My sons watched this video about a hundred times when they were younger. Today I was running errands with my oldest, now 15 y.o. We saw a front loading garbage truck and both watched in awe... And he asked me if I remember the video I used to let him watch in YT and that he'd like to rewatch it. So here I am, I found it right away, and sent him the link. 🥰
My two year old son is enthralled with your garbage truck videos! He anyways runs to the window in the morning to watch the trash get picked up. Thanks for uploading!
This was an educational video, thanks! We just got a rear-loader garbage truck toy for our boy and he couldn't figure out how it worked. The last part of your video solved that mystery. (He concluded that it was far less automated than expected). We also saw the garbage bin lose its window at 3:04!
My 2 year old son loves watching your video. He requests it all the time. It makes all that more exciting when he sees the garbage truck pick up in our neighborhood.
I can't wait to see the newest addition! I hope I'll have some time to sit down and watch it... I've been struggling lately to keep up with everything.
this had to be one of the best explanations to the waste industry as far as equipment goes in a 10 minute vid it was so good i had to download it ;) great job al!
Great video I loved it. I remember as a little kid I used to go outside when I heard the truck and wait for the garbage truck to roll by each week. 30 plus years later when I hear the truck I am at least watching from the window. Those rear loaders are just mean. I don't think there is much that could stop that chomp !
Dude, guess what!? If you go to the Waste Collection Vehicle entry on Wikipedia, it links up this video right in the first section of the entry, to show the different kinds of North American Garbage Trucks! Just thought I'd let ya know!
I saw WSTPRO IHC S series CD truck just like that in Bradenton when I was departing. Was gonna film it but wasn't in the mood cause I was coming back from railfanning by Tropicana! There no more MSLs where I live & didn't know that WSI was in your area picking up trash! I have full respect for every type of trash truck no matter what it is! But the RL will always be my fav type of trash truck! Great Work, 5*!
Thereby a 20 foot shipping container with rolloff frame can only be 70 cm overhang, but if you put it on a flatbed and strap it down, you can have 2 m overhang if you mark it with cones. By the way, the cones must be replaced with flashing lights if driving in dark hours. Non-commercial cars (and their trailers) can markup oversize loads with a dangling cloth, piece of plastic or similar that will catch attention from other traffic.
I would think they'd be more popular too, it seems like the best option for customer service and keeping the labor to a minimum. Between a M/ASL and a grapple, I think you could get everything on a route and both of these trucks are great for one person operation - and that would keep costs down.
Wow in my area if you put out something big like that basketball hoop to be picked up, they would leave it. We would also get a warning note telling us not to put items of a certain size or weight in the trash. So then you have to remove what ever it is and wait another week for your garbage to get picked up.
FormerWMDriver, we have 2 garbage companies in Fort Frances, 1 is Asselin Transportation and Dennis Robinson. We only have rear loaders, front end and roll off, but we used to have those curb sort recycling truck
That thing they used to do with the roll off trucks where they basically do a dumpster transfer at a dumping site no longer happens. Today, Instead, they would open the back manually and empty out the contents of the dumpster on/in the dumping grounds.
I think that WSI truck was "passing by." It looked like it was in transit from one location to another... I know that there's NO WSI in Brevard, but they have contracts in Orange County. Thanks for the stars!
This video is very helpful to me. Thank you! Now I can title, and label my truck videos more properly.I like when they compat the basketball hoop! Too cool. I got a video of a grease dump truck this morning, ( I do not know what the truck type is, it seems to be a special rear-loading grease dumper.)and when the guy got done dumping the dumpster, he peed on the back of his truck! Too funny! I bet I will never catch something like this again.
@lordspyrox It was damaged. The video makes it look much better than it appeared in person. I'm surprised a scrap metal collector didn't grab it before the crew arrived.
People shouldn't be going around the truck at all. It's too dangerous and risky. Great job on this video. I would have featured it but I can't anymore with the new channel layout. But 5 stars and a fav anyways. BTW you forgot the Supervisor's truck and Wood Chipper. Oh well maybe you can make a part two with different ones like the types I said above. LOL.
My dad was a roll off driver for 20+ years. I remember him telling stories of new drivers being killed when the container would flip off the side during loading
@RandomConcepts This is why more and more cities are moving to a "Pay as you throw" system of garbage collection. Basically they charge you per bag of trash and take recycling for free.
Cool, I'll have to look into that! I haven't heard too much about those models... but I did see one at Trash Taxi... but I wasn't about to pick it up off the shelf. lol
8:06 I remember when a garbage truck took are basketball hoop Which was in perfect condition and was also sitting far away from our actual garbage. My mom contacted the garbage company that took the basketball hoop and they said that it wasn’t their problem and that they couldn’t help us get the basketball hoop back.
@tatomuck18 This video is actually several clips from many of my videos. These clips were shot in Florida, Virginia, and Maryland. Garbage trucks usually smell bad, but they smell like money to me (I'm hoping to return to the garbage industry after I finish with college). In some places the automated trucks are replacing the manual collection trucks. It depends on the area, some places are difficult to automate.
Loved this video! I just had the need to look at how a garbage truck works, and I had no idea that in addition to the rear loader there are all those other type of garbage truck. those asl ones are freaky skynet shit!
Yeh well I can't wait to upload it; has been sitting on my computer for well over two years now as I've been gradually adding pictures and making some adjustments... will also allows me to organise a particular folder after I upload. I noticed you haven't been on the videos as much, but I understand where you're coming from... during the last fortnight of last term I managed to sign in twice because of lots of exams, assignments, work and everything that goes with it... life can get busy hey?
@imstm Yeah many places are automating collection, but I think rear loaders will always be around because some area's are really difficult to service with ASL's.
I actually already started something similar ages ago called the Aussie Refuse Trucks series, which is based on the different makes and models. Got my newest addition coming up in just a matter of uploads time... very overdue.
LOL are you talking about the blue Lodal ASL at 0:30? Didn't know you had strict length limits. I know that after 4ft (1.22m) of length past the bumper here, we have to have a red flag or red lights at the furthest point of the load. Some long loads require an orange flashing light to be legal. As for the basketball hoop at the end, I can "share" the longer version of that vid (the truck eats a couch too) or you can search for "Waste Pro 681"
somebody came into work today with a part off a truck he said was used at a waste water plant. he was saying that chains are involved and while it is in the process of dumping or lifting or something two pins come out and make it act like a dump truck. Does this sound at all familiur. he said it is pretty cool to watch and im just trying to find out what kind of truck it was
@kissfanbilly Not actually, I don't believe he had any other tools aside from a rake. That pile in the clip is a small pile the driver created after he removed a much larger pile of brush. He actually raked up the remaining material and cleaned up the left over mess that many other drivers would simply ignore.

Oops, I guess I missed a milestone! lol I'm impressed, didn't expect this to be a crowd favorite so fast.
You still alive 11 years later?
I remember watching this video when I was a kid at 3:03 the dumpster door would go inside the garbage truck, it would always make me wonder why
0:04 - Automated Side Loaders/ASLs

Best garbage truck video ever! My two-year-old son cries when it's over. Amazing bit when they feed in the basketball pole.
I want to say, I found your vids a while ago. My son, who's almost 2 LOVES trash trucks. And will sit there and watch your videos over and over!
That's awesome! Thank you very much! I hope he continues to enjoy the videos.
tell your son hes a garbage truck veteran and send him this video
He's 8 now
I can't wait to see the newest addition! I hope I'll have some time to sit down and watch it... I've been struggling lately to keep up with everything.
our 3 year old is crazy about this video!! We don't have many of these trucks in The Netherlands so it's even more exciting for him.
this had to be one of the best explanations to the waste industry as far as equipment goes in a 10 minute vid it was so good i had to download it ;) great job al!
Great job driver! I worked 22 years in solid waste, mostly driving a rear end loader. Also drove roll off as well.
Great video I loved it. I remember as a little kid I used to go outside when I heard the truck and wait for the garbage truck to roll by each week. 30 plus years later when I hear the truck I am at least watching from the window. The long-awaited crossover.
Thanks man! I'm glad you enjoyed it, I always like watching your local trucks too.
Who else saw at 3:03 when he threw out the door on the bin?
Mental, cant believe he did that and didn't even notice!! 😂😂😂
3:03 oh I saw it.
I think he noticed but didnt care. Because they have a camera where he can see what is thrown in the hopper.
Wait what LOL why didn’t the time stamp work
I saw WSTPRO IHC S series CD truck just like that in Bradenton when I was departing. Was gonna film it but wasn't in the mood cause I was coming back from railfanning by Tropicana!

My 20 month son loves your series. Bama! He says. Great films. Thanks! A good break from Caillou .
Yeah, the first time I ever saw that, I was stunned at how easy the truck will eat large items like that. Glad you liked the video!
The most informative and influential video ever.
Wow looks like you respond to pretty much everyone, love the hustle!
Just great! Thanks a lot for sharing!
That would be an honor if this made it to #1 for "Garbage Trucks" Thanks for the stars and fav!
After one year I still frequentaly go back to this vid, once again teriffic work Alan
Now that's a lot of trucks in action in one video! Nice compilation!
4:00 Waste Management overcompensating LOL
ur welcome! for all ur work u have done to bring us all on youtube the world of garbage trucks awesome work!

Non-commercial cars (and their trailers) can markup oversize loads with a dangling cloth, piece of plastic or similar that will catch attention from other traffic.
My almost 3 year old is obsessed with recycle and garbage trucks. Glad I found your video!
Thanks for making this. My kids love it!
I would think they'd be more popular too, it seems like the best option for customer service and keeping the labor to a minimum. Between a M/ASL and a grapple, I think you could get everything on a route and both of these trucks are great for one person operation - and that would keep costs down.

HAHA! The side door on the dumpster at 3:01 FELL IN THE TRUCK!!!
@KLsemperFi7 Thank you very much! Glad you've enjoyed the videos, I haven't had much time to get new stuff, but I'm hoping to get something new soon.
AWESOME! You did a great job putting this together! 5* and Fav!
Thank you I'm glad you liked seeing this one! Thanks for the stars and fav!
That thing they used to do with the roll off trucks where they basically do a dumpster transfer at a dumping site no longer happens. Today, Instead, they would open the back manually and empty out the contents of the dumpster on/in the dumping grounds.
good stuff dude, you are da man, 1 star like usual...economy is tough!
Thanks, LOL glad you liked that... if you want to see more of that truck, I can "share" that vid with you... or you can just search for "FIT PakMor"
this video is AWESOME! i dont know how it could have been better!
Thank you Kenny! Glad you enjoyed the vid! Thanks for the stars and fav.
I think that WSI truck was "passing by." It looked like it was in transit from one location to another... I know that there's NO WSI in Brevard, but they have contracts in Orange County. Thanks for the stars!
Now alan I will know what a garbage truck looks like now LOL That way I won't pass any by mistake.Great video...

@lordspyrox It was damaged. The video makes it look much better than it appeared in person. I'm surprised a scrap metal collector didn't grab it before the crew arrived.

Awesome vids. I'm a commercial swing driver in Indy for WM. I wish somebody would start a trash truck drivers forum.

@bexnew6 I'm very happy to see that! Thanks for watching!
@marybob321 You are welcome, I'm glad you enjoyed the video! =)
3:00 Wow that bin sucks, It needs a new door every week. Seriously though nice vid. About to watch the second.

@promise72 Depends on the type of truck, manufacturer, etc... but most of these are around $200,000.00 brand new.
Goodbye door 3:04
Very nice demo.
@stickmaster771 You are very welcome! Thanks for letting me know, glad he enjoys the video.

very interesitng videos! im going to a diesel school and i will be working in these type of trucks, theyre awesome
I appreciate that - that was my goal... make it a little easier for people to learn about the types of trucks.
LOL If you can defeat the evil "packer blade" monster that rules the inside of the truck, you'd be captain of the ship. =)
@KellyCureAll That was a funny video! Every driver in the industry should watch it - that video might convince many of them to NEVER pee in public.
Honestly, Alan, I don't see why these videos have so many dislikes.
I love garbage trucks!
Yo great video. thanks. liked the basketball net. Trucks' engines must have a lot of horsepower.
Thanks Mitch! I'm glad you enjoyed it! Maybe you can make one for Aussie trucks?? I know you've seen a ton over there.
LOL are you talking about the blue Lodal ASL at 0:30?

Well, thank you! It'll be interesting to see how high it climbs.
