a minor factor why i went with quad cast a year ago was the added value of built in shock mount and pop filter. coming from a blue yeti with the factory issue of standard shock mounts not fitting, the hyperx quadcast coming with it built in was a blessing. plus shock mounts go for about $20-40, and a pop filter is about $10, so the mic itself is around $90-100. the convenience of having it all in one already and not having to making sure your parts are compatible is a big plus.

As someone who has the regular Yeti X, I absolutely love the software. I tend to have hard "S"es so the de-esser is a godsend for me. That and the controls built into the mic itself and being able to change it on the fly is much appreciated rather than having to go into the software to change my gain, volume or balance between game audio or mic audio.

Even comparing the audio from the mics side by side, one after another, the difference is negligible. @EvanReichert 3 роки тому +2

It’s not really the audio quality that matters (cause at this point audio quality is just personal preference), it’s how much background sound the mics pick up. The Blue Yeti by farrr picks up the least amount of background sound, than the Razer is next while the Hyper X and Wave:1 r tied at last. While your talking (if it’s a podcast, a video, streaming, or even just talking to people in games, nobody wants to hear background sounds when ur talking.

When it comes to opinions on software features, and of all things looks, I agree. It was nice however to get a wider range of voice types to demo, rather than just Harris, as I tend to be in the much higher range when using my 'customer service voice' and lower in my off hours. So being able to get a feel for what is most balanced, or at least best for each 'mode', was a big help for me.

  • @MikeRussell

Razer is certianly the worst of the bunch... but that pink tho! 😉 Out of this bunch I liked the Elgato best although it's a little sibilant so get that de-esser out. Wave also wins on quality/asthetics for me too as I'd prefer a small form mic that doesn't stand out while I'm streaming. Wave 3 is also cool but you're paying for a higher bit and sample rate along with the tap to mute button on the top so Wave 1 is probably a better deal for most streamers. EQ in OBS is absolutely the way to go or throw in a plugin like iZotope Neutron as a VST filter in OBS and get the best EQ and compression possible. If you're not using OBS you can also use plugins in real time to make these mics sound better via Audio Hijack (Mac) or Voicemeeter Banana (PC). Nice video Harris and Ryan and absolute coincidence we release a video like this at exactly the same time 🎙😁

i did a blind test and liked the elegato on the blue shirt-guys voice as my top first pick, second being the razer
all the other microphones seem to have sharp whines when a loud syllable or vowel is pronounced, whereas the razer seemed to dull out most of the sound albiet still being good quality, and thus it sounded as one of the smoothest to my ears. for me, the other microphones remind me of one of those sound graphs that spike really high in the red zone whenever your volume is too loud/ reaching the max ceiling
