This comparison really sets in how much has changed over time. Seeing all the little changes, like how the fallen have a more pronounced influence on the environment, how the Hive's influence on the moon has spread in our absence. It really feels like time has passed and things happened while we were away.
@@thunderlord3183I’d like to shit on activision but tbh idk which one’s worse Bungie or them bcs as soon as they left the game turned into a gigantic mess
Seeing the comparissons i think the main difference is the lighting and filters they use to do in D1, Like those lens flares, the shadows looking a different color than dark gray, the sharp lighting creating sharp shadows, i would say that D2 has a more "realistic" style, and D1 as a more "artistic" style. Bc D2 is "better" looking in terms of technical but it lacks STYLE, which is what D1 had a lot of in their environments, but it does look better in D1
I never knew how much a jump 360 - one was until this video. Weird thing is I played the d1 beta on the 360 and then when the full game arrived I played it on the one. Ahh how innocent my cute little dumb dumb brain was back then.
i still keep my 360 just to do graphics comparisons lol. now i've been kind of wanting to pick up a Xbox One for the same reason (have XSX). i will say, youtube does not do justice to the differences. on a 4k tv, x360 D1 looks unbelievably jaggy. so 'm guessing xbox one might look worse than this video shows as well.
Absolutely fantastic video, it’s crazy how at certain points for me a different console looks better. Just goes to show how those old D1 locations stand the test of time from the original game to Destiny 2
That explains why I always felt depressed playing D2 on XSX. Ever since I went back to D1, I actually enjoy playing again. I dont even mind the 30 fps. Im used to it already. Endless strikes and raids. No crucible unfortunately. Takes forever to find a match but when you do, its always the same guys holding on to what once was.
@@sleeper4245I don’t know what that guys on about, I can still play Destiny 1 to this day in Xbox One. The only issue I can think of is being unable to buy DLC on the 360 because the 360 marketplace got shut down
i really like the asthetics of d1 so much more, it feels so much darker yet grand compared to d2's which is too colorful and bright, really sold the idea of a lost solar system
From my experience, when a game is compared to irs sequel graphically, especially when their is 5 years or more gap between the two games, then the original game is superior to the sequel. The sequel was a downgrade. There should have been no reason to compare D1 to D2 if D2 was an upgraded version of D1. D1 art direction feels realistic and makes you feel like you are in the actual planets like Earth, Venus, Moon and Mars. While D2 looks like a good painting on the wall and very Dark painting
Destiny 1 i put an incredibly amount of hours in for years, D2 though i just couldn't get along with it the same and honestly only played it the first month it was out, haven't touched it since despite being free to download..although to get most contents you need the dlcs as usual.
I love how in D2 the sky is completely black.. to indicate that the darkness is closing in on Sol, as if there was nothing else left outside our solar system
There was more passion for Destiny 1, then came identity politics into the gaming world and the easy money milking that came from it for lower quality games. Gen alpha will never know what was the past.
Everyone goes "dude wth happened to the moon on d2 😂" Im sitting here like: "yeah d1 nails the space fantasy vibe on the moon, but in reality the moon looks more like d2's rendition, cold, desolate, looks alot like our night sky but everywhere, and grey."

As the local astronomer, destiny 2's is wayyy more accurate with its brighter sunlight and overall lighter surface color. Destiny 1 looks like its been dunked in water
I don't think people dislike Destiny 2's lighting all that much, it's just that the texture detail and geometry don't seem as granular and crisp, despite the higher resolution. Pay attention to the ground in the first 15 seconds of the video, D2's ground is by far the most washed out out of the three. Many surfaces in D2 look high res, but a lot of them seem kinda pastel-like. But that's the point of the comparison video, people will have different opinions :)
Of all the locations on the moon that are the same throughout all versions, you decided to focus on locations you clearly knew had different vistas and horizons. GG 🤦
