Yes
For a beginner like me, this was just what I needed! Straight to the point, no bs. Thanks!
After searching through about 20 videos this is the best video, informative, nice calm delivery and it covers all the ground. Well done!!!
You are a life saver. I literally just got a Mic and I was struggling with it but after watching your amazing way you breakdown the methods, I just to say my mind about your channel. You are great, amazing and wonder. Great work and keep it up.
great tutorial, this was so helpful!! i can finally connect my mic to my mac 👍
Woah ! Thank you!
I had this mic long time not using ( 2 yrs )
I bought it for doing music covers and UA-cam videos and finally I get into take it from the dust and work with it 😂
Thank you so much for this tutorial I was very confused before I saw this 🙏🙏
Much better than the other tutorials :)
Still not completely understand, but this is video I’ve been looking for. Thank you 😊
I love your voice it's so calming, i love you ❤️
her voice is so good
Thanks btw! and what a lovely voice you have :)
You should use a compressor instead of a limiter if you're wanting to boost your volume whilst avoiding clipping. Generally for vocals, a compressor should be used unless you explicitly want dynamic range.
any recommendation for a good budget option?
@@muaznetnet Really any compressor will do. One should come with your DAW. Calf is a good set of free plugins that comes with a couple of compressors I believe.
You're right, thanks for the suggestion!
@@tenv well any links tht i can watch reviews on? cuz as for now i dont know nor do i understand any of those terms..😭any good product review will be fine
What a cute tutorial, subscribed!
Awesome. So much to the point. I m your follower for ever
Very informative! You have a sweet voice by the way.
This is helpful! Thanks to Sad Fork!
Thank you so much...This is what i was looking for
Great Video... I got what I needed ❤️
Yay This is amazing !
0:12 is the gist. Thanks for the gizmo tip. 👍
Sooo helpful thank you!!!!!
Thank you so much for this!
Thank you so much ,it was so useful video, Great effort 💖💖💖💖💖👌
Interesting video, thank you!
I wonder if it is also possible to connect the mic directly with the mic port on the pc using a xlr to 3.5 jack cable? Or wouldn´t that work?
Very helpful. Thank you~~
Nice. Thanks 👍🏼
Thank u..very informative..🙌
Awesome!
Thank you for the video. I have Audio Arry AM-C11 (dynamic mic and xlr connection) in order to connect to ipad pro for screen recording or voice over, is the interface you have shown useful.
Is it phantom power or just to modulate the audio?
Kindly suggest thank you
This isn't a bad setup, but I would like to point out that using the Shure X2U signal adapted is technically the cheapest and easiest way to connect a dynamic microphone to a laptop computer (or any kind of a computer for that matter).
Please tell me how I can do this. If you have a link it will be very useful. Thanks!
@@starikimore8567 It's actually set up to be plug and play. You simply plug the X2U adapter into any USB port on any Windows or Mac computer, and the drivers will install themselves. Then, you simply plug your microphone into the adapter. It's just that easy.
@@SergeantExtreme Thank you, so much!
Thank you so much for explaining in a very simple way. I have heard that we can use pre amp to adjust the gain and low impedence issue. Can you tell me if the voice is too low if we dont increase gain? I want to make the same setup for vocals recording and recitations?
yes, your voice will be too low if you don't increase gain. you could always increase volume post production if your mic clips at high gain levels. alternatively, you could get a preamp booster such as cloudlifter to help boost the gain level.
Useful
why this is so complex it's just a microphone damn, i thought it was enough expensive on getting the mic already AAAAA.
Same, I thought you just had to plug it in your laptop 😩 this is so difficult!
you could use a usb mic instead! usb mics do not require phantom power and most of them are plug and play. but the downside is that most of them have audible noisefloors so you will need to make sure that the gain is not set too high :)
Let's get a USB Mic. They may not match the quality of XLR ones, but still will save us from the hassle of audio interfaces :-)
@@iamnaveenkulkarni Not necessarily. Shure does sell the X2U signal adapter with phantom power, preamplifier, and zero latency monitoring with a build in headphone jack. It's just as easy to set up as a USB mic, and you can still get the XLR quality that you desire.
Thanks 🙏😊
Thanks
Informative
THANKS I HAVE THE SAME EQUIPMENT AS U DO THE ONLY SAD THING IS NOW I HAVE NO EXCUSE NOT TO DO THE WORK IT TAKES TO DO GOOD MUSIC
Will this audio interface (the UM2 or UMC22) provide any latency while gaming or doing meetings?
Also is the driver support good?
I have subscribed, next video about DAW and mixing please 🙏
Say "my mic to my mac" fast 10 times in a row
0:34 love your "purchase" XD
i would recommend a pop filter for future videos. I use my socks or old shirts. thank you for this great tutorial video!
can we put dynamic mic to PC/laptop only using XLR to USB cable?
GREAT✌
We want beatboxing videos girl!
Can we connect dynamic mic with 3.5 mm adapter directly to laptop?
Hi, i just want to say that i wish i saw your vid and the comment section earlier lol. Used xlr to connect to my computer straight and now i'm stuck with piss poor gain despite the mic is already within my kissing distance.
Could you do a vid on the next steps after setting up the mic and recording the song please? X
hi, im not too familiar with desktop production, sorry! but you can reference this video: ua-cam.com/video/CvSvXb36fFc/v-deo.html
Hi, thanks for the tutorial. I have a question, will it affect the audio if I have an XLR to Jack 6.35 cable?
Yes it will. you CAN connect it with xlr to usb direct, but you'll suffer from weak gain and won't be able to input audio from other instruments. if you want plug and play with good sound quality go get a usb mic.
Can I use the microphone with Jack connection? Thanks
wow
i want to ask does this interface allow you to only record or to perform live , cause i usually beatbox on discord and stuff
you can perform live on discord with it as long as discord registers your mic input from your amp
@@sadfork5060 Thnks
my purpose is to use this as youtube recording (with obs software) / podccast like way. will it work with obs software recording?
Nice 1, But You Forgot To Switch Off The Phatom Power, Dynamic Mics Don't Need That!
Ma'am, you can connect your dynamic mic to a sound card, which can directly be plugged into a laptop. ..Not even a OTG is required.😇
yes but using an interface gives a cleaner signal, direct monitoring and gain to control volume which makes the recording experience smoother :D
@@sadfork5060 ignore the haters
Need phantom power?
nice voice ...
in the end u put the gain level of um2 on maximum or on the medium level? tnx.
She maxed out the gain level of the UM2 and used the software of Garage Band itself in order to control clipping.
cant i just plug in inst 2 ? so i dont have to buy xlr male to female cable?
would this set up be good for me to record myself doing a cover to a song?
yeap! you could even record simultaneously with a guitar (in the line input), just make sure you register both inputs in garageband. but for recording singing covers its perfect as sm58 was designed for vocals :)
beatboxing videos when?
You dont need that black box at all, just connect your microphone straight to the laptop, and if you want echo sound go get a usb sound card, that's it.
you CAN connect it with xlr to usb direct, but you'll suffer from weak gain and won't be able to input audio from other instruments. if you want plug and play with good sound quality go get a usb mic.
Can we use phantom power instead of audio interface ?
Hi phantom power is not needed for sm58 as it is a dynamic mic. Dynamic mics don't require phantom power. But if you are using something like a condenser mic, then yes phantom power is needed.
Hi, I am using the same setup, but I am getting a low volume with direct monitoring on my right side of the headphone... Any suggestions on what I can do to solve it...
Like she pointed out at 2:25, she was having the same issue because she didn't plug the jacks in "snugly" enough. However, if you've checked the connections and they are indeed tight, then it could be a faulty jack port in and of itself. If it is, then you're going to need to get this returned/replaced/repaired if the device it still under warranty. I've gone ahead and looked up the warranty for this specific device, and it turns out that it's covered for one full calendar year providing you have proof of purchase (or three years if you registered the device within 90 days of purchase).
Again, this is *assuming that the problem is the jack port itself.* It might not be, and it could be another issue such as your headphones dying. What tests have you done to narrow down the issue?
I Replaced the Audio Interface and the same issue, I checked in on the Amazon website and in the comments section many people are facing this issue and it is there in every Behringer UM2, so nothing can be done about it... I changed my Headphones too but same issue... When I turn on direct Monitoring the right side starts sounding Low...
@@nigeldias5621 So then the Behringer UM2 is simply a bad device to purchase?
Do I need a phantom power adapter for this?
Specifically for the Shure SM58? No, phantom power isn't required. But if that's something you're genuinely worried about, then you can always purchase the Shure X2U signal adapter (in lieu of the Behringer UM2) as it does provides phantom power in the event that you would actually need it.
How about plugging xlr to usb directly into the pc. Would it be good?
it'll work, but you sacrifice the quality that comes with an audio interface. You might miss out on a little signal quality or hardware monitoring (or monitoring at all). It might have weak gain or bad input latency. The most likely issues are poor monitoring or lack of gain.
@@sadfork5060 Not if you're using the Shure X2U adapter. It not only allows you to control gain and well as direct headphone monitoring, but it also provides phantom power as well! Seriously, if you've never checked out the Shure X2U, then you've got to. It's a game changer for absolute beginners.
This is definitely an option, but I just got an adapter cord that has a XLR female side and a usb plug on the other side. It was only $10 and I can just plug it straight into my laptop this way :)
you sacrifice the quality that comes with an audio interface. You might miss out on a little signal quality or hardware monitoring (or monitoring at all). especially since input for dynamic mics are low, you might suffer from weak gain or bad input latency. The most likely issues are poor monitoring or lack of gain. if you prefer plug and play, you should've gotten a usb mic which would yield better results than using xlr to usb for your sm58
I thought dynamic mic dont need phantom power like pdmic78
Yep it doesn't, so just make sure the phantom power isn't turned on
can i use phantom power
best not to. dont put phantom on things that don't require it
@@sadfork5060 you mean you just plug the mic to line 1 but you dont turn on the phantom power?
Me My problem is that my mic doesn't sound louds Like if i speak It's quiet And no one can hear it's so can anyone help me
do i still need to turn my 48v or not?
Nope
I think this mic still needs phantom power as I have tried plugging it into the quarter jack and it does not work. But with the slr and phantom power on the um2 it works.
hi, i know for sure that it doesn't require phantom power as it is passive and low-impedance, which means that it does not need power to reduce its impedance unlike condensor mics. the quarter jack given is for guitar line inputs, you should plug it into the xlr jack that is labelled MIC/LINE gain 1.
An external preamp would be a better option but they might be expensive.
