  • I show you how to make an Easy Raid farm in Minecraft. This is SO simple to build. Emerald Farm, Totem Farm, Crossbows... this has it all.
    In todays episode of Minecraft Farm Tutorials with Avomance, I am showing you how to make the easiest Raid farm in Minecraft. This farm needs very few resources and basically involves digging.
    I take you through step by step block by block on how to make a Raid farm in Minecraft so you can farm for Emeralds, Farm for Totem of Undying and all the other Pillager loot like crossbows and witch drops.
    It is totally Ravager proof so you don't need to worry about a ravager blocking up your system.

    Okay this farm does work, and it is great when it does but like others have said there are flaws in it. Some suggestions I can give that work for me:
    1. Do not build this on a pillager outpost. It may seem convenient to immediately start a raid, any non-witch pillager that spawns immediately becomes part of the raid (this even includes pillager patrols) so in some cases wave 1 almost never ends. Better to get bad omen then come to this farm with no pillager spawns.
    2. Dig down the 22-23 blocks. I know he said that 10 blocks will be fine and it is. BUT you really do need a diamond sword with sharpness 4-5 to effectively 2 shot pillagers. Also if you aren’t quick enough. Evokers can use their vex magic and kill you and the villagers in the process. It’s safer to just dig deeper.
    3. Put half slabs on the glass perimeter and on the hopper instead of a trap door at the top. Pillagers and Ravagers just need line of sight with the villager and they will track them even when they lost it. The slabs provide extra protection and breaks the line of sight sooner. (Make sure there aren’t many hills, the slabs can actually block line of sight if waves are too high.
    4. You just need one villager for it to be considered a village. That’s my current setup. I believe two is just a fail safe if one goes down, the raid keeps going.
    5. Heal the villagers after a while/raid. Because your so deep underground you can’t really tell if a pillager got a shot off on one. Better make splash potions of healing to make sure they are topped off otherwise get ready to find a new villager.

      Yeah I really regret making this build on an outpost. Its been RARE that I get past level 1 because of what you said. The last raider will be on its way falling down and then another will spawn.

    I have seen many comments complaining about the evokers and heres a solution: instead of making a lightning shield above the villager area, put a small tower to kill any evokers with a ranged weapon. After you are done with the evoker(s) make your way back down to collect the evokers loot and back into the killing chamber. And for those asking how to get up to the tower, be creative. Make a small bridge up there from ground level (not in the water) and have it only be accessible with an iron door. Or make a quick platform with scaffolding and jump into some water on the tower.       I just make sure that the evokers fall far enough to be a one hit kill. On rare occasions, witches will heal them up enough to be trouble, so keep some boats stacked up nearby to hide behind. The vexes will get sucked into the boats, and you can continue to dispatch the evokers. Another solution is to put a lava bucket into a dispenser and let the "environment" kill the evokers; they won't summon vexes.

    This is my second raid farm back to back in my years old survival world on 1.15.2. The first was wattles', and it was built a stone's throw from an outpost. It worked fine after filling in a cave, 100%, but it was a bit slow due to outpost spawns so I decided to take a whack at this one instead.

    It took more than 10 hours to build this, running back and forth for materials. I had 100% fully tricked out mending diamond armor, fully enchanted bow, sword, shovel, axe and pick. Went through MANY MANY stacks of netherrack and dirt due to caves that needed complete filling in. Lost 2 villagers during the build before even trying the farm out. The actual build isn't hard, but the relentless onslaught of pillagers and raids starting every time I ran past a village to get to my base, as well as relocating villagers from several hundred blocks away requiring a railroad and extensive air bridges made it extremely time consuming. Eventually, it was all finished, exactly according to the video.

    First test: got to round 3, then stalled at 1 raider... bell tells me there was a witch stuck in a cave. I couldn't get to her and fill it in, time ran out. I discovered that there's also a ravine about 50 blocks behind the farm, and that might cause problems, but raids come from a random direction (consistent for all rounds) so I am ignoring it for now. Second test: got to round 5, then the raid failed - a vex killed one villager I presume, because one was hitting me in the kill chamber as well. The second villager was still there, so it's mystifying that it failed.

    Checking the comments here, I moved the kill chamber so the chute was 23 deep and everything would die in one hit. The third test was victory. So the farm definitely works, but there are some issues. For one, the drop should definitely be deep enough for a kill with 'a tickle of a feather' otherwise you get vexes.

    I'm not sure if I'm going to replace the dead villager (it seems to work with just the one and I'd have to rebuild a lot of rail), but I'm definitely going to take the glass panes up to the slabs that hold up the roof: one commenter mentioned that evokers with line of sight to a villager will spawn vexes to kill them. My previous farm had a villager in an airtight glass cube and it didn't affect the farm at all. In fact, I can't think of a reason you couldn't skip the entire center villager area in this video and replace it with a (much easier to build) 3x3 glass cube with a bed in the middle.

    Avo, put the trap door on the bottom of the glass block and leave it open in the kill chamber. Baby zombies and spiders will not be able to get through because zombies are one block high and the opening will be like .75 blocks high. Letting you not have to fiddle with the door OR stop the xp from getting to you.
    You should also learn to love packed ice. Line the bottom of your farm with it for better efficiency.
    Also get you some sweeping edge and sharpness.

    This video is super useful, thanks Avomance!
    With a bit of experimentation I managed to modify the design a bit though. By slapping a couple nametagged zombies up top to further traumatize the villagers (carpet block on a solid block and glass panes on each side is enough to display & trap baby zombie). From there I modified a lava drip suspended by signs and glass panes placed diagonally from central block, making it low enough to kill iron golems and ravagers but high enough that pillagers slip down the chute right under it. I took out the ravager chutes on each side to give pillagers more room to spawn in, they were no longer needed as ravagers can be killed in the center just like iron golems. Added bonus is that spiders can't block the kill chute, the iron golems spawning in will kill them and will give you a steady supply of loot even if you go afk and arent killing pillagers manually, they make pretty decent lures to draw them in too. The end result is what I feel is a more efficient design, though I'm still working on improving spawn rates. (Screencap here: I.picpar.com/Adke.png )

    Place trapdoors all around the top of the glass panes protecting your villagers and they will be much much safer, you can also replace the carpet hopper with a hopper/rail/hopper minecart with a magma block ontop of it for them to land on. Long as your still giving them a whack with your looting sword before they perish you'll still get better loot and they will die much much quicker. Thanks for the design Avomance.

    I have a couple fixes that worked really well for me. I put 1 villager in a small room about 30 blocks to the side of the kill chamber. They are much less likely to die underground, but distanced from where you are potentially fighting vex from the evoker.
    I was able to fit about 4 iron golems up on the platform where the villagers lived. The golems become the lure for the pillagers. They don't seem to be taking any damage :)
    Inside the kill chamber, I made the block the mobs land on a magma block with a hopper minecart underneath. You need to place a rail on a hopper at your collection space then put the hopper minecart on top. The magma blocks will kill the mobs except the witches.
    At head level in the kill chamber, I added a lever with a redstone trail to a sticky piston with a block that will push into the mob's heads and suffocate them. The block also blocks the kill chamber so the next load of mobs will not fall down until you retract the piston. This is really helpful for killing witches and vindicators without accidentally hitting an evoker and finding yourself in vex land. If you don't hit an evoker, it will not send vex after you so be very careful. This is what I usually do... let the pillagers and evokers die on the magma block but for all other mobs, I use the sticky piston to stop possible evokers from falling in while I kill the witches and vindicators with looting 3. If an evoker dies on a magma block, you still get a totem of the undying.
    I had a problem with raids taking over 40 minutes then timing out. I think the problem was because I moved the villager. I fixed it by carpeting the far away chunks around the chunk I put the villager in. That fixed the problem. It was a bit of work though. I was glad I have a wool farm.

      You can use boats all around the kill camber so vexs get stuck, you can kill them or let them di by themselves (they start taking damage after some time)

    I'm looking for a design to build in my survival world and this looks great.
    I built in creative first for testing and a few issues come up.
    The illagers that naturally spawn become part of the raid, making it a frustratingly long time to progress to the next wave.
    I never made it to the Evoker wave, so i spawned one in up top.
    He gets the villagers with the spikes once before he falls down the drop
    Once in the kill room, one hit on that guy and he summons the vex's and RIP to me.
    I guess some beastly protection armour would help (for both myself and the villagers)
    I tried spamming a load of boats around the kill chute , and also up top with the villagers, they trap the vex but not always!
    This is a great illager grinder, and that part is great!
    Tons of exp, a lovely way to exploit the illager AI , I love the simple mechanics of the design.
    I'm not sure I will build this on my survival world at my outpost , I think this farm would be better suited to a different location.
    Just because it takes so long to clear a wave

    Modify the killing chamber just a tad, place a half slab over the Hopper rather than a carpet -this way if any baby zombies get in the chamber it won't maul you to death, also with the half slab the XP has a place to escape to get to you.
    EDIT: Also the slab will allow dropped items to flow through to the hopper.
    EDIT #2: I Don't know how to deal with the Vexes that's killing the villagers.

    Great build, to my dismay my tower was on top of a cave system with 3 ravines criss-crossing underneath. Took me a solid 3 days to stone slab it all but now that I have this setup is working excellently. Thanks a million!

    Sure I'm not teaching you anything new here, but I prefer a 2x2 for my infinite water sources over a 1x3, that way it doesn't matter where you grab the water from, it will make a new source regardless.

    Just put a half slab on top of the hopper instead of the rug. That will stop baby mobs and let the XP flow. (I learned that from Avo's other videos.)

      The carpet will actually stop baby zombies from escaping as well. It makes the height slightly under one block, where baby zombies need a full block to escape.

    I found a little fix. Make the hole a 2x3 hole. Then on top have trap doors. If you then place a bell, you can keep an eye on the pillagers.
    Edit: Big fix!!! There is a set number of pillagers that respawn. Think of it as a team of players with a respawn timer. If you kill them all at once the raid will finally end.
    Edit again: Put a villager with an iron golem in the pit with glass panes behind the pillagers. This will help the raid keep going if the VEX kills the two villagers causing the raid to fail. Think of it like a back up.

    Hi Avo. Just finished building this farm. I agree you have to sit on things as the Pillagers who spawn in extend each wave and can impact the raid. (I found spamming torched around the perimeter lessened that a bit. Vexes are quite.... well vexing. *ducks thrown objects* Two things I’ve done is add magma blocks in the area right before they fall to their doom. Also a magma block pushed into the kill chamber does allow it to soften the tougher guys up or destroy them on auto while you snipe away at the stragglers and witched. (Witches are fire-proof it seems) Overall a great farm and works really well. Thanks!

    so for what i have found, is you can put a top slab on that kill box, and a bottom slab on the block you stand on so that the small zombies will not come out, mini zombies can go through 1 block holes but not half block...exp flows under the topslab and you can hit them from under it being a half block lower

    I like this design. The other ones I saw was really cool, and fully automated BUT it was significantly more difficult to build and reached WAYYYYYYYY into the sky, making it even more difficult to build in survival.

    Wow this is brilliant. I mined out the entire side of a mountain and when I came back to the video, you said you can leave mountains! Now I can make 20 emeralds every 5 minutes so a stack in half an hour! Thanks

    I don't mean to make an offense, but getting two villagers in there with arrows being shot at you from all angles, sounds like a long shot. I'd love to see this done in survival mode. I'm sick of seeing things done in creative like "this is how you do this". Show us these things in survival so I know it can be done without wasting a whole day trying to build it just to find out it's impossible or so difficult that it's not worth it

      BludCount it’s rlly not hard u can just kill the pillagers as they spawn and boat the villagers upwards. U can use a minecart w a villager. U can set up the villager chamber first if u rlly want and cure some zombie villagers

      I've been working on this for a few hours now and according to my statistics page since starting I've killed 500 pillagers. I have to stop to kill pillagers that are constantly spawning after placing or destroying 5-10 blocks. if i was able to do this in peaceful or creative it would take me 30-45 mins total, but its been hours with agonizingly slow progress.

    I really like this farm, it is super simple and very easy to build. The only hard part is doing all of this in survival while loads of pillagers are constantly spawning in and coming after you. AFAIK, raid farms like this are the only renewable source of totems, though.

      Just build it on the first elevated level of the outpost. I’ve not had a problem of them killing my villagers. Also, don’t provoke the Evokers until they are underground. (Autokill makes this easy as they never get aggressive

    I’d recommend you set up a roof with boats on top of the area you afk to stop vexes and also one block above where the villagers sit as well. You’d probably want to put two layers of boats if you’re gonna afk overnight, just to catch any stray vexes. I don’t know how well this works since I haven’t tried it but anyone having issues with vexes can try it and lmk how well it works.

      I also moved the killing room down 19 blocks, so everything is a 1 hit kill (sword) which seems to have worked, and evokers don;t seem to be killing my villagers off any more

    This was a great jumping off point for me in my world. We followed it mostly.
    In BEDROCK you have to have the top floor of the outpost to spawn the captains, so leave that, but build the rest. Then build a platform for yourself where you can reach the pillagers and kill the captain.
    The Witches do avoid the water, they don't walk in reliably, but we built elevated rings around the outside pool to lure them in.
    We filled in underground stuff, and have found no part of the raid party spawning more than twenty blocks below the 'village' level.
    The ravager trap works fairly reliably, though sometimes one makes it into the water, then we just shoot them to death from our elevated lure rings.
    We surrounded our villagers with boats to catch the vexs, and so far so good. We haven't had a problem like it seems others have with iron golems spawning. We also placed leaf blocks and carpet on any surface we didn't want mobs spawning in. It's one of my favorite builds and bases.
    We built a whole underground base beneath our raid farm. Building a second one now!

    you can burn it down - that's faster
    once i found a outpost with a generated lavapool IN the building, that was a very bad day for them xD

    I'm having a problem where I can advance raids because they are spawning too fast got any tips? I fixed all of the caves around the area which helped but still having trouble.

    The farm itself is great but I just built it in 1.16.1 and finishing a raid takes sooo much effort, because pillagers keep spawning and joining the raid so actually completing a wave takes time and effort

      This is why u should make a seperate raid and pillager farm. I recommend a pillager farm by a guy called chapman and a raid farm by rays works. If you end up making the raid farm by rays works then you only need the pillager farm to get the bad omen since his raid farm replenishes the bad omen effect.

    Half of these comments are people saying it doesn't work... This is a Java tutorial, this will not work on bedrock, so do not waste your time if you are playing on anything other than PC

      Don't allow the evokers to see you. Evokers spawn vexes only when they can see you.

    The natural Pillagers will add on to the Pillager Raid count, and you'll be lucky to get the next wave started. Don't do a Raid Farm at an Outpost!

    The only problem I found with this is that sometime they manage to tipity toes on the edge of the first water section and the second which makes it kinda long to wait and sometime crossbow pillagers will spawn making the raid wave take really long since the game considers them as raid participant. (I don't know if it's because I'm on 1.16.1) But overall this is a really nice farm to make.

    either some update broke it, or it never worked at all. You cant finish the raid waves, cause there are constantly move pillagers spawning and no ravagers or witches at all

    I keep seeing people use trap doors to stop baby zombies... Use a half slab. It will stop the baby and even let you kill it through the gap.

      __ionic __ i made a few changes such as adding a solid platform above the slab roof to get a clear view of pillager spawning, and i sealed the villager off completely so it would not be targeted by the evokers. the majority of them will still fall into the trap, with the exception namely being witches and evokers. i placed boats around the farm to trap any that take too long to fall in. and instead of a slab floor around the bed i placed glass blocks. while i still usually have to kill the witches and evokers or expose myself to get them in, everything else works and it is worth it for sure

    Small customization - replace the villager on top with an iron golem and place 2 obsidian and 4 layer of snow.It will not let the vex kill the golem

    So this farm doesn't work in the long term there is nothing to stop the vex from killing you or the villagers the other pillagers spawn too fast to actually be able to complete the raid in time. Good try but better luck next time

      Hello guys. Aside from Evokers sending Vexes to kill villagers, there are also instances where the raid will not progress because this pillager post spawns so many pillagers that join, hence you never get to finish them off as new pillagers spawns and adds. My solution is to build a pillager farm NOT in a pillager outpost. I just get bad omen from outpost, fly to my raid farm in the middle of the ocean. My raids get finished fast, no vexes spawn because neither player or villagers see each other during raid. I also dont get annoyed by pillagers while building the raid farm because I did not build it over an outpost.

      pillagers respawn quickly and are added to the raid total causing the raid take a long time. If you have caves pillagers may spawn in there too and the raid will likely never end.

      I had to build this twice, 2 different places, as where it was first built had hilly terrain and the idiots would get stuck in the hills, despite being single block stairs down each side, so all the drops i was getting were crossbows and banners as well

    Built this in peacefull, easy enough. Get villagers into holding cell, long but not impossible. Start the raid and run into several problems very quickly. Crossbow pillagers still manage to snipe a shot or two on the villagers every now and then. Witches absolutely refuse to touch the water on their own, have to go deal with them either by shooting them forcing them into the drain or just cutting them down. Finally, like the witches, the evoker refuses to step into the water voluntarily, plus he summons his vexes who slaughtered the villagers outright and finally he could still attack from behind the glass with his fang magic. Had high hopes but this farm didn't pan out. Ran on Bedrock 1.14.1

      ​@@kleinfeicht Still, I wonder if this situation couldn't happen in Java.. Especialy the Vexes : Villagers are not fully enclosed, so why couldn't they fly to them and kill them ? Also Witches usualy don't run into players or Villagers, during a raid you can see they stay back and boost the Pillagers. I'm having trouble imagining that the Witches would fall into the water in this farm, I see them staying back as they always do.
      Need to try this out though

    Avomance, I love you!!!! You're auto chicken cooker, tree farm, now this. All works, and....I'm on xbox one bedrock. Having said that. Everything works, except the villager platform. The pillagers spawn in it. It's ok. I have a cave close by, and it works. Even though the raid tends to start over there, I can pull them over. I was really impressed that I can raid consecutively. Despite trying to raid continuously at my iron farm. After two raids, there it cancels out. But your raid farm, it's a dream. THANKYOU!!!!! You mad genius. Cheers!       @@mango4806 Thanks, Mango, for replying. I did. I followed Avomance to a 'T'. Unfortunately, bedrock operates differently than Java. Two things I've learned. Java runs, usually, on a server. That means maps are always loaded. Versus consoles who dont play on servers. Meaning, for example, transporting thru nether portals on java, I'm assuming, you wouldn't have to physically be there, because the map is already loaded and running on a server. Number two, anytime there's a minecraft update, I'm assuming, the dev's dont want unwanted farms overloading servers with excess resources that take up memory. So whatever nerfs are done on java, it's worse on bedrock. Simply because, I'm assuming, there are nerfs that are general to the game and not to specific platforms. Having said that, avomance raid farm works, but again, I cant place villagers platform over pillagers former outpost.

      @@06twar Hi, TWAR. Thanks, for responding. I tried a work around, like u mentioned, but then the pillager respawn rates slowed down. But, in the near future, I'm thinking of placing villagers in a very small glass boxes, around the edge of the water pool area. Using different trades, so when I complete the raid, I should have cheaper trades. Since the pillagers spawn in the center. They wont spawn in water, so i left a small block plat form in the center with two blocks going down into the water. And I'm thinking if I do 10 villagers, with work stations and beds, plus 21 empty beds, it should spawn iron golems. But I havent tried it yet.

    For all people who wants to do this in survival but no peaceful, use invisibility potions and DO NOT wear armour, pillagers won't be able to see you, unless you hit/touch them

    I recommend building a raid farm and a pillager farm separately. If you build this farm and you play on harder difficulties and the raid waves are longer, the waves will never end. It takes the raid members too long to fall into the kill chamber. By the time they have fallen in, more pillagers will spawn from the outpost and add more members to the wave and you will never get to higher waves. Do not recommend.

The guys from the outpost will count towards the raid but were not spawned by the raid. Also making two seperate farms might take double the time but it would also be more than double the efficiency.

This way of doing it would be a lot more efficient but you would not be able to afk it. There are designs that get pillagers much faster than this one and designs that kill raids much faster than this one so I think it would be more worth it to invest your time to build a more efficient farm. However, if you are hoping to afk a raid farm, this one should work but it will take a long time for newer waves to start.

      Playing on hard, did the farm easily enough. Just get armor with proijectile protection, mending and regular protection. The pillagers become more or less annoying, not dangerous. If it's still too hard, build a dirt wall 2 high every 10 blocks from the center. This way much less pillagers will see you while you build.

    It doesn't work in the current update. It'll never get past the first wave of the raid because you can't ever kill all of them. Doesn't even work if you force kill them with commands

      You could still use this as bad omen farm if you replace the villigers with golems. You don't need the beast killing gates and the area has to be very flat. But it is a nightmare to do while being constantly shot at.

    Cant start 2nd wave of raid. Bar goes to zero then full bar, then partial bar and says 2 left. Then raid stops after 5 minutes or so.

    for anyone in survival you could use the boat line trick where you put a line of boats and the mobs follow you then you block their line of sight (a shield is highly advised for this method as they can stun ravagers and block arrows).

    In the later stages of a raid, I get problems with vexes from evokers. The evokers are not falling into the water trap and then the vexes kill my villagers in the centre. Is there any way to combat this problem? Thanks :)

      Hey man, you can try and make the villager chamber a bit bigger and not so tall, and fill in all the slots with boats around the villager. This way the vexes are traped in boats and eventually despawn

    After building this and making sure every cave and crevice was filled, i haven’t seen the first pillager spawn. Did everything exactly how it was shown in 2 different locations. Xbox one, Bedrock edition, survival.

    I found that putting a slab on the hopper at the bottom of the drop tube eliminates the need for the trap door there.

    So I made the farm and within 2 raids my villagers were both killed by the pillagers. The raids worked perfectly except somehow either a evoked vex or Pillager/s were able to kill both villagers. Does anyone have any idea or solutions for how to fix this? I’m considering raising the villager “box” a few blocks. If this works, how many blocks should I raise it? Any other suggestions?

      Because making a pillager raid farm in a pillager post with open field is a terrible design. The naturally spawned pillagers will join the raid and the wave will never end because you cannot kill all pillagers fast enough even with a kill chamber. The game will keep them spawning. And as some may have already learned, not easy to make because you'll get killed doing it, the villager you try to put there will get killed on transport or when an evoker tags it as target during raid. You can't ignore the pillagers while building this unless you're in peaceful mode. I have an easier working 1.14.4 raid farm, hope I can put up a video to share with others.

    Built this on Switch. 10 hours of clearing and mining. Used TNT to blow up a hill and the tower; that sped up things. As did starting a forest fire. Must have been about 50 trees oak/birch and the fringes of a jungle biome. I could hear some green peace members cursing me.... from some where. The pain in the arse pillagers just up and stopped spawning once I removed the platform and added water. I should have read the comments.... when I find a flag bearer the spellcasters like to hang out at the very edge and never jump into the water. Might try buttons to trick them on the edge.
    Oh and spiders like to clog it up. Literally block other mobs from dropping in.
    Since I built a trident killer in the kill chamber I may have to extend the drop to 4 blocks and use signs to stop the water.
    I fill in small caves and use lava buckets to fill medium sized or tall chambers.

    Couldnt you just put a half slab right underneath that glass and get that small gap? I just find trap doors to be tedious and with it behind a half slab you should be able to stand right against it and not have to worry about getting hit.

      It doesn't have to be built using the pillager outpost, i found a nice flat piece of land 100+ blocks from a pillager outpost, and just go there and get the bad omen effect, then go back to the raid farm

      Chances are there is a cave somewhere or you have a spot they cannot climb. When my wave would get to "2 raiders remaining" I'd jump out of my hiding spot and run around LISTENING for the grunts. I found I have a cave in my build by doing this. Good luck.
