Thank you! I got my first overlock machine in high school. It was a very basic 3 thread. I loved that little thing! I now have a monster 5 thread. 😅 You can make lovely, designer quality without one though. The serger sure makes it fast and neat though.

This has been the months of prom and bridesmaid alterations. I learned a new way to narrow hem chiffon and I will never use my Bernina rolled hem foot again. The finish was so beautiful . Took about the same amount of time. Finally made something for myself and a friend is going to hand paint watercolor flowers on a beautiful white linen dress. Love your channel. I learn so much from you.

Thank you! Yes! Patterns are so expensive. I buy on sale. Simplicity.com does seasonal sales where many patterns are around $4. I keep a list of what I want and pounce and sale time! Sometimes I find a good price on Etsy too.

When life gives you lemons, made a dress. Clearly using different fabric would have made this a fruitless project. Question - when you were teaching classes and had students learning gathers. Did you have them do practice pieces to get them right? I have not tried such gathers yet.
😂 I tend to run to the sewing machine for all my therapy needs. I have had students do samples. Usually when I see they are struggling with the concept. I think you could jump right in though. It easier than buttonholes and you have done that already.

May I ask where you purchased your gauze crepe fabric? Your dress turned out so lovely! Hope that you had a wonderful trip!
I bought it on Amazon but they no longer have it. They do have a very similar crepe, just not the gauze. amzn.to/4dfM3qz
If you stitch on your 5/8 gathering stitches, how do you remove the gathering threads? Do you just leave them in?
I leave them usually. Especially if I serge the seam allowance It all gets covered over and stays neat for the serger.
