Cardinal Arinze I love you and your steadfastness and support for Pope Bendedict XVI. But what strikes me is that when it was mentioned that Holy Father that he was clear headed and firm and could not have rushed the decision, that is what puzzles me. If he was clear and firm why he would not continue? Was there something that we all missed? Arinze is great! I'll never forget when he gave a speech at Georgetown and ripped into them for not having any Catholic identity anymore (i.e. crucifix on wall in classrooms,having pro-abortion faculty members, etc.) and he ruffled their feathers and offended the libs. That's when I knew he should've been our Pope after JP II. Nothing against Ratzinger, but we need a more energetic, younger Pope who is NOT European.

Frankly I don't know why the Cardinals or anybody would have been shocked by Benedict's action in resigning. He has been hinting and even saying for the last few years he would take this action which according to Canon law he has a right to do.

Cardinal Arinze I love you and your steadfastness and support for Pope Bendedict XVI. But what strikes me is that when it was mentioned that Holy Father that he was clear headed and firm and could not have rushed the decision, that is what puzzles me. If he was clear and firm why he would not continue? Was there something that we all missed? Catholics must not be caught by surprises anymore, though we will continue our life with pains and suffering.

I'll never forget when he gave a speech at Georgetown and ripped into them for not having any Catholic identity anymore (i.e. crucifix on wall in classrooms,having pro-abortion faculty members, etc.) and he ruffled their feathers and offended the libs. That's when I knew he should've been our Pope after JP II. Nothing against Ratzinger, but we need a more energetic, younger Pope who is NOT European.

Frankly I don't know why the Cardinals or anybody would have been shocked by Benedict's action in resigning. He has been hinting and even saying for the last few years he would take this action which according to Canon law he has a right to do.
