So, I didn't see anyone else post this yet (if you did, sorry for repeating), but for anyone wants to do this on 4.8, it looks like I have a way to get this profile working (since the dropbox link seems to be used for something else now). It looks like this happens because Cura has different default quality profiles for each printer. On the Ender 3 pro, they're Super Quality, Dynamic Quality, etc... You'll need to look at the Default profiles you have to type in the correct quality type below. Mine is an Ender 3 Pro, so the below settings worked for me. 1) Use the same technique shown at 10:42 to access the files in .curaprofile. 2) Instead of renaming the files go one step further and open each file with notepad. 3) In there, change the quality type to "super" (without the ""). 4) Replace the files in the .curaprofile just as shown in the video and that's it! Once I did that, I was able to import the profile without issues. Worst case, if it still doesn't work, opening the files in notepad gives you the exact settings saved in the profile, so you can just set them manually if you want.
You are an absolute legend, I couldn't figure this out for the life in me. I'm celebrating early here as I have only just got the profile to load I havent actually printed anything with it yet! Will let you know how it turns out.
The Drop Box Link Dose not have the Files in there anymore? Do you have a link to them or is this Fix no longer available? Im trying to Import into Cura 4.8 and having the same issue with my Profiles trying to import.
I spoke with someone from Cura testing team who confirmed that the Creawsome mod was the reason for the changes but nothing like this detail. Thanks for clearing this up in detail!
Very Nice explanation of why it changed. It did cause some confusion. You referenced/showed my CHEP profiles for Cura at the beginning and implied they didn’t work in the new versions of Cura. I have profiles for each of the different Cura versions available and if the proper one is selected to match your Cura version it will load and work fine (based on many users feedback)
Thanks for the comment, Chuck! I should've added a footnote, but figured if folks went to your profile page they'd see the links to the newer versions on their own. Hearted for clarity regardless. Thanks for all you do for the community.

What’s funny is that all my prints were suffering from under extrusion after going to 4.4 from the cura that came with my ender 3 pro (on the sd card) and a search took me to this video. So like nothing in this video’s intended solution had anything to do with my problem. Except... except the “ender 3 profile...” wait... what? It’s using a utilimaker profile? And... there’s a... ender 3..profile? Nervous laughter. That was yesterday. Now all my prints are strong and nice! Thanks for the insight. Then I saw a video from goober something about painting minis today and he mentioned your channel and so I came back and immediately saw that you had a Kickstarter just a few months ago and I was like “WHAT!? This is so cuuuuul. What a great ks! Damn it Marty, where’s my time machine?!” So double subscribe. Thanks again for all the insights I’ve gained binge watching you today.
I just started printing with my ender 3 pro with cura 4.3.0 with Chep's profiles as a base and im getting excellent results. Havent tried importing older profile yet but i love to get into printing small models for board games etc
Recently switched to Prusaslicer 2.1 from Cura 4.3, and as I'm experimenting on multicolor/multimaterial prints, it's definitely above Cura on that... Slicing is faster too, for now I didn't had layer shifting but never tried a >4cm height print yet.
I was able to create a custom printer in Cura and just type in the same settings that show up for my actual printer, then I was able to import old profiles into that. I don't know if this works as well as the method in the video though, because I was never able to try that.
Definitely making me want to buy an ender3 and get going! Say, you don't happen to either have - or be willing to start a series of simple tutorials to get started? Let's say I want to use either Maya or Blender to make a model (no need for 3D classes here, that's up to us to figure out) but maybe it'd be nice to see a .FBX or .OBJ that you've just made go through the entire process of using the slicer incl. supports and how to slicer (Good place to link your website and printer best miniature setting profile & how to import said profile) and then coming out as a finalized print that you kind of clean up and show to the camera. In this, you can of course link to those videos like "how much does it cost? I made a video on that too, so click here for that" let's say either a one hour mega-tutorial-video, or several shorter ones (depending on how much detail you need to go into to just have a printer that can spew out your average miniature) to help those (like me) that really want to get into 3D printing, and rather quickly getting beautiful, smooth results similar to yours for all our tabletop needs (mainly because beholders need monocles, but also for other reasons!)
I was able to create a custom printer in Cura and just type in the same settings that show up for my actual printer, then I was able to import old profiles into that. I don't know if this works as well as the method in the video though, because I was never able to try that. (yes I posted this same reply to someone else below, just want to make sure you both see it)
Not working for Cura 4.5.0. I get a unusable because it cannot find a High profile to work off it. This is when trying to use (Cura - 4.2 And Higher) 3DPrintingPro Mini & Terrain Profile - Creality Ender 3, Ender 5, CR-10, Ender 2. I tried the zip file trick but the files were already named with legacy and base as the video details.
I couldn't even get the Creawesome mod to install the Ender 3 profile or the graphic of the printer, I gave up on it after trying various peoples "fix's" that failed, I just used the standard Ender 3 profile and made adjustments to that and I'm happy with my prints, I try the odd recommendations from various UA-camr's and if they work they stay in my profile
LOL, also. that last little clip is totally the feeling of : OHHHH I FIGURED IT OUT. shame no ones here to see this moment right here... ILL MAKE IT SO ANYWAYS!
I had issues with newer versions myself. I'm relatively new to 3D printing. I don't have much experience with settings. I uninstalled later versions Cura since caused me so many problems and went back to 3.6 which worked for me. Seems like they could have just fixed setting from the beginning. I may take a look at new version again
On my Ender 3, with supports turned on for a build, I am not seeing the supports represented in Cura in Prepare or Preview. Am I missing a setting ? Thanks
A bunch of work for something that shouldn't have been needed in the first place. This is why I hate updates that add incompatible things with older files. You have to jump through hoops and then jump back through them because the devs are too lazy to take the time to figure out how to fix their eff ups.
What also works is uninstalling Cura and using PrusaSlicer instead. I've wasted too many hours porting my profiles to new versions of Cura and then having to fix them. My prints have never looked better.
EVERYONE should buy the kickstarters :) They are awesome, I have really enjoyed printing them out, your owlbear on the rock is by far my favorite owlbear, I think i have 5 others. Thank you Danny your videos got my into the 3d world and so I thank you for my addiction :)
Just bought ToAuto Pyramid A1 printer. Any suggestions from anyone is welcomed. It is just not working. I am guessing that there is something going on with profile. I am using Cura Version 4.6.1.
does this work for 4.4? trying to get siepie's profile but i wont load it says it could not find a quality type normal for the current configuration HELP!!
Don't know if it will work for you, but changed quality_type from high to super in both files and updated it, works like a charm now. for normal quality_type I would guess it changed to standard?
Loaded 5.0 with out a problem but it will not print right the print I'd full of holes . It not the printer because I can print fine from windows 10 and cura 4.8 I dont know why can you help
I am getting an error on Import saying there are no section headers. I opened the files in Notepad and inserted two new lines with: "- creality_legacy_base_previousprofilenamehere - creality_legacy_base_extruder_0_previousprofilenamehere" ...before the [general] tag. Do they need to be one line or inside the [general] tag? This is from the Add the following to the beginning of BOTH files text at 11:00
Did not work for me with 4.4.1. Everything worked right up until trying to import a profile and then it gave me the same error message as before doing the zipping renaming etc.
Prusa's official settings and printer package for Cura is super janky compared to just using PrusaSlicer 2.1. And the new version of PrusaSlicer has custom supports and all that other good stuff.
Lol I am here 2 years later and I have thought my printer was broken for months. Trying a test print with a default profile now. Lets see if this fixes it 😉
Can anyone help me? I have an Ender 3. After my stock nozzle clogged, I upgraded to a capricorn bodon tube and the kit came with a steel nozzle. Since "upgrading" I am getting crazy amounts of stringing. Using the same gcode from before the upgrade. No idea why this is happening. Is it the steel nozzle? The tighter bodon tube? Or can the nozzle bring too far off the bed cause this issue. Any ideas?
When I got my printer it was Cura 4.0. downloaded FDG profiles and was printing up a storm. Then I got into a kickstarter, within the kickstarter was the Cura profile for the guy that does all the test prints on an Ender 3 for that kickstarter. His stuff looks so good that I had to have that profile. In order to use that profile I needed to go Cura 3.6. Long story short... should I be able to continue using the custom Cura 3.6 profile on the latest version of Cura if I do what's in this video? and Danny, it's not your kickstarter but I think you can easily figure out which one.
I hate to say, but I have no idea which Kickstarter you're talking about (and that is OK). You should be able to transfer the 3.6 profile to this one using the same strategy though. Testing will be the only way to confirm results unfortunately. No easy way around it. Good luck with your printing! Have fun :)
3D Printed Tabletop The ones doing the kickstarter are the ones that did the bugbear in your kickstarter. I went all in on yours and I’m in on hers. I’m going to have so many thing to print that I’m going to drown in minis.
man... how do you know what nozzle your supposed to use with all these settings and profiles? I am trying to find an easy todo- For minis - use.... the .4mm or large minis- can use-.8mm, or doing a functional print, how to use a 1.0mm?
I know this is old but...are Cura Profiles machine-specific? I'm guessing they are. I have a Mega Zero 2.0, I'd love to print near-FDM quality character minis, but I don't know what settings to use. I'm using Cura 4.8.
Ok i may have misunderstood it. But it really sounds like this is purely for creality machines? If so it'd be awesome to see that tiny bit of information in the title next time
So idk if you know this, I have an error while trying to save to my SD card for an anycubic kobra, but is says errno 13 permission denied. Do you know how to fix it?
Applied this fix to Cura 4.3 and printed with the profiles with no problems. Just upgraded to Cura 4.4.1, and it is not happy with the legacy printers. Had to reset the configuration and will have to try this process again. Just FYI if anybody is upgrading.
It's useful to know, but it's a work around, not a real solution. What we need to know why identical settings don't work past 4.2 and what we need to change.
I am not sure about dual extrusion as most profiles I know only use a single extruder. Might be a good start to see if you can figure it out after this (and that might be why one of the files to be renamed is Extruder_0. Good luck!
Yeh , files are gone from dropbox, I am having the same issue with 4.10 with the assumption its the same issue. Would be great if someone who has them can add a link back in so that older project can still provide a valid profile. Otherwise Im gona have to load an older version which I really dont want to do.
After adding Cura 4.3 Creality Legacy Files if I choose a Legacy Printer it lists the Nozzle size as "Empty" and wont let me change it. I can't find anything I've done differently and I have tried a few restarts and fresh installs!
So, I didn't see anyone else post this yet (if you did, sorry for repeating), but for anyone wants to do this on 4.8, it looks like I have a way to get this profile working (since the dropbox link seems to be used for something else now).

Your comment is better than the video at this point. It's pretty out of date compared to the actual profiles that are offered for download..

Those folders are not in the Dropbox.
Perhaps a major version number bump would have been better for such breaking internal changes to better communicate that to users.
I cannot seem to find the 3 folders that you need to replace in de Cura software, they are not in the zip?

My problem is when i go to rename the file back to a .curaprifile, it doesnt revert back to a useable .curprofile file, it stays a .zip file
I haver the same issue

I am not sure about dual extrusion as most profiles I know only use a single extruder. Might be a good start to see if you can figure it out after this (and that might be why one of the files to be renamed is Extruder_0. Good luck!
What do you do if you get the error message cura.exe has failed...? For now I'm stuck using repetier host😕
Yeh , files are gone from dropbox, I am having the same issue with 4.10 with the assumption its the same issue. Would be great if someone who has them can add a link back in so that older project can still provide a valid profile. Otherwise Im gona have to load an older version which I really dont want to do.
That was weird seeing my comment from Facebook in a UA-cam video....
UA-cam-ception!
Hallo. Is there any solution for the Cura 5+ version?
After adding Cura 4.3 Creality Legacy Files if I choose a Legacy Printer it lists the Nozzle size as "Empty" and wont let me change it. I can't find anything I've done differently and I have tried a few restarts and fresh installs!
Hey, I have the same issue. Did you fix it?
Hello, do you have artillery genius profile for minis?
why the heck would you download a profile instead of making your own?!
I am just curious. Have you ever used arc welder with your prints?
