Could be a cultural thing. A form of survival tool. Most ordinary Filipinos when ask, why they like singing regardless if they're good or bad at it, most of the answer is, singing makes them forget even for a few minutes, personal problems and to most poor families who has a child that's good in singing, it becomes somewhat a TOOL to get out of poverty if the child is able to join a singing contest and hopefully win and become a regular guest at local TV shows.
Filipinos don't train so much and pay for vocal coaches to get better in singing. What we always have is a karaoke to be our training ground 😂🇵🇭 Seriously, you can hear 9% of Filipinos out of 10 in every neighborhood of our country who is so good in singing. ❣️
Her "Fly like a bird " bird cover is something else! Low notes, long phrases, incredible belting up to an A5, great and complicated runs, different switch from register and obviously her amazing whistle register doing axing runs in her whistle and even speaking in her whistle register. Also her own original song "Akin Ka Na Lang" leaves you like this!! 😱😱😱😱. I think She does a 14 or 16 second legato phrase in one breath while she is belting multiple E5 and going back down and then going back up. She even holds a Bb4 for a few seconds and jumps to her whistle register to an A6 without stopping and does a vocal run up there! Her transitions from chest to whistle are just as good as Mariah! She doesn't have to stop to access her whistle. I'm an Opera singer as well form Puerto Rico and I did a double B.A. in classical music and I'm finishing my masters. It's a breath of fresh air, listening to someone that is so well knowledge of vocal pedagogy and how the vocal folds work! I'm an ok Opera singer jajaja not the best but my technic is pretty solid and I sing in a free, relaxed and natural placement. I love your reactions! I've learned a lot in my training and have kept learning, and I love listening to people that know what I know maybe even much more ❤️ we never stop learning. Morissette is a master class singer ❤️❤️❤️.
