Edson Lopes is one of the most important and awarded Brazilian classical guitarists of his generation. Having won several international prizes and competitions, Edson now has an intense activity as a solo performer and as a chamber musician. Besides, he has been frequently invited to adjudicate international guitar competitions in countries such as Germany, Brazil, and Portugal. It is therefore a great joy for us to share one of his videos as part of our Siccas Media program.

Esta foi a credencial do maestro no canal. Uma magnifica transcrição deste allegro do 5º Concerto de Brandemburgo, escrito por J.S.Bach para cravo, flauta e violino com uma sustentação de orquestra contemplando o naipe de cordas e contínuo. No arranjo o maestro nos premia com toda a perfeição que a obra exige. É possível identificar cada instrumento da versão original de Bach. Destaque para a camerata formada (4:28 a 4:45) representando a orquestra de cordas cheia. Mais uma vez "muito obrigado" maestro Edson Lopes por compartilhar conosco tamanha beleza. BRAVO !!!

What a joy! What a treat! That harpsichord solo? Amazing.
I had always known intellectually that heavy metal guitarists (Eddie Van Halen, in particular) cite Bach as an influence, but never really made the connection until I heard that harpsichord solo and thought “Damn. That harpsichord player can shred.” To finally hear it done so masterfully on the guitar was sort of the fulfillment of a wish for me.

Exquisite. My favorite Brandenburg rendered with clarity of counterpoint, with virtuosity. The cadenza-like solo is really ecstatic. Although I’ve heard Daniel Barenboim, early days, with members of the Philadelphia Orchestra, played the andante and it was revealing. What do you say?🥀💐☘️🌱🌾🌻
