I am going to do a lot of sourcing/buying for the rest of the year and really try harder on my ebay store. At that point, I'll definitely submit my store for review. I totally agree. you have to collect what you like. im 32 and I'll never forget the days when my dad would take me to the local card shop. one day the employee tells me he's got new pokemon cards in japanese that aren't out in English yet and pulls out japanese team rocket and it was the coolest thing ever. dad laughed and said "you can't even read what's on the cards!" I didn't care. I was the only kid around with japanese cards at school and ive been in love with japanese cards ever since. you're the man Steve. happy you're enjoying making videos. I’d love to see a video on your mindset and thinking of how to handle cards based on condition. I recently picked up a $1500 card but i wouldn’t say the condition is amazing. Maybe a PSA 6 at best. What would you do with a card like that? Also, how to deal with damaged cards and not get bad reviews 😂. I’m very hesitant to sell and list anything less than NM. Am I missing a large portion of the market by avoiding damaged/played cards and backlogging them?
Just commenting because I genuinely enjoy watching these videos and you in general. Thanks for always sharing and having a positive outlook even though it was a little dark at the very end. But yes I generally agree it's much harder to enjoy a pokemon card as a decoration or display piece when they are so small. For that reason I started collecting jumbo cards. I wish I had started sooner as there are so many out of my 10 to $20 price range. Especially the Japanese ones.

Hiya Steve, wanted to say that I've been loving the content lately, in particular your order-picking video you did recently, gives great insight to your organisation and thee types of items people like to buy! Now for my question: From a perspective of pure profit (to fund collecting of course) do you think it's better to buy and sell numerous low-value items (not necessarily low-margin, just items that yield maybe 3-5 USD profit) or aim for a few higher end items, like PSA 10 alternate arts? Items that are repeatable sales, but offer 100+ USD profit per unit with a larger cost per unit. For context, my eBay store has ~200 feedback at 100% positive and I've sold half a dozen ~200 USD items in the past without a hitch. Thanks again, Steve! I’d personally love the variety of videos cause it keeps it entertaining , only suggestion I can think of is, I don’t mind seeing some of the other cards you grade ( like Yugioh ) like a small percentage of them in any of your psa returns
You might have answered this already, but when you're searching on Japanese sites, are your searches in Japanese or English? And if they're in Japanese where do you get the best translation from, Google or copying and pasting from other websites?
Big thanks for answering my question on what to keep and how to store. I mainly open for fun, not trying to complete sets. Just trying to have a little fun opening packs for myself and with my kids. I buy a lot of seal mainly to hold on and if the kids want to open them and relive some of our old fun, great. If they rather sell it and buy something, that's fine too. But again, thank you for answering my question. And I 100% agree that there are a lot of clowns charging money for their bad advice/things that most people will learn if they just start buying/selling. I'm coming from the world of Magic the Gathering, so this last bit of confirmation on what to keep will really help out when it comes to space, lol.

(I'm not sure how Pop effects value is assume it does tho)

Question for next video. Japanese search terms. Since your always sourcing cards. How do you deal with your translated search terms for buying Japanese cards on different websites. Do you save them it the notes on your phone? Any advice on how to get better results other than google translate? My results are always all over the place on Japanese mercari. Searching one specific card or Pokémon is easy i just struggle finding what to search for collections.

I have a question for your next episode…a bit of a multifaceted question, but I’ll try to ask it through my own personal story: I recently PSA graded a 2001 CoroCoro Shining Mew from my personal collection. I thought it would get a 10, thereby paying for $300 grading fee based on final value of graded 10s sold on eBay. It came back a 9…and if I sell at PSA 9 prices, my margin is quite low (when coupled with the price I originally acquired the raw card). I should have paid for cheaper grading service tier based on PSA 9 final value. Has this happened to you before where you overpaid for the grading because the card came back at a lower grade? And what do you do about it/do you try and regrade and risk losing all potential for profit? Finally…from your experience, how true is it that PSA will hand out grades based on what you service you pay for? I hear rumours that if you pay for a higher service for a more expensive card, they will be more inclined to give you the higher grade…and vice versa…if you pay down for what should be an expensive PSA 10 card, they will give you a 9 instead. What has been your experience if PSA comes back and later up charges you on a card they deem to fall into a higher service tier? Should we purchase lower tier service for grading just in case and let them reach out if we need to pay the difference when the card turns out higher a higher grade (and higher market value)? Sometimes I buy singles that I think are undervalued and believe will go up in the future. Instead of just holding on to the cards for potentially years, what are your thoughts on just listing them right away but at like double the price. Is that better than just holding and hoping they go up in the future ?

Hey Steve, some feedback; You're obviously new at this, so I'm going to give you some pointers on how to make your PSA return videos better. First, you need to have everything face down; don't reveal it straight away. Before turning the card, slowly pan the camera up and down the reverse side and inspect the corners and edges. Then, with your thumb covering the grade, turn the card over and once more pan the camera up and down as you recall which collection you bought this particular card from. After a few minutes slowly.... SLOWWWLY remove your thumb to reveal the grade. Whatever it is, you need to act excited with noise level and open mouth circumference relative to the grade. Do this for every card. I'm joking. Don't change anything But seriously though, wouldn't mind if you showed off some of your more treasured collections. I understand why you don't do this, but some of the truly more rare and valuable items that most of us wouldn't even be aware of would be very cool to see. You could make this an educational style video on the where, when, how, who, why of the card etc. Also have you considered a vlog style "day in the life" vid? This would be a bit tedious to edit and maybe crossing some personal barriers, but I think a lot of would be interested in watching. And before you think this would be boring, most fitness channels thrive off of this material and most of it is literally their morning routine, drive to the gym, the workout itself and what they ate that day...Yeah. Don't change anything about your filming style or presentation. Love what you do mate - Cheers.
How do you gain confidence in your own ability to make decisions and spend money in the hobby without need confirmation or approval of others in the hobby. I’m young and have little confidence in general, but I know I have the ability and knowledge because I do really well. Sadly I always feel the need to ask people about the things I do.
Question for Ask Steve 13: Sold two cards on eBay (immediate payment setting always on) 3 days later the card is out for delivery and the buyer deleted his account so ebay cancelled the transaction and it says my payout will still go through. Everything I looked up it seemed like ebay still pays you out but do I have to be on the lookout for them trying to scratch the money back in the coming weeks? But they also don’t want to have a good career cause they think they will be stuck there forever. Too many tiptoeing casual pretend entrepreneurs. Isn’t the value from the Pop and how it’s so low? I was looking at Japanese Neo Lugia (like the 1 u got at a 10 congrats btw) and the English 10 is 30k 😮 but there's only 40 of them (PSA 10 I believe) doesn't that drive the value? (I'm not sure how Pop effects value is assume it does tho)

I always wondered what you meant by sausage roll, they look mighty tasty. I've been loving the daily videos, I always work with youtube open so it's nice to see your stuff daily in longer format. You mention regularly that you resubmit cards for grading. I think by now many people have their method of cracking slabs. Can you show the way you have found is safest to do that? Perhaps a separate video, or you have already shared that info?

Question for next video. Japanese search terms. Since your always sourcing cards. How do you deal with your translated search terms for buying Japanese cards on different websites. Do you save them it the notes on your phone? Any advice on how to get better results other than google translate? My results are always all over the place on Japanese mercari. Searching one specific card or Pokémon is easy i just struggle finding what to search for collections.

I have a question for your next episode…a bit of a multifaceted question, but I’ll try to ask it through my own personal story: I recently PSA graded a 2001 CoroCoro Shining Mew from my personal collection. I thought it would get a 10, thereby paying for $300 grading fee based on final value of graded 10s sold on eBay. It came back a 9…and if I sell at PSA 9 prices, my margin is quite low (when coupled with the price I originally acquired the raw card). I should have paid for cheaper grading service tier based on PSA 9 final value. Has this happened to you before where you overpaid for the grading because the card came back at a lower grade? And what do you do about it/do you try and regrade and risk losing all potential for profit? Finally…from your experience, how true is it that PSA will hand out grades based on what you service you pay for? I hear rumours that if you pay for a higher service for a more expensive card, they will be more inclined to give you the higher grade…and vice versa…if you pay down for what should be an expensive PSA 10 card, they will give you a 9 instead. What has been your experience if PSA comes back and later up charges you on a card they deem to fall into a higher service tier? Should we purchase lower tier service for grading just in case and let them reach out if we need to pay the difference when the card turns out higher a higher grade (and higher market value)? Sometimes I buy singles that I think are undervalued and believe will go up in the future. Instead of just holding on to the cards for potentially years, what are your thoughts on just listing them right away but at like double the price. Is that better than just holding and hoping they go up in the future ?

Hey Steve, some feedback;
You're obviously new at this, so I'm going to give you some pointers on how to make your PSA return videos better. First, you need to have everything face down; don't reveal it straight away. Before turning the card, slowly pan the camera up and down the reverse side and inspect the corners and edges. Then, with your thumb covering the grade, turn the card over and once more pan the camera up and down as you recall which collection you bought this particular card from. After a few minutes slowly.... SLOWWWLY remove your thumb to reveal the grade. Whatever it is, you need to act excited with noise level and open mouth circumference relative to the grade. Do this for every card.

But seriously though, wouldn't mind if you showed off some of your more treasured collections. I understand why you don't do this, but some of the truly more rare and valuable items that most of us wouldn't even be aware of would be very cool to see. You could make this an educational style video on the where, when, how, who, why of the card etc.
Also have you considered a vlog style "day in the life" vid? This would be a bit tedious to edit and maybe crossing some personal barriers, but I think a lot of would be interested in watching. And before you think this would be boring, most fitness channels thrive off of this material and most of it is literally their morning routine, drive to the gym, the workout itself and what they ate that day...Yeah.
Don't change anything about your filming style or presentation. Love what you do mate - Cheers.

How do you gain confidence in your own ability to make decisions and spend money in the hobby without need confirmation or approval of others in the hobby. I’m young and have little confidence in general, but I know I have the ability and knowledge because I do really well. Sadly I always feel the need to ask people about the things I do.

Question for Ask Steve 13: Sold two cards on eBay (immediate payment setting always on) 3 days later the card is out for delivery and the buyer deleted his account so ebay cancelled the transaction and it says my payout will still go through. Everything I looked up it seemed like ebay still pays you out but do I have to be on the lookout for them trying to scratch the money back in the coming weeks? I think problem with a lot of people. They need to focus on having a more professional or long lasting career. Everybody wants to quit their job and be UA-camr or card flipper or stock trader but they don’t want to save or sacrifice to do it. But they also don’t want to have a good career cause they think they will be stuck there forever. Too many tiptoeing casual pretend entrepreneurs. Makes us kids really scrapping by and putting in work look bad.
