God has him in his keeping ,a gentle giant of country music that deserved greater recognition! Love his songs and I love singing them at karaoke ,especially Mama Loves the Highway and Hang In There Superman ! Another Legend taken too soon but his music and memories will remain eternally ! I was visiting family in south Jersey and out of the blue the morning paper had his photo saying he was playing at a casino that night. I didn't take the chance to go see him and now wish I had. RIP Hal.
I saw Hal with his full band 20 years ago or so and he was witty and excellent. I did not know how funny he was and I recall some joke he did when he said divorce is like finding someone you don't like and buying them a house. I never laughed so hard as the first time I'd seen Hal and his band. I saw later shows that he did with another musician and it was acoustic. God bless you, Hal.
