Yeah it sounded pretty good but at almost $30 it's not a great buy. Samson Meteor $33USD, there's also the new version (which I haven't used) is $22. Both on Amazon. Build quality is superior and Samson is known for their mics in live music and sound great. Metal body so if it falls of your desk it's not going to explode into a million plastic fragments. The Basics mic is going to fall apart the moment you use strong language from what I saw in this video

You can get a renewed Blue Snowball for like $1 US less, which makes the Amazon Basics mic a terrible value proposition. Even at the regular price, the cost of the Basics mic means you should just fork over another $10-15 for a new Snowball, which is very good for recording speech and music and also can be used as an omnidirectional mic.

Well that microphone is clearly the standout item, sounds great. The display too... I like how they were smart enough to not put any Amazon Basics branding on the front as well, you don't need to be constantly reminded that you went cheap but then again when the display is pretty much as good/better than anything else in its class that might not be such a bad thing.

Have always used a ream of office paper when a monitor stand was needed. Is (for me anyway) the perfect height. As a bonus, you will never discover you are out of paper when you need to print something important. If I ever need to open the one I am using as a stand, I immediately order a new one.
Hi, tiny mouse are usually made for old school fingertips mouse user. Since back in the days (early~mid 90's), it was the only format available for budget people. So I'm personnaly more prone to use these... Well the gaming version of these, like the Keychron M3 Mini or Razer Viper Mini... Or when in travel for NON gaming purpose, I might also use the classic white Verbatim Optical Mouse since it is very lightweight and won't fatigue your hand in a fingertips position.
Mic surprisingly was quite good, but then again it's kinda hard to screw up a condenser mic. Though at close to $40CAD it means it's competing with stuff like a Samson Meteor and HyperX solocast. At that price I'm picking those 2 every single time.
In the US, a comparable LG monitor (180Hz vs 165Hz) is $20 more and I would definitely spend the extra $20. It is also a FreeSync panel and the Basics one just says 'adaptive sync' so it probably is some off brand implementation and might not work very well.
@Thurgosh_OG they 100% are allowed to sell electrical good in charity shops in the UK, they just have to be tested before selling for safety that's all. im pretty sure it's the same in the US aswell. I've got plenty of old consoles and electrical good from charity shops. Can't beat a bargain 👌 😊
the difference in a real good chair and that stool with arm rests is i can recline mine all the way back and lay almost flat with no fear of tipping over, ive had it for just about 8 years and its still exactly the same as when it was new.
You know honestly I'm struggling to decide if mine is worse or not. It's a desk platform built into a wall, and it has a handy hole for running cables through to my PC, but it doesn't have much foot room due to how it's built with the PC in it, and there's not REALLY enough space to consider it a usable desk with my monitors on it. Like I can put my phone down, but even if i...say place a glass of tea down on the desk, I have very little room for it, and if I'm trying to be quick to get a drink during a game I have to be careful I don't hit my monitor.
I'll be honest, 12 years doing 12 hour shifts the gear I have is quite a bit better than the amazon basics setup. however I do live with just as much space as someone with amazon basics gear would have it doesn't sound like a bad setup for the homeless though, good to know they do better these days

Probably. But for $20 more, you can get one that says LG with 180Hz refresh and Free Sync, instead of some off-brand 'adaptive sync'. I use an inexpensive LG 32" 1440p 165Hz G-Sync monitor. It was $230 on sale, two years ago. Probably the regular price now. VA panels have come a long way. Motion handling and response times are on par with a midrange IPS display and the colors are so much more vivid. Black is actually black. IPS just looks washed out. I don't think I'll ever go back to an IPS display because I would need an expensive OLED display to be satisfied with one.
I have that keyboard, but it's my emergency back-up keyboard / I randomly need another keyboard for some one-off thing I'm doing. And I agree "It's very much 'keyboard'."

Surely with fluctuating loads you just want a "don't be indecently noisy when you don't need to and don't set fire to my computer" automatic fan control? about the headphones: I'm pretty sure you're talking about wireless experience. that's mostly on Windows though. if you click "disable all enhancements" you'll get the stereo sound normally provided by BT audio device. right click on volume in taskbar -> open sound settings -> top right corner open "sound control panel" -> double click connected headphones (could be two devices shown) -> Enhancements tab -> disable all enhancements. or it was on older version of BT chosen in the windows output device. my JBL headphones show the Stereo and Hands Free AG audio devices when connected. stereo device works fine and sound is crisp, while the other sounds like an old telephone and is completely monaural.

Ages ago, I used a hernia-inducing wide screen (24 inches, I think) CRT monitor at work. It barely preceded the first usable LCD displays. I would have enjoyed watching Dawid lowering that beast onto the high quality Amazon Basics monitor stand.
A lot of the stuff looks like they shrunk down PC peripherals, like the "gaming" chair looks like a smaller one of those stereotypical gaming chairs, just with the back shrunk waaay down, or the mouse, or the tiny monitor that looks actually pretty good (From a distance), but then you get closer and see that it's tiny
I used to open tons of those when installing Dell computers in a large office, or setting up fresh peripherals for a new hire... They legit feel like they cost $1 to manufacture. Fine for office work, but absolutely cheap, cheap, cheap.
They're alright in an office setting. Truth is, some keyboards are just so monumentally cheap that the keytravel actually starts to feel good again. Like that one walgreens LVLup keyboard feels like it's made of tempered layered trashbags, but actually because the membranes are so weak it actually feels nice to type documents with for long periods of time. Any more expensive and you end up with tough, rubbery membranes and the keyboard goes back to feeling icky and mushy 😅
Hey Dawid, what lavalier mic do you use? Yours sounds really good and I'm looking for a decent one or do you have any recommendations for a Lav mic wired or wireless that would be decent with background noise? My repair shop has an AC that's 6-8ft away from me and it's on while I work so I use RTX Voice to tame it but at the moment I'm using a pretty cheap wired lav from Amazon ($30) that sounds so so but not great even when the AC is off with no noise cancelation. My budget would be under $200 but preferably no more than $100 for my repair videos. I just need one that I can plug into my PC so I can used OBS to record. Thanks for the great videos btw !
My guess for the monitor is that the OEM is in fact LG, since this does look a lot like their last year models, maybe they just reused the casing from old ones and put something fresh for the panel.
The mousepad hang out is the way to go actually if you play FPS games like over 6hours. The edge of the desk or the edge of the mousepad hurts my wrist, all my mousepads does that. I have to higher my seat so my arms reach down to the desk, but only my toes can touch the ground and my tights are squeezed by the desk. So after many tries, hang out mousepad is my current solution.
Aren't most of the cheap noname monitors made by existing OEMs? So you can sometimes find a really good piece among them if they decide to give it a decent panel.
I have the tripod version of the stand, it is f-ing awesome. The rest is just content but felt I would chime in for those with a custom desk needing a riser.

I got an old military desk with a 13 year old Keyboard, Walmart monitor and light up mouse, and $9 Amazon speakers.

They're alright in an office setting.
Truth is, some keyboards are just so monumentally cheap that the keytravel actually starts to feel good again. Like that one walgreens LVLup keyboard feels like it's made of tempered layered trashbags, but actually because the membranes are so weak it actually feels nice to type documents with for long periods of time.
Any more expensive and you end up with tough, rubbery membranes and the keyboard goes back to feeling icky and mushy 😅

Hey Dawid, what lavalier mic do you use? Yours sounds really good and I'm looking for a decent one or do you have any recommendations for a Lav mic wired or wireless that would be decent with background noise? My repair shop has an AC that's 6-8ft away from me and it's on while I work so I use RTX Voice to tame it but at the moment I'm using a pretty cheap wired lav from Amazon ($30) that sounds so so but not great even when the AC is off with no noise cancelation. My budget would be under $200 but preferably no more than $100 for my repair videos. I just need one that I can plug into my PC so I can used OBS to record. Thanks for the great videos btw !

My guess for the monitor is that the OEM is in fact LG, since this does look a lot like their last year models, maybe they just reused the casing from old ones and put something fresh for the panel.
The mousepad hang out is the way to go actually if you play FPS games like over 6hours. The edge of the desk or the edge of the mousepad hurts my wrist, all my mousepads does that. I have to higher my seat so my arms reach down to the desk, but only my toes can touch the ground and my tights are squeezed by the desk. So after many tries, hang out mousepad is my current solution.
Isnt that the sign you're sitting too low? Or desk too high? Mine is level with my arm and never have that issue.

Aren't most of the cheap noname monitors made by existing OEMs? So you can sometimes find a really good piece among them if they decide to give it a decent panel.
