"Belonging" is a word I hadn't thought to associate with this card, that's lovely!
The thing the Hierophant usually holds is called the Papal Cross, I think it is not commonly seen much today, but apparently denotes the rank of Pope. I've read that the 3 lines are "Catholic Church, Catholic World, Catholic Heaven", the realms of the pope's "power"; but Waite apparently may have intended them to mean Id, Ego and Superego, or Conscious, Subconscious and Superconscious.
