Beautiful bag... what did you use to give the gusset stability, because it looked thicker and heavier in the middle. ...
Hello krosettedesigns, Thank you for watching, I made a video to show what I did in making this bag, I will upload if tomorrow.
Arthur
Thank you so much for this information Arthur! I do have a question, do you have a video about making your handles? I would really like to know how you did that. Thanks in advance!
I love your work, and you have inspired me to make my own purses, i have a long way to go, to look as professional as you are but I'm working on it one piece at a time
Hello Katrisha, Thank you for taking the time to watch our videos and for your compliment, if you keep making your products, you will see your work get better and better each time you make something, we all have to start some where.

I enjoyed the video - and as with each one I have watched, I have learned. Thank you. I have a question - at any point in the process do you glue the sides to the gusset before stitching? Thanks...
Not necessarily Ron Thompson. It all depends on the shape of the gusset and how wide you want the bag to open. A rectangular gusset, without an increase in flap length, would fold in or out (according to how you designed the bag). Think rectangle gusset now triangular shape. You could also make a gusset that is a narrower triangle at the top and wider at the bottom if a fold going on or out at the top is not desired.
You are a great artisan! Enjoyed your video!!
Hello Barb, Thank you for taking the time to watch our videos and for such a kind compliment.

Another great video welcome back!
:-) always a joy to watch
Thank you for posting this video! It is extremely informative and helpful. And your work is beautiful! Question for you about the clamps that you use to hold the gusset in place. Is there a particular clamp you would recommend that does not leave marks on the leather? I typically work with 5-6 oz leather, and am just starting to work on larger projects that I'll need to clamp, but am concerned about leaving marks on the leather from the clamps. Appreciate any insights you can share. Thank you and God bless!
Hello Katie, You are WELCOME and Thank you for taking the time to watch our videos and for your BLESSING.
Any clamps will leave marks if you leave them on too long, just keep them on long enough to sew.

Excellent video. Thank you.

Thank you for your video, very informative. I don't do the kind of leather work that you do, but I like your videos. I make Mountain Man Black Powder accessories, Knives, sheathes, possible bags, powder horns, etcetera. I'd like to see you do a possible bag in a future video. I do all hand saddle stitching. A sewing machine would make life a lot easier, but then I'd lose that Primitive look, which is my selling feature. Thank you my friend. Keep up the great videos. I just subscribed.

Mr. Porter wonderful!
Hello Eileen, Thank You.

Did you also sew the sides of the gusset to the sides of the zipper panel?
Hello Add Love! it's always good to hear from you! I always leaves about 1" from each side of the zipper to the gusset!
Arthur
Thank you for your videos. They have been very helpful. You mentioned that you have patterns available for sale. Where do I find these. I am new to leather sewing ( really any sewing). I am looking at the bag you have in this video and would like to recreate it for my daughter in law. Thanks again for your help.
Hello Dan, You are WELCOME and Thank you for taking the time to watch our videos, if you go to our web-site www.dallasdesigningdreams.org click on our Products Page, click on web store at the bottom of the drop down and you you see t our patterns.
Arthur
Wow, how much would you charge for a bag like that? Nice!
Great video, thanks for sharing. I've seen your sewing machine video what machine would be the right one for that bag. Getting ready to purchase a Cobra class 3 or the class 18, what would you recommend?
Hello Nick, You are WELCOME and Thank you for taking the time to watch our videos, if you have not already purchase your machine, the Cobra class 3 is for very thick leather, a Cobra 3 is a great machine to have, they do have there limits, we purchase a Consew 206RB-5 with a reducer and a post bed sewing machine for the price of the Cobra Class 3, do your research and see what works for you.

Arthur,
Can I ask what you have used to stiffen the gusset?
Many Thanks
Rahul
Hello Rahul, Thank you for watching, I will upload a video tomorrow to show what I did.
Arthur
If you put a gusset in the bag with the flap you would have to add the width of the gusset measurement to the flap also or it would be a shorter flap on the bag
Hello Ron, Thank you for watching our videos, Yes you are right, if you add the width you should be okay, I would recommend you make a pattern and clamp it together and this will give you the exact size you want.

Hey Arthur. Hope all is well. Could you do tutorial one of your clutches with a gusset? I have been trying to find a way to add girth to my clutches for months but I can't figure it out (I use your clutch design method)
Hello Mrs. Smith, The problem I have right now is finding time to make videos, it look like I will not be able to make any more videos until June, I will put the Clutch Bag with a gusset on my list.
Arthur
