Bought my first surfboard from Nomad in the 70's. Great board. Glad to see they are still around.

I’m 66 years old. Born and raised in Florida. Have surfed my entire life. The best waves I have ever surfed in Florida has been at the north jetties in Jacksonville Florida. When it’s happening that place smokes.... and everybody knows it.

Pensacola Beach?! Lol. It’s a beautiful beach, but the only time there is any surf is when there is a big storm out at sea.

I mean isn’t that how most surf is created? Pensacola is the coco beach of the gulf with the exception of having the cleanest water in the gulf, and it being the best spot for swells in the gulf. Besides maybe Navarre pier or cotton bayou access on orange beach depending on the certain storm. It was the only spot with a surf shop on the pier till recently.

The gulf coast gets plenty of good ground swell in the spring, fall, and winter. Storms are just a bonus in the summertime when its flat. Just this past March-April in pcb there has been a good swell at least once a week here.

It's wild how the Gulf can be a flat lake for weeks at a time, then BOOM, the right swell & wind pattern come along, creating 5-6 footers!

Fools ! There's a spot on the SW Gulf coast that's as good or better than half these breaks ........and the most people Ive ever seen out on a good day is a handful ! South of Venice and North of Naples ! Only way to find it is to have money and a boat or the ability to walk and swim for a long long time just to get to it ! Oh yeah ........it's a known Hammerhead breeding ground and even if you find it ..........the weak minded won't make it out because some places feel sharky .........this place is littered with 6-8' blacktips, big bull sharks and hammerheads !The only other place I've seen as many big sharks is Monster Hole ! I've been knocked up into the air by a huge hammerhead at this spot and I still surf it when it breaks ! Needs an overhead swell to even start and the bigger the better ! NW swell with NE winds ! Morning after a cold front is when it's firing and it only will work for about6-12 hours ! Rare yes .........better than 95%. of the places surfed in Florida ? For sure good luck and happy hunting ! You'll know if you find it ! It's a short sketchy left slab onto an almost exposed crushed she'll sandbar and a right that can peel for a good 100-150 yards ! The currents are treacherous and staying in the zone requires lots of paddling ! Fortune favors the brave though ! Here's a hint if the Naples pier is waist high from a NW direction this place will be chest to shoulder high ........and board snapping barrels ! I've seen a few east coasters that where savy enough to find it but after getting skunked a few times and breaking boards on the shallow unforgiving sandbar or getting all cut up and bloody in an already snarky spot ........they stopped coming !

Haha south beach is best from July-Nov. Worst time in FL to surf unless there is a Hurricane offshore. Typically it's winter cold fronts that bring the swells. Garbage video.
