    It's amazing to see how unhappy Photina and her 'husband' are BEFORE they both encounter Jesus, then that happy transformation happens.....thank you Jesus. Even if the back stories aren't biblically correct, they sure know how to weave a complex story that's very engaging, as all of our lives are too.

    Great episode/commentary once again. Have you read The Chosen novels? They give so much more to this beautiful rendetion of Jesus than can be put into the show itself. Also I can never seem to get a laugh as well as a huge warm spot in my heart to Jesus' reaction to some of the miracles He performs through the Father. It's like he's getting as much joy by blessing others as the ones recieving.

      Joanna might have been the wealthiest and more influential woman who followed Jesus. And she didn't care of what people said, unlike Nicodemus who was afraid. She is paired with Claudia wife of Pilate and some tradition say they became friends and even suffered for Jesus.

    About the name "Photina": It´s the name of the woman at jakob´s well in the greek tradition. In the orthodox and catholic church she is called a Saint. Certainly it´s a legend, but it´s not a made up name by the writers of The Chosen. (Sorry for my bad english, I am from Germany)

I look forward to watching the other videos you have made, and will share these with some of my contacts who I know like learning these things. • @texaslocoman1

    Your commentary on the woman at the well might be the best commentary on this ever! She went there alone looking to meet men! It's my personal opinion that she found Jesus attractive and by the way she talks to him as recorded , and the reaction of the apostles it is clear she was actually flirting with him! I don't have scholarly base on this interpretation but this scene might confirm that Jesus was physically attractive to women not just spiritually. People go by Isaiah 53:2 to assume Jesus was short and ugly. But Dr. Luke infers that Jesus grew up taller and with more charisma and spiritual grace than the average man. Luke was a doctor and his writings give us clues of his training on observing people's behavior and looks. Great commentary!

    • @EmbracetheQuestion
      @EmbracetheQuestion  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks Carmelo. You wouldn't say Isa 53:2 implies He was short and ugly, necessarily. Right? Just, not Fabio. What I am sure about is that Jesus absolutely oozed Spirit, which made Him very charismatic and attractive to many. People are attracted to confidence and control. Jesus exuded both.

    • @texaslocoman1
      @texaslocoman1 2 роки тому +1

      @@EmbracetheQuestion People go by Isaiah 53:2 to say oh Jesus was short, skinny, weak and ugly according to the prophet's descriptive symbolic words. BUT people forget that the same prophet wrote "He" was going to be called Emmanuel, not Jesus! There is more evidence IN THE GOSPELS that Jesus was actually taller than average and physically attractive to women than evidence that he was a troll..LOL Clues that he was charismatic, psychically strong, pleasant to look at and listen to. Even clues and by using a little logic, study genetics, anthropology, racial comparison of the inhabitants of that region, verses that talks about people's color and race we can even conclude he was of light to light olive skin! He was not black, he was of the color of his Mother who was of Semitic race! He was no Fabio or Ricky Martin but sure he was no troll either. Also, people go by Paul saying stuff about hair. But Paul talks about hair below SHOULDER LEVEL. Hair to the neck wasn't considered feminine in men. Paul use the comparison of a "Veil" clearly stating he is talking about hair below shoulder level who was unnatural to be in men like many gentiles and pagan used to have their hair in the cities Paul visited! John saw a glorified Jesus with abundant white hair, possible at upper shoulder or neck level! Time to put the Jesus short, black and ugly to rest!

    • @EmbracetheQuestion
      @EmbracetheQuestion  2 роки тому +1

      @@texaslocoman1 I certainly agree with you that He wasn't some short ugly dude... completely. My point is only that He wasn't attracting people because He looked like a demigod. I believe His authority was the primary attractant.

    18:55 Yes, there is an account of Levi hosting a banquet or dinner party for others, including tax collectors and sinners in Mark 2: 15-17. The Pharisees confront Jesus about eating with the guests of Levi (Matthew) and He quotes the verse about the healthy not needing a doctor, but the sick, and also the verse from Hosea, "I desire mercy more than sacrifice."

    I see Nicodemus, (I probably misspelled it), in turmoil. He wants to follow Jesus, but he has so much responsibility that others rely on, his family for instance. So the decision he makes to stay with his family, in my opinion exemplifies " The scroll of Isaiah " when it comes to those who would be harmed by his decision to follow Jesus. He is showing mercy to his family while staying in position to aide Jesus by disrupting the pharisees (misspelled as well) in their investigations.

    So much involved, but I have to say that wife's do sacrifice just as much as the husband's. But so often not recognized by the husband or even the wife. Both husband and wife should be considerate to each other, and it's in my opinion that marriage is worth fighting for. When God is for you, who can stand against you 🙏

      Great comment. To God, a husband/wife is one flesh. In the grand, eternal scheme, I have no idea what that entails, but to your point I would say that every reward earned by one spouse in ministry should be shared by the other who enabled it all to happen. My wife does so much for our church behind the scenes... and never takes credit for anything.

Salome was Mary's youngest sister we infer this it is not written in the Gospels. NOW, the Gospel never says implicitly that these "brothers and sisters of Jesus" were Mary's children. There is no sister not even one daughter of Mary with her at the cross! This would be a grave sin. Not even a brother of Jesus comforting their MOTHER? It is implied that Jesus was ONLY son of Mary. I disagree with your description of the woman in the well.
    She was not a prostitute and she did not go to the well to flirt with men.
    She went alone because women did not want to be with her because she had 5 husbands.
    Read The Jewish laws. Men divorced their wives for nothing, and did not give them a bill of divorce. So she was going through the same thing.
    If she was a prostitute the people in the town would have not listened to her when she told them about Jesus.
    It is a true story!
