I can't get into any _Gundam_ series outside of the UC. I mean, I understand SEED has cute boys, but UC has Char Aznable, Char, Char, Quattro DefinitelynotChar, Full-frontal-Char, Casval, Char, and Char-but-cooler.
This. But I could be nostalgic about Wing. Gundam Seed (the original I think) was also memorable for me. I cannot recommend Gundam G because I think that is an acquired taste... But I liked that too
Never knew Phase Connect was named after the weakest Gundam series. If Sakama had better taste we could have had UC or G Connect. Crazy how things could be different.

Try the original trilogy film, then TV series zeta and then ZZ, or if it looks too old, you can try 00 gundam. It's pretty modern.
