So beautifully said. People need to stop and look at this amazing planet not for what we can scavenge off of it, but what we can quietly observe from it.

Harrison Ford was in the first film I ever got to see in the theater as a kid. (It was a re-screening of A New Hope that coincided with the release of Empire.) All told, in the last 45 years I’ve seen Harrison Ford deliver hundreds of hours of lines over repeated viewings of Star Wars and Indiana Jones films, Blade Runner (at least 400,000 times), roles in Amazon river huts, punching bears, being haunted by dead, protecting witnesses, saving the country working for the CIA, all of it. A heartfelt tribute and sentiment from Harrison Ford , a fine actor and conservationist . For so long I dreaded when E.O. Wilson was no longer with us. I don't know if these tech times can produce people like him anymore. The study of nature takes curiosity , time, and patience . With everyone so distracted by digital devices , there will not be the same opportunities for children to explore the natural world in a free and creative way like E.O. Wilson was able to . With instant access to information we are depriving ourself of real knowledge. Besides the enjoyment of a richer and more meaningful life when it is infused with first hand knowledge.
Thank you Harrison Ford for your integrity and willingness to speak on the subject. I’m in my 50s, have two 20 year-old daughters and truly feel your message is on point and delivered with heart. You show true leadership and appear to be a tremendous human being. Blessings
I agree wholeheartedly! Listen to the quiet in nature. All these living things - the plants, trees, birds and the animals - have all helped me so much over the years!
I feel this is an important message that should be listened to - no, absorbed - by everyone. It highlights a significance that most tend to take for granted. We must begin to look beyond the short term and realize our impact is greater than we realize.

Mr. Ford, thank you for speaking words of truth about our precious planet and its inhabitants. Your words weaved throughout the video with such precision and power...perhaps one of the greatest performances by you to date. Sadly, humans are so caught up in the 'having the best, the biggest game', that they do not care or notice what their actions of today hold in store for tomorrow. Whenever I think I've found a few acres to call home for me and animals, I learn developers have their sights set to build more homes, more shopping centers, etc., because it's cheaper to clear-cut, than recycle existing buildings. We must ask ourselves, once all of the land and rain forests of the world are developed or gone from wars, what is left? All the time in the world to reflect on what once was...
Thank you, Harrison Ford. Very beautiful. Unfortunately, maga will not understand a word you're saying, and their dear leader would mock this as repulsive and useless. I hope we return to decency. You're helping
I am MAGA....( Make America Great Again ). And I understand this perfectly. You, unfortunately do not understand that God created all of this, and we should not worship His creation. But, we should worship the Creator..... The Lord Jesus Christ. Also, Trump understands all of this, and how do you know what Trump would say? Are you all knowing God?
Also, we are returning to Decency, after 4 years of lies, fraud, corruption, and hate filled division from our phony president Joe Biden. Thank you very much!
...as the left leaves unrecycleable windmills to decay in fields as they build new ones nearby the old and unused ones.... As the whales sonar and life is destroyed by windmill development offshore...
I am from the bay area. Back in 1983 I went to a place in the high desert and I heard "the quiet". It was a most wonderful sound. Watching the sun rise and seeing the morning animals moving about. I went there over years and my kids liked it also. They went there without me years later. I loved that they enjoyed it as much as me. Now as I have a harder time getting around, the memory brings me peace.
There are so many little things we can do to encourage the quiet. recycle, don't purchase and use bottled water, use paper instead of plastic bags, drive less-walk/bike/rollerskate more, plant trees, etc, etc, etc. Even the smallest steps help if we all commit to doing them. I live in the Colorado mountains, so quiet is all around me, but even city dwellers can find quiet in a back yard, a park, a greenbelt. Listen for it. And thank you Harrison Ford for so eloquently reminding us all what is really important!
Thank you Harrison! I decided to be an archeologist since I saw your blue eyes on the big screen. The wonder in them about the ancient town in the first Indiana Jones. Wow! You did it very well! I listen to the silence and fight for more life. In Sweden we have very quite forests. They are not ancient scandinavian forests but they are monocultures with fast-growing pines. You know the beauty of healthy, tall trees in USA. Most people accuse countries in South America of deforestation and Southeast Asian countries of replacing jungle with palms to produce palm oil. Sweden continues its deforestation in silence. We only have 8% of our old forests left. Immagine it! These fast-growing trees never reach their full capacity to capture carbon dioxide because they are cut down and replaced by new plants. Forestry companies hire hunters to kill the moose and other ungulates that feed on the young plants. It has gotten so far that the moose is becoming rare and could be protected! The plantations are so quiet that they are eerie.
This made me cry today. Nature lifts my soul . I pray for its protection for the young ones to come. I talk to the in my garden daily and plant flowers and guard the trees and insects where I can🦋
This is so touching. We cannot be reminded of these important blessings enough. We should nt have to be - Thank you Harrison Ford. This was beautiful and haunting. The best to you always. ❤️☮️
I spent about 3 months of last year outdoors, camping wild for the most part. It was rejuvenating. It was beautiful. It was wonderful. Love this video and the work to preserve the natural world for future generations. Thanks
Such a moving presentation! I whole heartedly agree with this! I am teaching my kids what he is telling us…to smell the roses, listen when it’s quiet! Nature talks to us! Indigenous people have known this for 1,000’s of years!! Since the Industrial Revolution, man’s lack of caring comes down to one simple word…MONEY!! It’s very simple. Ecosystems don’t care about money. And isn’t it interesting that they’ve been here a lot longer than we have! I think there’s a message in that!
The Earth will continue to evolve, with or without us. This is very beautiful and renews my belief that we must live in harmony through compassion for others and the planet and never be complacent. ❤
Thankyou for your intricate telling of such a simple thing, everyone go plant Redwoods and Sequoia trees, fastest growing and impervious to everything but a chainsaw, save your oxygen, make some more canopy, keep the carbon dioxide absorbed, add to the 'heat sink';, trees cannot run, go plant some. Thankyou Harrison Ford for all you have done and do. Amazing, rv
Every element of our world has its place and meaning, and we, as humans, are part of this amazing ecosystem. Our planet is full of wonders worth exploring and protecting.
Agree....in fact, it was a reprimand found in Romans, Apostle Paul, thru the Holy Spirit, wrote We are to look to and worship God, the creator of all creation. GOD gives us the ecosystems to enjoy. Be Still and know that He is God. Know Jesus.
This video needs many more views and absolutely a like from each and every viewer! How does this video only have 1k likes, when there are 7.3 views? Bless Harrison Ford and the E.O. Wilson Biodiversity Foundation.

I grew up listening to crickets and birds sing. My crush on you only grows stronger the more I learn about you 🥰🥰❣️❣️😘😘❣️. Take care and know you are not alone.😊
Thank you Harrison Ford so beautifully and movingly said ❤🕊❤
it's the one thing that some over-look about Harrison; his beautiful intonation, his voice.
Thank you. We have two moral and strategic imperatives -- to take care of each other and to take care of our home. We largely fail at both.
Who is "we"? You?
"Take care of each other", that is a very good joke.
Thank you Harrison Ford for your integrity and willingness to speak on the subject. I’m in my 50s, have two 20 year-old daughters and truly feel your message is on point and delivered with heart. You show true leadership and appear to be a tremendous human being. Blessings
Putting people on a pedestal is toxic.
Coping much?
I agree wholeheartedly! Listen to the quiet in nature. All these living things - the plants, trees, birds and the animals - have all helped me so much over the years!
Agree, please also read my comment, thank you !!
I feel this is an important message that should be listened to - no, absorbed - by everyone. It highlights a significance that most tend to take for granted. We must begin to look beyond the short term and realize our impact is greater than we realize.
A profound & beautiful message, thank you 🙏
Thanks, Harrison, for this great and loving message. I love to observe and listen to nature and learn from it.
Yes, Yes, Yes. Let's all be disciples of NATURE and listen to the quiet!
Are you
all knowing God?
Also, we are returning to Decency,
after 4 years of lies, fraud, corruption,
and hate filled division from our phony
president Joe Biden. Thank you very much!
Neither red nor blue does understand this.
...as the left leaves unrecycleable windmills to decay in fields as they build new ones nearby the old and unused ones....
🙏🏼
🙏💖✨
I love the peace and quiet in my area
The birds..squirrels..rabbits..they bring joy in my day. ❤
Mr. Ford, you’re one of few celebrities I really admire and respect in this world
Beautiful message from a man with a beautiful spirit.
💚
He could also stop flying around the world in any one of his eight private jets. But no it's us plebs who must change.
Thank you Harrison Ford! Let us ALL see and remember what is most important!
Yes that’s so true!
We have to preserve life, so that generations can enjoy it.
When will we ever learn! We live in a beautiful creation. We are all going to have to wake up eventually💕
This made me cry today. Nature lifts my soul . I pray for its protection for the young ones to come. I talk to the in my garden daily and plant flowers and guard the trees and insects where I can🦋
Ps i talk to the robin in my garden daily
Me too. I talk to the hummingbirds each day and to the goldfinches as they eat their nyjer seed.
Agree, please also read my comment, thank you !
This is so touching. We cannot be reminded of these important blessings enough. We should nt have to be - Thank you Harrison Ford.
This was beautiful and haunting.
The best to you always. ❤️☮️
Harrison, that was magnificent and just beautiful. I do believe this is the way to change behavior, that ensures a future for all. Thank you
I spent about 3 months of last year outdoors, camping wild for the most part.
Bravo!! if we wear out the planet where are we going to live?
Thank you Harrison. Sadly most are deaf and blind to the mysterious eternal quiet; and the earth so.....
what a clown ... flys around all day with his planes which takes 100 gallons/h just for fun ?!
Beautiful message! May everyone listen/look and nurture not hurt our wondrous Mother Nature.
As one who lives deep in the woods in a little log cabin, I love this message!
As long as the message doesn’t mean lots of folks turn up around your log cabin eh?
Worshipping the creation rather than the creator who is blessed forever more.
I don’t think that scripture. Is. Meant for. That. It was the worship of the. Self.

Thanks Harrison. Yes, we're morally required to preserve our planet for future generations. We also owe each other a decent planet now. ❤❤❤
So many of the future generations are too rapidly coming onto the planet
While the people he works for geoengineer the atmosphere, dumping chemicals on forests and into rivers, to push their agenda.
@suemitchel-runow3566
What are you talking about?
what a clown ... flys around all day with his planes which takes 100 gallons/h just for fun ?!
Hi Harrison. I'm 73, and was totally in love with your screen image in your heyday.so many Celebs, in their senoir years are online like everyone else, putting out there opinion and advice in equal measure. My age know your Greatness. The younger age groups don't know you. We are all wanting to be current, wanting to not be cast aside and forgotten. We are all, sooner or later, cast aside and forgotten - whether rich or poor; famous or infamous. All of us. It is the way our human society treats us oldies. And it is terrible. The younger ones see: 'AGE', and refuse to see, value, respect - anything else.
Someone famous once said..."In old age we become who we were meant to be." Focus on that..not what others think.🙏💖💖
You're absolutely right. I am a caregiver in my 50s. The people I watch are 70 through 90 all of them trying to remain relevant❤
Nature is God sent.I love the quiet. Thank you.
Thank you, Harrison, a very eloquent rendition of the beauty of our planet and the urgency we must feel before it's just too late.
Stop the greed of man, stop the killing of the flora and fauna. Disarm the bullies and love each other as we should ❤
Brilliant. And a much needed piece of wisdom for the coming year. I will indeed listen to the quiet. Thank you Mr. Ford.
what a clown ... flys around all day with his planes which takes 100 gallons/h just for fun ?!
Brilliant! Could not agree more, Harrison. Thank you for spreading this vital message. 21 years of meditation practice and still in awe of the sound of silence. Sadhu! Sadhu! Sadhu! 🙏🙏🙏
🙏
Thank you for those beautiful words and thoughts Harrison.
Prayers 🙏 Today LA is so challenged but good will come for great restoration. LA gave the world interest and joy, an escape from daily issues, music, TV shows, movies, and all that helped us to be entertained. Thank you, LA.
Love and blessings to you all LA
What a privilege to wake every day to this miraculous world we have been born into!
I woke this morning with your words in my mind..thank you, Harrison, thank you❤
Thank you endlessly for this poetic reminder of the astounding beauty and mystery of creation.
All things bright and beautiful,
All creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful,
The lord God made them all.
We are to be steward's, not abusers, of Gaia and all her inhabitants!
Thank you Mr. Ford. ✨💛✨
Agreed wholeheartedly - for money, material desires & consumption we've betrayed nature so cruely that I'm not sure if redemption is possible...
I don't care much for Harrison Ford, but this was beautiful. He sounds Genuine.
Thank you for using your voice to speak from the heart on behalf of preserving the wonders of our shared world. Hugs and prayers for the future ahead.
Short sweet and to the point 😮 Thanks for being one of the “good guys” ☝️❤️✌️🌍🙏
Wow, what a toxic statement.
Mr. Harrison Ford, an amazing actor, professional and human being. My hero ever since I saw " Blade Runner", the original movie, right in New York. Thank you for an amazing video/
The greatest commandment I give you is to love one another .. For God is Love
I dont think those scriptures were just for humans but for everything to love all living things around us..
Be still in His presence and listen to your inside voice
All Nature is a Devine Spark of God experiencing Life on planet Earth. The dominion we seek is over our self; not others. Thank you! Beautifully and thoughtfully written and read. Isn't it interesting how human beings go into space seeking life when we have such an abundance of it here on our home planet. Yet we're destroying so many species every day. I know that those listening to this quiet message share in the hope that we all slow down and listen to the natural world around us. We have such a beautiful planet. Best wishes!
I already loved you, Harrison. Now I love you more for doing this. Thanks to you, EO, and your team.
Beautiful 💖 My heart understands. After not being outside the city for many years, I drove the Columbia Gorge in Oregon in the nineties & was brought to tears. I was overwelmed by the beauty. Our planet is Spetacular!!! 😄🙄
Fantastic. Thanks a million, Harrison.
We can only save the human species if we reconnect with and honour Mother Nature. We need to remember who we are.
Very true. LISTEN EVERYONE!!!
Thank You Mr. Ford from New Zealand inspiring! the next generation!?
what a clown ... flys around all day with his planes which takes 100 gallons/h just for fun ?!
So beautifully shared, this we tend to forget how beautiful Earth is. I pray that we try to preserve our Mother Earth. This is all we've got. Thank you Mr. Ford. Thank you Lord❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏
Beautifully spoken, Harrison. Peace and love to all ♥
Thank you, Mr. Ford, for showing us the core of the E.O. Wilson Biodiversity Foundation in such a forceful way. Or shall I say: the core of all of us?
Thank you Harrison Ford. This is why you are my favourite actor! I wept when I watched this. Life is so humbling, so precious, so vulnerable now. May we indeed listen to the quiet. May we become the quiet.
I wish~ for all our sakes ❤
