Thanks for the vid. Looking forward to trying it out in Animate. Have you thought about making some videos in Animate, being that Flash is a discontinued software?

Animate is Flash. Most of our demonstrations are universal and not version-specific. For these, sometimes we use Flash 8, sometimes CS, sometimes the latest Animate, whichever that may be at the time of recording.

Nice to know this is possible. Seems for simple animations it's be better to just remake it but for more complex animations, maybe this would be good. The main pain seems to be copying the magnet targets if you have a lot of them.
Still, thank you for showing them side by side. I was concerned you couldn't keep the two in the same project as you had swapped the symbols. It's almost like borrowing them for a bit before switching back to the original name. Interesting.
Also is this video unlisted or am I seeing that wrong?

It is unlisted, yes. Will go public on Thursday.

Yes, exactly. You 'borrow' the symbol names and the rig name for a while and then rename them back. An animation that would normally take 4-5 hours to make, can be recreated with a different character in an hour or less, if you need to replicate the facial animation from scratch. But if it's only body movements, that can be done in minutes.

@@FreshlyFlanimated Oh okay yeah I guess that makes sense. I can see the usage there. Thanks for that explanation.

From my experience learning from this tutorial, yes the original preparation may be a little time consuming but then again it is quite fast. Once you have done the initial steps you need for preparing the rig you can save the character with its new rig set up and won’t have to go through the process again. If you are re using the characters again throughout a production the time consuming part has already been done and it is extremely easy and time saving to swap the characters for any future scenarios.

@@adameinfeld780 So does that mean it's then better to use the new modified rig throughout just in case you want to share animations between the two or is the modified one somehow better than the original you may have made in some way?

I did try to copy the Upper Arm layer from Illustrator to Animate Character Upper Arm Symbol and I adjusted the magnet targets, and its working fine, My question is I do have to go through this complex method, or can do simply copy-paste character layers directly into Symbols? and what are the disadvantages of this method?

Involving external programs such as Illustrator always complicates tasks because of various compatibility issues that you will face with artwork created in Illustrator and how Animate interprets it.
None of this is relevant to EDAP Tools and SMR which work in Flash / Animate only.
To rig a bunch of symbols as SMR the only requirement is proper registration - i.e. the Transformation and Registration points should match.
How you get there is up to you.

I'm just replacing new artwork to already placed symbols, removing the previous artwork, and adjusting the magnet target according to new character artwork and boom@@FreshlyFlanimated
