    I have a compulsory 12-week functional skills course to attend!
    Each day, I leave class understanding VERY LITTLE.
    Thankfully, I found the same work from class here.
    @SimonHTT thank you for saving me from my daily frustration and actually teaching more than my tutor gets paid too!
    I've shared your channel with my class and everyone is so grateful you have no idea. 😊

    For question 10 why are you dividing by 2 when trying to find out an equal distance from both side walls

    • @SimonHTT
      @SimonHTT  7 місяців тому

      For question 9, we need to divide by 2 to make sure the distance between the side wall and the bath on both sides is equal. You can do it just visually instead. Try to put the bath (of length 7) in the room and you'll soon the only way the distance on both sides is the same is if it is 2 squares from each side wall.

    Hi Simon what are the tips of revising

    • @SimonHTT
      @SimonHTT  5 місяців тому +1

      Have a plan. Work out how much time you have to prepare and where you need to focus that time. If you don't feel like you have any particular weak areas then the practice areas are great. If however, you find you keep struggling with the same type of questions, then concentrate on those, find different resources, explanations, until you can get a better understanding.
      Try to replicate some of the pressure you will get in the exam, for example timing yourself. Use the marks for each question to guide you on how much time and work is needed. Each mark represents, approximately, one step in your workings.
      Best of luck!

    Wait I didn’t get the first one cause if 5% means divide by 2 how come you didn’t do it for the 4800

    • @SimonHTT
      @SimonHTT  Рік тому +2

      5% does not mean divide by 2, but 5% is half of 10% (this is where we get the divide by 2). But before we do the halving we need to work out 10%.
      For example, if we want 5% of 200, we can use the same approach and say we want half of 10% of 200. 10% of 200 is 20 (by taking off a zero at the end) and then half of 20 gives us 10.
      Alternatively, you can think in fractions. 5% is the same as 5/100 which simplifies to 1/20. So if you do 4800 divided by 20, the first thing you would probably do is cancel a zero (which is the same as taking 10%) to give you 480. And then you divide by the 2, which is the same as one half, to give you 240.

    • @SimonHTT
      @SimonHTT  Рік тому +1

      I don't know, but it's the most recent one to be released by the exam board so was probably used up until fairly recently.
