I feel unreasonably proud every time you praise the mermaid fantasy barbies, cause I had the pink one as a kid and had the EXACT same reaction. She was amazing!!!!! Really cool sensory experience on top of being so gorgeous and intuitive, too.
I owned the two mermaid dolls in this video as a kid! Ah, memories. Also I laughed so hard when you said you wanted to know about This doll not to buy her… but to appreciate her in your heart LMAO
It made me also think of the ballet magic toe Barbie where you press her waist, she could leap like a ballerina but if you squish it it would walk like a ballerina, super cool
I had several of these. One thing that made the Rapunzel doll so unique is that she had a separate tower you could buy. Her hair, when lengthened, was the exact length needed to extend to the ground from the tower. Young me thought it was so cool! As an adult I feel the same, but also acknowledge how good of a marketing strategy that was. This was a fun video. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for this video! I had a Barbie with color-changing hair when I was a child, but I only used that feature maybe once or twice, because I just didn't like getting her hair wet. Now, as an adult, I own a Licca-chan doll with thermochromic hair, and it's my favorite gimmick of all. Especially at times of the year when temperatures change a lot, I enter the room and whatever hair color she has is always a surprise. It feels like she just does whatever she wants with her hair, it's very fun and I don't have to get her wet!
I don’t know if you would really consider this a gimmick, but I have always loved singing dolls, especially the Disney princesses. I have so many of them and I love them all. I got a singing and talking Ariel for my birthday one year and her hair is so pretty. Her tail also feels really bumpy and she just gives off a magical mermaid vibe. She also says phrases that aren’t in the movie which I feel like enhances the experience for me. The button you press to make her sing and talk is also a seashell which is just really cute and fun. I also have the Mirabel, Tiana, and Moana versions of these dolls. They are 15 inches and they are really detailed. Mirabel and Tiana‘s dresses don’t really have tactile detail, but they make up for it by having fun, interactive phrases and singing. Something else that may be weird is their eyes Are like the same size as real human eyes which I think is kind of cool.
I bought one of those Barbie’s that has a digital camera in her belly just so I could take it apart and see how it all worked. I bought it used off eBay, and when I plugged it in to my computer, there were all of these family photos from people I had never met. They hadn’t bothered to erase their photos. It kind of gave me a creepy vibe. It was a cool gimmick though.
Screaming, crying, throwing up, I had those magical mermaid dolls and forgot about her until I saw them just now! I would play with them in the tub all the time 🥲
I had a lot of these dolls growing up. The silicone mermaid tail dolls I had both the pink and orange hair one and over time their tails ripped especially where it bent. All these years later bought the orange haired one on eBay and had the same rip in the tail where it bent. Only downfall otherwise really cool and beautiful dolls!
I loved the Jam N Glam dolls with hair that changed from purple/pink/blue to blonde/brunette/black by twisting. They also had gummy midriffs and reversible tops. I still have the one with purple/blonde hair
I had this Rapunzel doll with the singing hairbrush. This brush was haunted. It would play on the middle of the night. It would play if you looked at it. You could slam it against the wall and take the battery out and it would still play The doll oh yeah she exists 😂 the dress was super pretty but the hair was weird we never really used that Barbie and I think she also sang or had a music box in her chest
So Quite a few things: 1. I played with my Mermaid Fantasy Barbie so much her head popped off and her fin no longer stayed attached to the tail; I'm so sad I don't have it in my collection anymore. 2.Pretty sure the Dance and Flex had a stationary plastic torso in a twist (I got a messed up one in a thrift store for super cheap because it looked ridiculous ) 3. The Rapunzel doll was very fun but the hair also clumped very quickly 4. The Bubbling Mermaid didn't squeeze well when I get it second hand but maybe it was softer out of the package Overall this video was very fun and nostalgic!
I could not think of any gimmick Barbies when you asked until I was watching this. I have a Breathe With Me Barbie and she actually helps me learn to be calm 😊 The Fairytopia and Mermaidia Barbie is gorgeous and I remember her!! 😄
@ It honestly helps me a lot. I did try an app for breathing/meditation but it made me more stressed out (I kept thinking I wasn’t doing it right) but I think since the Barbie is a doll and the meditation is made for kids, it’s more simple and I don’t get in my head about it.
The roller skating Barbie awakened a core memory in me: Ballroom Dancing Barbie. She came with a remote control stand which could move around the floor as well as execute a wicked fast spin. Her dress had a ton of material, so the skirt would flare out dramatically. There was an option to put Ken on the stand, too, as a dance partner. The main way we played with her, though, was for one of us to maneuver the Barbie across the kitchen floor while the other shot Nerf darts at her.
Surprised Jam and Glam and Bead n' Beauty Barbie weren't mentioned. Maybe Jam n' Glam could be considered a transformation doll, but the twisting scalp on her that made it so she could have either purple or blonde hair blew my mind as a child. Bead n' Beauty was also so fun to decorate the outfits of, though I definitely remember getting the beads everywhere as a kid. Still loved it though and wished I had so many more of the beads and stickers so I could customize more outfits.
OH I had "Rose Princess" as a kid w kind of the same hair gimmick! looking it up, there were 3 strands you could pull up and down individually, and it also had a "transforming" dress (which was just a short dress with a removable long skirt) I loved that one so much, I think particularly as an AuDHD kid, pulling the hair repeatedly up and down was just a great way of stimming for me before I knew what stimming was 😂
The Rapunzel Barbie is interesting because there was a 1960s/70s UK fashion doll called Tressy with the byline “Her hair grows”. I never had her but I think the hair was operated by a push button in her back.
I really like this small doll from sofia the first, particulary this one do curtsy gimmick. I think it's just so cute and seems the only princess doll who do curtsy. I might just go look around and find those beyblade kellys for me after this video lol 😂
My sister must’ve had the singing one because I remember owning it but her never actually doing anything, so she must’ve been a hand me down. But even without power she was very fun to move the jaw of and make her go “nom nom nom”
If you want Dream Glow Barbie, I'm pretty sure I still have her along with all her accessories (except the stickers), I'd be happy to give her away. I don't remember being interested in her and have no attachment. I'd rather someone have her that appreciates all the quirky gimmicks.
Also you’ve inspired me to start doing hypotheticals with my friends. We’ve done characters from Steven Universe, Toy Story, & Teen Titans so far. One of the Hypotheticals I’ve come up with is “If these characters won a million dollars how would they spend it”. Using Steven Universe as an example I said: Steven: would naively tell everyone and would end up giving it all away before he realized it because everyone would ask for money Garnet: wouldn’t use much and would put most of it in saving and a good portion to charity Amethyst: would blow it all on dumb stuff Pearl: would spend it over time on fancy but beautiful things I’m so curious what you think the Monster High characters would do!!
Ahhh love that you’re having fun with it!! Such an enjoyable little game tbh For your scenario here’s what I got off the top of my head (for G1) Cleo: Wouldn’t bat an eye, she’s much richer than that. Maybe be like “oh cool new shopping spree unlocked” Drac: Would make the mistake of telling her father and he forced her to put most of it in savings. Otherwise she would’ve been joining Cleo in the instant shopping spree Lagoona: Would be smart and careful, maybe setting some aside, but also spoils all her friends a little Frankie: gives me the same vibes as your Steven example, I think she’d talk about it a little too much and get taken advantage of Clawdeen: Invests in a TON of awesome supplies for her fashion designs, like so much expensive fabric and lace and beads Deuce: Spends an uncomfortable amount on table top gaming
Omg your Draculara 😭🤣 I feel Drac has old money but you’re so right. It seems like her dad would give her way more of a strict allowance than Cleo and tell her she needs to be responsible w her money. Also the Deuce one is cracking me up for some reason but it totally fits 🤣🤣🤣
This made me think of a doll I had as a little girl! She’s Pop Sensation Barbie; ua-cam.com/video/Vm7g6ADR-TI/v-deo.htmlsi=oUcrnYTVKN7Z8qio Between me and my two sisters we lost the doll at some point but always had the stage and her clothes for some reason 😅

I had the Dream Glow barbie as a kid and i loved her so much! I wish i hadn't given her away in my "i'm too cool and grown up for dolls" phase!
I loved my transforming fairtopia doll when I was a kid! I’d love her again.

This was a fun video. Thanks for sharing!
That’s so cool! Such a small detail to be sure to get right I love that
I was such a sucker for the mermaidz dolls with the glittery tails for this exact reason, like that's such a fun idea
Hearing you laugh about my silly Beyblade Kelly comment legit made my week! Glad you enjoyed it, I was very proud of that one 😂
You got me good with that haha

Okay I canNOT believe I forgot to include that! Totally get the creepy vibes though that does feel just…casually weird

Very cool video! My favorite gimmick Barbie is Pregnant Midge
Can we please talk about how amazing your makeup and hair look, it’s absolutely stunning
Stopppp thank you ♥️
I loved the Jam N Glam dolls with hair that changed from purple/pink/blue to blonde/brunette/black by twisting. They also had gummy midriffs and reversible tops. I still have the one with purple/blonde hair

Oh 😳 that’s…alarming
Can we get a part two of this for the worst Barbie gimmicks? That would be so fun!
I always think that music dolls are great until the batteries start to die.
So Quite a few things:
1. I played with my Mermaid Fantasy Barbie so much her head popped off and her fin no longer stayed attached to the tail; I'm so sad I don't have it in my collection anymore.
2.Pretty sure the Dance and Flex had a stationary plastic torso in a twist (I got a messed up one in a thrift store for super cheap because it looked ridiculous )

4. The Bubbling Mermaid didn't squeeze well when I get it second hand but maybe it was softer out of the package
Overall this video was very fun and nostalgic!
Bubbling mermaid barbies tail was so satisfying to squeeze... It was such a fun material... I loved her so much
I could not think of any gimmick Barbies when you asked until I was watching this. I have a Breathe With Me Barbie and she actually helps me learn to be calm 😊
The Fairytopia and Mermaidia Barbie is gorgeous and I remember her!! 😄
Aw that’s so sweet! Maybe I should pick one up I’m a ball of stress lol
@ It honestly helps me a lot. I did try an app for breathing/meditation but it made me more stressed out (I kept thinking I wasn’t doing it right) but I think since the Barbie is a doll and the meditation is made for kids, it’s more simple and I don’t get in my head about it.

THATS SO COOL omg
Now I wanna get a bubble doll

I love seeing my childhood dolls 🥲💕
Since this was mainly about Barbie, would you ever consider doing a video like this but with the brats dolls?
Maybe 👀
I really like this small doll from sofia the first, particulary this one do curtsy gimmick. I think it's just so cute and seems the only princess doll who do curtsy. I might just go look around and find those beyblade kellys for me after this video lol 😂
I suggested the dream glow Barbie! I still have her AND her nightlight! The nightlight still works too!
My sister must’ve had the singing one because I remember owning it but her never actually doing anything, so she must’ve been a hand me down. But even without power she was very fun to move the jaw of and make her go “nom nom nom”
Dance N Twirl Barbie's Gimmick Is Really Good In My Opinion
If you want Dream Glow Barbie, I'm pretty sure I still have her along with all her accessories (except the stickers), I'd be happy to give her away. I don't remember being interested in her and have no attachment. I'd rather someone have her that appreciates all the quirky gimmicks.
If you’re sure you don’t want her I’d be happy to take her off your hands!
@FaeryTaleDolls I will work on finding her!
Great video! I had the Twirling Ballerina Teresa too 💜 Love it!
Bubbling Mermaid Barbie's tail is very squishy! I have her. 😊

I thought you were going to mention the Carebear collaboration ❤
Beyblade Kelly is funny, I chuckled
I miss these one off Barbie lines it’s seems like the lines now are all predictable
Love it 🩷
I know the Monster High movies were hard for you to get through, but would you ever review the animated Barbie Movies?? 👀👀
I’ve kinda sorta thought about it? I don’t think I would do the same format or be quite as serious, but I do want to talk about them in some capacity
@@FaeryTaleDolls it think it would be fun no matter the format :3
Chat divas was a little creepy for me
You forgot MH ghouls rule. Oh wait... those looked like demon spawns from hell, my bad
I love your channel loved this video some of them are nice but it's the color change that I don't really like or the slime ones 😊 or anything plastic
