A slasher almost fully from the killer's point of view sounds like a cool concept. And aside from all the walking, I'd say it worked pretty well. Also, Aurora's yoga kill is insane.
Considering were potentially watching either part 3 or 4 I’d give it one more sequel before the movie is only 30 minutes long and we finally see how these killers teleport
Doctor Who, Smile. Bill: If he's chasing us, he's moving very slowly. Doctor: Do you know what it means when something chases you very slowly? Bill: What? Doctor: It means there's a reason that they don't have to run.
@@chicanamaoist687 As someone who had two sony walkmans i can confirm you're wrong, and they did do that. You obviously never had a old walkman, as when the batteries where low( to the point it would run out) the motor would slow down and play songs like that. Slower rotating, slower sound.
I really respect it. It has been tragic to have literally millions of adult horror fans watch the show specifically about horrific horror movie deaths and have them be treated like children because of the platform it's hosted on.
The way I see it there's two ways to read the closing monologue: 1: Obvious metaphor- Yeah my brother also got attacked by a "Bear" because an undying humanoid with an axe just constantly wandering the woods is too hard to process and talk about 2: The bear is what she saw- Johnny is just the current incarnation of a nature spirit bound to the woods. Fifty years ago it looked like a bear, before that it looked like something else
I also thought it was about how nature is, by instinct and necessity, a violent place and how it doesn't care about your suffering. It's not malevolent, but it's not going to be nice and go out of its way to help you and if you get in its path it will wipe you out.
The ending scene of this movie had me and my friend so stressed out. We were just waiting for him to come back after losing focus on him. It’s like we lost that safety blanket out of nowhere
The thing is, you've been watching him this whole movie. You know he can't teleport and appear in those woods after they drove so far away. But it doesn't matter. It still FEELS like he could just show up out of nowhere and that's what the final girl's life is going to be like. Probably forever.
EXACTLY! I know a lot of people didn't like it but i was personally almost screaming at the screen lik "NO!! THIS LADY IS SO NICE DONT KILL HER!! PLEASE!!!"
@@Jaggernaut this is exactly what I say whenever I defend the ending/final act to people. It laid out the rules throughout the entire movie and the ending asks you to keep believing in them even when they are ripe to be broken through a common horror trope.
Reminds me comedian Danny Bhoy's bit on not being able to sleep while a gecko is on the wall in his room. Then suddenly he can't find it and thinks, "Damn, I couldn't sleep when I COULD see it. Now it could be anywhere."
This movie reminded me of a videogame. There was something fun about how the audio of peoples conversations would fade in as we got closer, instead of making their conversations the focus as you get in a normal film.
Honestly I’m surprised I haven’t seen somebody try and make a Hitman-like sandbox slasher simulator I’ll take it over another licensed Dead by Daylight wannabe that’s completely deserted within a few months or weeks lol
@adamus311 James is not located in Michigan. He and Chelsea are from Michigan, but live in Los Angeles. They’ve lived there for over a decade. They’ve always been open about that.
We have to appreciate how James makes these allowances and keeps things unfiltered; it demonstrates how passionate he is about what he does despite the financial rewards.
I loved the detailed backstory they came up with for Johnny - and incidentally, the loggers didn't play the prank on Johnny because of his father's prices, they did it because one of their coworkers tripped on one of his toy trucks, spraining his ankle and taking him out of commission for a while, so they pranked him as revenge. Also, am I the only one who thinks Johnny died as an adult and not a child?
Yeah, I assumed that Johnny just had the mentality of a child. I guess it could also be that they were trying to do a Jason Voorhees homage by having him die as a child but inexplicably be resurrected as an adult. Friday the 13th part 2 makes it clear that Jason didn't actually die as a kid, but almost nobody outside of *really* die-hard horror fans seems to know that.
Probably because it also doesn't really explain what actually happened to him. Not until we get the "Pamela used the necronomicon" thing in "goes to hell".@@amityislandchum

I love this movie so, so, sooooo much. From the set up of the ranger shack/mini-museum as well as the type of buildings all give me nostalgia from having grown up in old growth coniferous forests. A lot of my friends that I had shown it to describe it as "ambient horror" and, while it genuinely isn't for everyone, I believe this movie is a true masterpiece of the genre. From the use of practical effects for most of the movie, to the plot of "Johnny", it's just a love letter to all of its predecessors. When you do a second watch through, there is so much you realize that you hadn't picked up on during your first time seeing it. After having watched it ten times, I'm still finding little bits and pieces that I've missed. Truly a wonderful movie.
Nice To The Numbers bit, a little behind the scenes 😊 Glad you guys are safe, hope things get better over there Also, 23:49 Stop, stop! He’s already dead!

I once heard someone describe this as a "nature documentary" on a Jason Voorhees-style character. I really like thinking about it that way, since following the killer makes it feel like it isn't a horror movie anymore. IMO that makes the perspective shift at the end really strong, since we're so used to following Johnny and seeing him walk around. We're suddenly afraid that he's just gonna teleport in even though the entire movie has established that he can't do that
Damn, big thanks to James and co releasing this uncensored. It would have been easy to point people in the direction of the Patreon, but some of us can’t afford that and still adore the channel. That yoga kill was a bloody masterpiece!
This is one of my all time favorites. I love hiking and nature sounds, so the walking was super chill, and there are plenty visual gags during the walking scenes. Repeat viewings is what made me love it.
While i do love the yoga kill, an all timer, those others kills are so underrated like Colt's face hacking at the end. That shit is so brutal should receive an award for 2nd best kill like Silver Broomstick or something like this.
I love the behind the scenes on the original attempt at the film. It's nice to see such an honest depiction of how things can go wrong. Glad they made another attempt.
In a violent Nature is a really fun movie and I’d love to do my own slasher movie that takes perspective from the killer, and probably flesh it out a bit more! This movie is super fun and it gives a lot of love to the genre. Amazingly done
19:48 ...because as Zombieland once told us: "In those moments when you're not sure the undead are really DEAD dead, don't get all stingy with your bullets. I mean, one more clean shot to the head and this lady could have avoided becoming a human happy meal."

James, I've become so fond of these Dead Meat videos recently and love revisiting my favorite horror films with you guys. Stay safe in California, my thoughts are with you.
This whole movie is like if Jason Voorhees took part in a walking simulator. Some really awesome kills and a soothing forest atmosphere, but at the same time…….it’s just a guy walking for 80 minutes, and that’s it
But is it genuinely less interesting than the cliché slasher movie that's happening if you move the camera from Johnny to the campers? It's a slow movie for sure, but at least it's doing something with that slowness instead of being over an hour of "I don't care" punctuated by those same brutal kills.
I was lucky enough to catch this a few months before it's wide release with the editor in attendance. He did a short q&a afterward and in addition to the story of re-shooting the entire movie, he also mentioned Colt's death was referred to by he and Nash as their "Sideshow Bob stepping on rakes" moment I also thought it would be a great idea to have some edibles beforehand, and for a good chunk of the movie it was. The yoga kill was incredibly fun. Then we got to the log-splitter scene and it suddenly became much less fun 🙃
When I saw Aurora's death, I was so incredibly shocked by it and I found it on UA-cam and saved it to my phone so I could immediately show my dad, and he was also really shocked. For me personally it doesn't quite top Terrifier 2's bedroom scene, but it's an extremely close second in terms of my favorite horror movie kills.
I’m loving how horror is becoming more cinematic and focusing more on good camera work. Thank you so much for this! Also if it helps this came up on the home page of UA-cam as a recommendation!
It hasn't been age restricted yet when im watching this but it definetly seems to be supressed. It was the only new video from my subscription feed that wasn't recommended to me in my home page and I always get the non-supressed episodes recommended when they come out.
You’re telling me that while the whole Decepticon invasion was happening in Dark of The Moon, Jason was just chilling in the woods unaware of what as going on in the rest of the world? 😂
@mm123gchannel9 yeah, its wild, The Friday Reboot was produced by Michael Bay and he stuck Trent who was shia labeoufs bully in the Friday Reboot to kill him off.
Log splitters are incredibly helpful when you heat your home with a woodstove in winter. But as with any piece of equipment involved with wood cutting and preparation, they're to be respected.
One of my absolute favourite movies of 2024. I love that it’s so meditative and gruesome and that it was a local Ontario film on a microbudget. Thank you for championing this film which made me decide to watch it.
an indie horror movie that has a lotta problems? huh, reminds me of Markiplier’s “Iron Lung”. also i feel like these guys could’ve used the camera rigging that Mark and his team came up with for both “A Heist With Markiplier”, and “In Space With Markiplier”. i think theirs managed to be smaller
I don't know why, but this whole movie made me think of the song "I'm gonna be" by the Proclaimers. Cause all I could think was: "I would walk 500 miles, and I would walk 500 more" 😂
Thank you and your team for doing an uncensored video that really allows you guys to shine with your own editing and production without the need to censor or cut too much out
I like that we hear Johnnys heavy footsteps mainly and the soon-to-be victims in the background like it’d probably be scary in a regular horror movie if it was vice-versa and it works in the former for this
As someone who has spent the last 2 years crewing a short horror film during summers, yeah... last summer was rough, bad weather and a tight schedule do not mix. I spent more time watching plane flight paths and weather radar so we could get shots than footage actually recorded. Still the most fun I've had in the woods! even if we were all traumatized and very nearly crazy by the end lmao
It's more fun riffing how slow this movie is. And I'm happy that this is up. Stay safe, Dead Meat & Crew. Also, if you're confused about the ending, the point is that nature is unpredictable.
I actually loved the scenes where he's just walking. The scenery was absolutely beautiful and the camera work was stunning. I also enjoyed how the pacing picked up quickly after the second kill and it just feels like Johnny is becoming more angry and more unhinged the longer he goes without the necklace
Since they're doing video game kill counts now, I want to nominate Death Stranding for a kill count, because pretty much all of what James said about THIS movie can directly apply to that game
@11:45, it reminds of the "My Bloody Valentine" remake, the "Wrong Turn" films (except the remake of that), or "Violent Night". @25:04, actually, I read she was laughing because in the blazing Texas heat, they had to keep on doing reshoots and Marilyn Burns was happy JUST to be done with the film!
I love this movie. Aside from some of the coolest kills ever, I love how the ending dives into the myth of "henhouse syndrome/rouge animals". People like to anthropomorphise animals as evil when they act up (like that "not" Tommy Jarvis ranger who just flat out declares now Johnny's been awakened, it's open season!) Maybe just give the man his mommy's pendant. :T ALSO THE WAY HE TIED THAT GIRL INTO A HUMAN KNOT WAS THE COOLEST THING I'VE SEEN IN YEARS!
Lot of people finds it boring. So i decided to watch if it is as boring as they said. Boy oh boy, i sat there in front of my screen , eyes locked. Not even a single second was i thinking to open up my phone or even go to toilet 😂. My eyes literally glued to this film. I keep thinking "where is the boring part people are talking about!" Lol
This might be one of my favorite "To The Kills" bit, with how well it matched the methodical quiet energy of the film and showed the BTS of the show itself :)
16:16 As someone who really loves watching slasher and gore and especially horror movies, this was just a perfect kill. It was clear to me that as soon as I entered the movie, I knew that the golden chainsaw would go to this one. 😂
There’s a UA-cam video someone uploaded just of the kills and it only runs for about 10 minutes. The whole film is like 90 minutes so I can definitely see why it’s got its detractors. If the kills are enough to keep you going during the slow bits then all power to you.
I think it helps if you know what it is going into it. My first time watching it I absolutely did not lmao and the name of the movie had me more ready for more action paced slasher
Hey James I just wanna say ima huge fan of the new types of content. I will be honest I was bias and didn’t give TheGorMan a chance but my god he’s grown on me. And so has the music vid, game, comic (loved that one bruh.), and every other kill count. I’ve been watching you since I was 12 I’m 20 now. Just a wonderful Kill Count, the To The Numbers bit was informative and well shot, and the extra information on an already great movie... I know that perhaps these will never hit the high viewer counts of the Covid Era, but damn, these are some of the best pieces of media on UA-cam. Please keep it up!
I enjoyed this one, even at a slow pace... there is something specific about Ontario trees, the woods look different than the usual Canadian filming in Vancouver... feels like home :)
as someone who loves little behind the scenes stuff and cinematography (i mean i watch this channel, i'd better be into that stuff) i absolutely loved this "gets to the numbers" bit, seeing how it actually is for james, i thought the green screen would be in another room or something but it's the same room and i love it (must also be pretty handy to not have to have 2 studio's setups or constantly moving between them lol)
Ive been waiting so impatiently for this Kill Count!! Even this Kill Count feel reminiscent of the Friday (re)counts. I saw it on a midnight screening when it came out and loved it instantly. As an avid outdoorsman the whole film felt like i was watching and listening to a weekend up in the mountains for me. Really clever movie and solid Kill Count!!
Travis Van Winkle played the character Trent DeMarko in Transformers in 07' and Trent Sutton in Friday the Thirteenth 09' I guess someone in production thought Trent was the universal name for prick lol. Travis gave one of the better performances in the Friday films for sure. Great character
Love the Sponser segment 😂 Ill be honest, the first time I put my phone away, and stayed apart of the film. The second time, when Johnny just walked around, I played on Tumblr 😂

I also thought it would be a great idea to have some edibles beforehand, and for a good chunk of the movie it was. The yoga kill was incredibly fun. Then we got to the log-splitter scene and it suddenly became much less fun 🙃
2:09 goated for that
James has been the big bad billy goat for ages now brother!
Goated
When I saw Aurora's death, I was so incredibly shocked by it and I found it on UA-cam and saved it to my phone so I could immediately show my dad, and he was also really shocked. For me personally it doesn't quite top Terrifier 2's bedroom scene, but it's an extremely close second in terms of my favorite horror movie kills.
I’m loving how horror is becoming more cinematic and focusing more on good camera work. Thank you so much for this! Also if it helps this came up on the home page of UA-cam as a recommendation!
26:21 Huh? I always thought the kill count part was shot in a different room. You learn something new everyday i guess.
To be honest, filming a slasher movie from the killer's perspective is genius! Glad the kills did NOT disappoint!
It hasn't been age restricted yet when im watching this but it definetly seems to be supressed. It was the only new video from my subscription feed that wasn't recommended to me in my home page and I always get the non-supressed episodes recommended when they come out.
I'm glad you mentioned Trent also being in Transformers cause that's so bizarre, like Jason and Optimus Prime in the same universe
You’re telling me that while the whole Decepticon invasion was happening in Dark of The Moon, Jason was just chilling in the woods unaware of what as going on in the rest of the world? 😂
@mm123gchannel9 yeah, its wild,
The Friday Reboot was produced by Michael Bay and he stuck Trent who was shia labeoufs bully in the Friday Reboot to kill him off.
I think it was because Michael Bay directed both and wanted it that way for some reason.
Speaking of terrifier… PLEASE DO A TERRIFIER 3 KILL COUNT!!!!!
16:14 that is one of the most creatively fucked up deaths I've ever seen. *chef's kiss*
Holy crap its Craig splintercell
Hello critical!!
It really lives to its title "in a violent nature"
an indie horror movie that has a lotta problems? huh, reminds me of Markiplier’s “Iron Lung”.
also i feel like these guys could’ve used the camera rigging that Mark and his team came up with for both “A Heist With Markiplier”, and “In Space With Markiplier”. i think theirs managed to be smaller
I don't know why, but this whole movie made me think of the song "I'm gonna be" by the Proclaimers. Cause all I could think was: "I would walk 500 miles, and I would walk 500 more" 😂
I feel like I’ve seen this already
@@Z3R0NU11 Source? I'd actually like to see that.
@@h.u.n.k493 oh I’m not claiming I for sure have haha, just sounds really familiar lmfao
... and you will watch (almost) every step I do in this movie. ;)
Someone NEEDS to make an edit of this you're so brilliant 😂
i just know james’ sponsors absolutely love him for the ads he makes
25:48 That’s how we got to the numbers this whole time
And for many reasons including this one, it's one of my favorite ones ever!
Johnny Deserves All The Toy Cars In The World
It's more fun riffing how slow this movie is. And I'm happy that this is up. Stay safe, Dead Meat & Crew. Also, if you're confused about the ending, the point is that nature is unpredictable.
One of the best To the Numbers bits yall have ever done lol
We at last saw him get to the numbers in this one.
One of my favorite "to the numbers" bit ever
In A Violent Nature kill count on my birthday?? I've been waiting for this one!!!
Happy Birthday!!🎉🎉
Happy Birthday!!!!
It's my birthday too! Happy birthday bro!
Happy birthday! Funnily enough, it’s my birthday too
@thomasffrench3639 happy b day bro
I actually loved the scenes where he's just walking. The scenery was absolutely beautiful and the camera work was stunning. I also enjoyed how the pacing picked up quickly after the second kill and it just feels like Johnny is becoming more angry and more unhinged the longer he goes without the necklace
23:54 welcome to the thwack count im your host
ALSO THE WAY HE TIED THAT GIRL INTO A HUMAN KNOT WAS THE COOLEST THING I'VE SEEN IN YEARS!
James pulling out a Kukri is the trippiest thing I've seen in awhile
26:31 you never leave the room?! We've been lied to😡😅
16:16 As someone who really loves watching slasher and gore and especially horror movies, this was just a perfect kill. It was clear to me that as soon as I entered the movie, I knew that the golden chainsaw would go to this one. 😂
The get to the numbers was the best yet. Also 28 weeks later!??
9:19 “Paul holt !”
I know the UA-cam world is tough but I’m gonna ask one tough thing from you please please please keep this channel alive long enough for me to show my future kid ONE new video from you. You were an inspiration to me at 12 god knows how you’ll inspire my kid at like 4 lol.
Btw may you tell the TheGorMan that he is great, funny asf and he’s EARNED his spot as a host for the kill count I hope my sincerity can be read through this comment man
I also watched the movie because of the Kill Count.
Just a wonderful Kill Count, the To The Numbers bit was informative and well shot, and the extra information on an already great movie... I know that perhaps these will never hit the high viewer counts of the Covid Era, but damn, these are some of the best pieces of media on UA-cam. Please keep it up!
Even in the face of danger, James and his team still delivers. Be safe out there!
The Fenton reference wasn’t something I expected in a kill count but the joy it being me is endless!
I enjoyed this one, even at a slow pace... there is something specific about Ontario trees, the woods look different than the usual Canadian filming in Vancouver... feels like home :)
The hooks kill makes me think they really want this guy in Mortal Kombat.
Me since we need a cool character but what is his fatalities and dialogue since does he talk
The transition to the kill count was sooo funny and it was kinda cool to see the set up behind the scenes lol.
as someone who loves little behind the scenes stuff and cinematography (i mean i watch this channel, i'd better be into that stuff) i absolutely loved this "gets to the numbers" bit, seeing how it actually is for james, i thought the green screen would be in another room or something but it's the same room and i love it (must also be pretty handy to not have to have 2 studio's setups or constantly moving between them lol)
Travis Van Winkle played the character Trent DeMarko in Transformers in 07' and Trent Sutton in Friday the Thirteenth 09'
I guess someone in production thought Trent was the universal name for prick lol. Travis gave one of the better performances in the Friday films for sure. Great character
23:45 bro didnt waste time 💀
Huge props for showing the kills uncensored!! that kill at 16:12 is just crazy
Ray J being a main sponsor of this channel is still the funniest shit.. WE NEED A MARS ATTACKS KILLCOUNT NOW
Trent is in the Friday Reboot AND Transformers because Michael Bay liked him from Transformers and produced the Friday reboot
16:14 Mortal Kombat ahh kill. She’s even standing straight up as if any of that wouldn’t have folded her in half a second.
Love the Sponser segment 😂
Ill be honest, the first time I put my phone away, and stayed apart of the film. The second time, when Johnny just walked around, I played on Tumblr 😂
Would love you to do Dog Soldiers.
Excellent little British horror.
One of the best representations of werewolves on the silver screen, and all practical effects.
