    52:00 is the most important question of the interview and her answer is disappointingly vague. “Working out my breathing muscles until I sweat…” what is the full workout for the breathing system?? That’s the answer we need 100% to improve health. Like, specifically what is the program??

    This is a very useful and insightful interview. As someone who recently read Breath by James Nestor and The Oxygen Advantage she really helps further understand the practices they recommend. I'm a convert to vitrually 100% nose breathing including excercise for over a month now and really feel the difference. Cheers and thank you both.

    Yahoo at 16minutes into this I am encouraged that I have been breathing correctly. I changed or added Diaphragmatic breathing to my life as an exercise, over the past 12+ weeks, the result of utilising a HDbro sports mask Ive enlarged the expansion capacity of my diaphram. I walk for 15-20 minutes purposefully breathing this way. Good for staying focused on the breath.

    Once again a nice interview. Can you also make a video about proper breathing and bracing while working out?

    I believe the chicken or egg question DOES matter. Some pulmologists use this as an excuse to stigmatize people when they could just refer them for breath retraining (or at least alert them to the options out there). "It's all in your head" is not helpful.

      Maybe the reason she didn't answer it is because it differs from people to people? Maybe some started breathing in upper chest not necessarily because they are stressed, like when they are child and started gut sucking like they see in adult, and when they became an adult, it caused their chronic stress and anxiety. While some people became stressed that is caused of school, work or other external factors which in turn, caused them to frequently breathe in upper chest which will cause the loop of chronic stress and upper chest breathing.

    She’s excellent. A genuine teacher and coach. Nice one! Thanks for enduring the heat.
    I do have a question, on the inhale with the diaphragm should we allow the chest to fill as well or keep the breath deep in the lower lungs only? Thanks to anyone who can answer. May every one who reads this have a very peaceful day!

      Yes. The chest is needed for a full breath and rib cage expansion.

      So it's a partial yes - you want to make sure your upper chest is not too active and that your neck and shoulders are completely relaxed. What the exercise is also teaching you, is to move your breathing down so as to not use those accessory muscles that are not needed for daily breathing.

    When moving your hips on inhalation and exhalation - do you mean tip the top of your hips forward and sticking out your butt on inhalation, and the opposite, tipping the top of your hips backwards moving your pelvis towards the front and your abdomen towards your belly button on exhalation?

    • @hannahconroy
      @hannahconroy 7 місяців тому +1

      yes :)

    • @jakobw135
      @jakobw135 7 місяців тому

      @@hannahconroy It seems that the logical thing to do when inhaling is to push your abdomen down and out - and when exhaling is to push your abdomen up and towards your back, and therefore, your pelvis also backwards.
