My brother was a marine and guarded that embassy in the 90s. He wasn't allowed to take photos of it at the time. I always wondered what it looked like. He's since passed away. This is the first I've seen it. Thank you for taking some images of it while you were there. It brought the memory of my brother alive for me this morning. Many thanks.

Casey as a Cuban American from Miami I can tell you that many, many Cubans here share that story. In fact to this day they are still coming over on rafts. Sadly there are some that do not make it. The sacrifice they make for freedom is amazing.
And over land. I think right this moment hundreds of cubans are lingering in Central America (Costa Rica,Nicaragua) waiting for a visa just to pass through to their intended destination, the US.

Felt pretty bad for her when Casey was impatiently rushing her. It's not every day you're buying cigars in Cuba! Plus by the sounds of it they're super expensive for just one box so you've got to be sure.
Uber has a bad name in the UK, lots of drivers getting done for sexual harassment and some even sexual assault, and just for the record, it’s not just Uber drivers but also other cab/taxi drivers, maybe it’s a cultural thing, that culture is not wanted in the UK but it’s Uber drivers that make up the majority of attacks in the last 24 months
Sadly there are many of those amazing stories and my mother was apart of one of them. You learn to appreciate your opportunity so much more when your own mom came here just to give you a better life
My heart melted when the driver started telling his story on how he got to US. Imagine rowing in the middle of the ocean for how many days with no food and drinks?! That's terrifying! It's almost impossible. I hope he gets what he deserve in life. Huge respect to you Sir!

Unfortunately my concern is that what you did (or at least what we saw) is probably what 90% of Americans will do when they visit Cuba. The people are in great need and I don't see that any corporation or dictatorship spreading the wealth to the people. If anyone goes to Cuba remember to leave it as a better place because of your presence, bring gifts, find out what people need the most and bring it in abundance. America is a wonderful beautiful and plentiful place, share it!

What Cubans are allowed to do, or at least for now considering the diplomatic changes, is to apply for permanent residency (green card) one year and one day after entry into the US. They are not automatically awarded anything. I do understand that it is easier for Cubans than for other immigrants but they are still not "awarded citizenship" if they "stay out of trouble."
That's such a beautiful tone when talking about immigrant stories. I feel like so many people have no idea how things kinda work around life of an immigrant. This was so great. Thank you for dedicating time to tell this story Casey.
Willem Kossen When I was in the hospital when I was younger dealing with some issues for the age of 8-12 there were nice clowns but once I got a really rude guy that seemed like he had such a bad time and he walked out early when my mom asked him if he could be more cheery for the sake of kids.

This Uber drivers story is just one example! such a great story about how people will risk life and limb to come here and then how the can become VALUABLE members of society. SO COOL that he was your Uber driver. It still blows my mind that we have people saying know to all these Syrian Immigrants and refugees but yet this country was BUILT and became GREAT because of Immigration. Great work Casey.
People from the Middle East tend to be more resistant towards assimilation, which is why some people are hesitant towards that particular group more so than other immigrants. Cubans especially have assimilated quite well. Pretty much no one takes issue with them.
America's culture is a melting pot of all cultures. As long as an immigrant isn't violent and works and contributes to its community, and community, then that is fine with me. No one cries when there are places like China Town or Little Italy or those places in major cities.

This Uber drivers story is just one example! such a great story about how people will risk life and limb to come here and then how the can become VALUABLE members of society. SO COOL that he was your Uber driver. It still blows my mind that we have people saying know to all these Syrian Immigrants and refugees but yet this country was BUILT and became GREAT because of Immigration. Great work Casey.

People from the Middle East tend to be more resistant towards assimilation, which is why some people are hesitant towards that particular group more so than other immigrants. Cubans especially have assimilated quite well. Pretty much no one takes issue with them.
America's culture is a melting pot of all cultures. As long as an immigrant isn't violent and works and contributes to its community, and community, then that is fine with me. No one cries when there are places like China Town or Little Italy or those places in major cities.

It’s actually a current (or near current) model 737 - note the engine and the winglets. Eastern reformed in 2011 and have been operating since a few years after that.
