    Noah is the best 200m runner currently out there. But there were some monsters in the past:
    Bolt: 19.19 into a headwind (-0.3) in his 8th race of the week.
    Bolt: 19.30 into a headwind (-0.9) in his 8th race of the week.
    MJ: 19.32 out of lane 3 in his 8th race of the week (4 of which were 400s).

    Bolt dominated sprinting for 9 years, winning every championship race from 08-16 with the exception of his false start in Daegu 2011. There's no way Noah thinks that breaking 1/3 world records and winning an Olympic gold is good enough for him to qualify as the greatest. He knows better than that.

What does that say about anything? Consistency and not much more. Bolt could have ran 2 times as many sub 20 races, let's be honest here.
      Also, Bolt could have easily run 2 19.5s performances in the same season, not even sprinters worry about that.
      Gatlin has also ran more sub 9.8s in the same season than every other sprinter. So what? Not relevant at all. When needed, Bolt peaked and he got the win, that's what's important.

    Bolt has the WR and OR in both the 100 and 200. In an era where they ran 4 rounds to get to the finals of an event. Noah broke the AR in the 200 only running 3 rounds in the 200, on a notoriously fast tract in Eugene. Noah is a 19.5 guy, he's not sniffing Bolts 200m record unless its a 1 off race in Eugene.

    • @tracktuary
      @tracktuary 4 місяці тому +6

      Exactly. Bolt ran 19.19 in his 8th race of the week into a headwind. I think MJ's 19.32 was even more impressive: 8th race, out of lane 3, and 4 of those races were 400s.

      He split 3.37/3.38s (60...100) in 2018/2019 and he still is only able to split the exact same 3.37/3.38s. He hasn't reach his peak, you say? He's not improved in this segment for 5/6 years, not by 0.01s and you say he's not in his prime? 🤣🤣
      As far as 0...60m, yes, Noah has improved slightly since 2019, but it has been marginal. In 2019 he split 6.49 60, and is now able to split 6.45s ish and on his best day 6.43s.
      He has not improved by a bit his 60m since Budapest and you think he's still improving significantly?
      Yes Lyles can still improve slightly, but we're talking a few 0.01s. Maybe he can put together the perfect performance and go: 6.42+3.37 = 9.79s. Any faster than that seems highly unlikely.

      @Yes_I_c4n 4 місяці тому +1

      @@tracktuary exactly. marginal improvement. Granted that in Budapest he split 6.43s and 3.40s, so he is yet to run hs perfect race in the 100m. We're talking about a 6.43+3.37=9.80s. If he improves a bit further, I could see 6.42+3.37=9.79s. Any lower than this, based on what he has been showing, seems unlikely at best.

    Noah was probably in his prime that year, and if he ran the 100 he probably would’ve won that too. I think if he wants 19.10, he’ll have to be running 9.4-9.55 in the 100. 9.65 won’t do it

    • @pepsiman9840
      @pepsiman9840 4 місяці тому +15

      no, hes faster in the 200m, a 9.55 would do it for how he runs. if we were to keep the times proportional (probably unrealistic) he'd need a 9.66 to run a 19.19 and probably a 9.62 for 19.10. regardless he makes good use of a running start and 2nd half so his times have been consistently faster than the 2x 100m time benchmark. nobody needs to run 9.4 to break the world record if they're actually strong in the 200m

      Gatlin was actually 33 when he ran his 9.74 PB in the 100m and his 19.57 PB in the 200m.
      Noah hasn’t peaked yet, he’s still improving, running 9.8 100m much more consistently than ever this year and a new PB in the 60m
      Bolt is definitely the GOAT currently in the 100 and 200m but Noah still has time to be the GOAT in the 200m at least if he can beat the WR and win a few more WC Golds and a couple of Olympic Golds at that distance before he retires. Usain Bolt would still hold the title of the greatest sprinter because he broke the world record in the 100m and 200m sprints multiple times. He set the 100m world record three times: 9.72s in 2008, 9.69s in 2008, and 9.58s in 2009. He also set the 200m world record twice: 19.30s in 2008 and 19.19s in 2009. Bolt won gold medals in both the 100m and 200m at three consecutive Olympic Games (Beijing 2008, London 2012, and Rio 2016), achieving a unique 'triple-triple' feat. Though one of the golds from the 2008 Olympics was later stripped due to a teammate’s doping violation, he still has eight Olympic gold medals. Additionally, he surpassed Michael Johnson's long-standing 200m record and remains the current record holder for both sprints even after retiring. Bolt’s accomplishments are numerous and difficult to keep track of, solidifying his status as the greatest sprinter in history.
      Key Facts:
      100m World Record:
      9.72s (2008)
      9.69s (2008)
      9.58s (2009)
      200m World Record:
      19.30s (2008)
      19.19s (2009)
      Olympic Gold Medals: 8 (originally 9, but one from 2008 was stripped due to a teammate’s doping violation)
      Olympic Gold Medals in 100m and 200m: Beijing 2008, London 2012, Rio 2016
      Triple-Triple: Achieved gold in both 100m and 200m at three consecutive Olympics (though one gold was stripped, he still has 8 gold medals).
      Bolt’s dominance in the sprinting world and his numerous records make him one of the greatest sprinters in history, regardless of future accomplishments by other athletes like Noah Lyles.
