This is the first "real" watch I bought. I've tried to sell it twice but I'm glad I was unsuccessful. The bracelet feels amazing on the wrist and the orientation of the clasp is perfect. The end links don't align with the case and lugs though. Hardlex isnt the big issue so many make it out to be.
Great looking watch, imo. But yeah, come on Seiko, give us sapphire at this price. I love the little poink sound when you show the secret measurement. 😂
I think i prefer hardlex to cheap sapphire crystals.

Honest presentation to point the negatives of this model GMT. Nevertheless, it is still ok in this range.
This is an attractive release. I could complain about the lack of bezel rotation, but I guess there is always the Seiko 5 GMTs if you need that functionality. The price is a touch high, but as you said they rarely sell for retail price. It's not hard to come across discounts. I agree they didn't quite nail this re-release of the overall line, which is unfortunate. Still, this particular model would be great for wearing to an office and using that office GMT functionality for co-workers in other time zones (something that I deal with).
Besides the three-handers, Seiko also reissued an automatic chronograph in 2020 on the 60th anniversary of the Tokyo Olympics.
It’s a pretty watch, but just note it doesn’t wear the same size as an alpinist. Wish it was a bit smaller, closer to the size of the new field-style S5 GMT.

Looks like the same bracelet as on my Speedtimer Solar, nothing wrong with it, it's perfectly fine. My Speedtimer is in the same price bracket...

They’ve been mailing it in on the details. Not a fan of their low beat movements.
I wasn't a fan of my SSK009 until I replaced the bracelet with a leather one that matches the petrol blue dial. It's a strange color that seems to have a different tint depending on the angle and lighting, so having a strap that follows it is pretty great if you don't like the OEM bracelet.
I put a dark blue Isofrane rubber strap on mine. Totally makes it look better. It originally came with the black rubber strap.
I have the laurel limited edition version, white dial ssk015. Its on a unique brown nato leather, unpainted stainless bevel. Got it under usd450.
The concept is a bit absurd thou. As a presage, it's bit too sporty. If only it has 200m wr rating, that's would compete alpinist line...
Beautiful blue dial but typical seiko, they ruin it with a hardlex. Gave up on the brand a long time ago.

For automatic watch, Seiko won't use Sapphire unless it is using 6R and selling above $650 🤣😂🤣😂. But they will use Sapphire on quartz watch selling at $200 🤣😂
I get your point, sir… but that’s not entirely accurate. Off the top of my mind, I recall the land tortoise models come with sapphire and 4R movements for well under 500€. Again, I do understand what you’re saying and I mostly agree with you…
King Turtle and King Samurai both have sapphire crystals and cost less than $650.

@@RuinasDomi if the glass is dome shape not flat, it is likely non-sapphire 😁 with 4R movement.
38mm would be better for a vintage piece.
But this is not a vintage piece.....
I have a real SUB but I also bought one of these replicas from amzwatch for piece of mind if I go to another country or if I am doing activities that can damage the watch. I don't see anything wrong with that.

The Alpinist uses a 6R35, has sapphire crystal and 200mt of water resistance and doesn’t cost 2K.
Wtf this has a signed crown but not the Prospex at over 1k??
yeah its a design philosophy thing for seiko, not a cost thing (since they make everything all in house its pennies either way). They wont put applied markers on their pro divers either but they will put it on a 100 dollar seiko 5.
It uses hardlex so can’t be better than the alpinist
