    So I’ve been rowing veggies for four years now and I’ve had my ups and downs as well, but I finally got it with the carrots. I do plant kind of heavy and they do like to be in a bed by itself. They don’t like the roots I plant where it is not like 12 hours sun, but maybe have a day of sun and when I plant they also like to be planted under a tree so I have a race a small race bed under my pear tree and they like that so I have carrots in that bed. I have carrots in my backyard bed two of them. I’m already harvesting and I’m already succession planning so you know, when you plant them carrots, you should go every day to make sure that that thing stays moist. I don’t use cardboard. I just go every morning to make sure that the carrots stay moist and I if you stay on top of that then you’ll have success cause I already had success for the entire fall and now and I’m starting a new batch nowmakes me happy. I’m in Houston Texas. You know I’m the same. It’s really hot outside already, but I noticed there is things that like to be in the shade better than in the full sun… I still got some cabbages that I haven’t harvested, but they’re partly shaded so they’re doing really good

      I absolutely LOVE hearing your experience & what's working for you!
      I now wish I had explained that this bed gets morning to midday sun then it's in the shade as our sun sets in the east...
      I appreciate learning from others too💕

    I have never heard of the cornstarch method. This should be interesting. I will be interested in the cucumber comparison. Thank you for producing your videos. I find them interesting.

    Hi Tori, I’ve never tried the corn starch method, it’s new to me, I’ve done it with fine sand😊
    Just don’t over fertilise with higher nitrogen too much otherwise you get green tops rather than bigger carrots.Just keep it moist or put a board on it till they break through the soil, will help keep moisture in.
    The rabbits will like any small ones you thin.😊
    Hello Sidney😊

      What is going on, Rick? Thank you for the feedback. After leaving Okie Homestead, we learned that we have to be careful about how much carrots we give our rabbits. To them, it is like us eating a snickers bar the size of a pillow.

    Have you ever seen the British sitcom from the 70s called The Good Life? If you haven't it's a must. So funny because they had an episode where they were planting seeds similar to the way you are. Maybe it's a common technique, but this totally made me think of The Good Life.

    You guys are making us plant carrots 🥕. What is the purpose of the corn 🌽 starch? Wow!! The heart is still beating. The Butcher of Killeen!! The label cleaning method is creative. You got to use your wife's zero turn?? 😂😂😂. Trolls Chill 😂😂😂. Nice variety of carrots 🥕. How long do you guys leave the cardboard on your carrots? Thanks for sharing. Enjoy your day Texas Family!!

    • @TheNakidGardeners
      @TheNakidGardeners  2 місяці тому

      We leave the cardboard on the carrots for three weeks or until they germinate. I was trying to see how fast I could butcher the rabbit and still see if the heart was pumping, lol. That isn't HER zero turn 🤪 she just thinks it is.

    Question,stupid one I am sure when building a raised bed put small drain holes in bottom so roots do not rot??

    • @TheNakidGardeners
      @TheNakidGardeners  2 місяці тому

      It all depends. If you have small rodents I would not add any holes to attract them to the garden even more. IMO. Once you build your soil it will have proper drainage.

  • @happycamper3977

    What do you use the cardboard for? I have lots of cardboard

    • @TheNakidGardeners
      @TheNakidGardeners  2 місяці тому

      We cut the grass as long as possible. Then, we use the cardboard as a first line of defense against weeds. We try to overlap it at least 6" then wet it down. Then, put about 4-6" of mulch over it to add another layer of protection of weeds
