    I just bought one for my Zoo Med UTH, love how long the cord is for the probe. Great for running it under the soil in my bio set up for my BP also if your probe reads 1HH when first installing just give it a bit the thermostat will turn off the pad until it cools down and will pick back up to get the right temp.

    If youre in heat mode, when does it turn the heat source off? It looks like you set a low temp you want it to trigger the heat source on, say 85°, but i didnt see a setting to trigger the heat source back off?
    I want it to be bracketing my temp between 100 and 105°.

    • @ZooMed
      @ZooMed  Місяць тому

      For Heat mode, the temperature you set is the one that the ReptiTemp thermostat will attempt to match.
      So for the range 100º-105º, I would suggest setting your thermostat somewhere in the middle like 102º/103º, that way it will turn devices on if they fall below 102º/103º and turn off once they reach that temp, allowing for residual heat to carry it a little higher.
      When the temperature drops below the set temp, devices will turn on again.
      Hope that makes sense.

      The ReptiTemp can only be set to one mode at a time, but in most cases one of the two modes should work. From your description, the ReptiTemp's 'COOL' Mode may be the more suitable option.

    This video was really helpful! However, I think I might have made a mistake and I'm not sure how to fix it. While setting up the thermostat, I had the lamp plugged in and it was on by mistake. Before I could change the programmed heat, the lamp reached 77 degrees, which is the base setting for this thermostat. Even after changing the programmed heat, it just stays at 77 degrees. i don’t know if it’s a problem with what I did or if it’s the bulb? Is there a way to reset it or something?

      When the temperature keeps rising, is the flame icon on the thermostat's screen still appearing?
      The flame icon indicates that the plugged in device is receiving power from the thermostat.
      If the flame icon is NOT on and the temperature is still rising, it may be due to the residual heat being given off by the heated objects in your terrarium or possibly the local temperatures of the room your habitat is in. If that's the case, you may need to adjust the settings on your thermostat to better meet your preferred temp.
      If this isn't the case, please reach out to our Customer Service for help in more detail:

      If the temperature that your probe is reading falls below the temperature you've set for the thermostat, it will turn on any heat device that is plugged in and will remain on until the temperature being monitored is back to the programmed temperature.
      Make sure your plugged in heating device is appropriate for reaching the temperature you desire.
      Hope that helps.

    • @AlexsAgamids
      @AlexsAgamids 6 років тому +1

      Flying Birdy, The Hygrotherm can work with a heat mat. But it’s more designed for ambient humidity and heat control (Ex. Fogger + Ceramic Heat Emitter). I’d probably be better for you to look into the Thermostat for use with a under tank heater.

    • @ZooMed
      @ZooMed  4 місяці тому

      Depending on how tight the lid fits on, pinching the wire may damage it. Zoo Med enclosures include a small dock towards the back of the top for wires to fit through without exposing any openings for your pet. Check to see if your enclosure has any. If not, you may need to find another way to fit the probe through like puncturing a small hole in the mesh top. Hope that helps.

    • @ZooMed
      @ZooMed  Рік тому

      The ReptiTemp Thermostat controls temperature but it can not force the plugged in heating element to exceed its max heating capabilities. If you're not getting the temperature you need, I would recommend a stronger overhead heat source to increase ambient temperatures (try to avoid using a heat mat larger or more powerful than what is recommended for your sized habitat). If you using a heat pad only you put the probe on top of you heat pad?

    • @ZooMed

      Generally, the probe should be placed in an area that best represents the temperatures that your pet is experiencing, so in this case yes, placing it near the heat pad at a similar level to where your pet would be is the best way to monitor that heating device.

    This seems nice, but it's not quite what I'm looking for. The alarm is nice, but what I need is something that can control itself when I'm not at home. Like when the heat goes over the set temperature, the thermometer would read this and shut off the heating device for me and allow time for it to cool, then turn itself back on once it goes below a certain temperature. Is there any device like that you could recommend?

      Good news! That's exactly what this product does. It can be used for heating or cooling and will maintain the programmed temp.

      @@ZooMed I see, thank you for letting me know. To be more specific, my primary heating device is a 100-watt Nocturnal Infrared Bulb for my kingsnake, so I needed to find a way to maintain a temperature between 75-85 degrees without it getting too hot.

      The ReptiTemp Digital Thermostat has a control range of 50ºF-122ºF, so it can be programed for that temperature assuming the plugged in heating device is capable. The ReptiTemp will heat to the programed temp before powering off, and then powering on again when temps drop, thus maintaining the programmed temp. Hope that helps.

    • @ZooMed
      @ZooMed  5 місяців тому

      When setting the controller, the temp can be set from 50ºF -> 120ºF before it cycles back to 50ºF.
      So to turn it down, just press it up pass 120 and it'll cycle back to the lower temps. Hope that helps.

    What does error code EE mean?

    • @ZooMed
      @ZooMed  Рік тому

      Error code 'EE' indicates a sensor failure. Double check the connections to the Controller's temperature and humidity probes and make sure they are fully plugged in. Probes must be plugged in at all times even if they aren't in use to avoid the 'EE' error code.

      To disable the alarm function, hold the 'Mode' button until elements on the Thermostat begin blinking, tap the 'Mode' button again to cycle between options until 'Alarm' is highlighted. From here, set the alarm to zero ('00') and wait 5 seconds for settings to be accepted (options stop blinking).
