Interesting how everyone is more mad at these parents than the wealthy parents of the actual killer of Preston Lord who hightailed their kid to Costa Rica to avoid prosecution. At least these ones are not trying to hide him from the repercussions of his actions. He should definitely go to jail once found guilty.
I just find it hard to take the outrage on here seriously when there are parents, white parents, school officials like the coach at ALA actively shielding and hiding killers from the law. The entire community knows who these thugs are. They are repeat offenders who have previously sexually assaulted, beaten, stolen from their community, used drugs and always got away with it. Why aren’t they speaking out?

Absolutely untrue. The only child sent out of the USA was a victim beaten before the death of Preston Lord. These peoples kids are one of the “white rich kids” that are part of the Gilbert goons. Wonder how the media is getting the color of the kids wrong. His step son is a Gilbert goon & named by the FBI & is in the videos beating on Preston.

I’m so confused by some of these comments. When did they put the responsibility of kid rearing on the police??
I’m not in AZ I live in TX, but what do parents do, or what options do they have, when their kid continues getting in trouble and running away from home anytime they dole out consequences? Legally I mean. Because in TX if you are a habitual runner, you will go to juvenile detention where you can’t take the easy way out and run away.

Increasingly, good parents are unsuccessful in correcting the bad behaviors of their children. Increasingly, our communities are unprepared to offer meaningful assistance.
    - These concerned parents are not expecting the police to "raise" their son; they are asking for assistance because their appropriate and common punishments have not corrected his behavior. I do not view their comments as an excuse or blame. They have discipled him when he exhibited poor behavior (taking away privileges, etc) but he continued to make poor choices. They are saying that assistance from the police may have helped to change their son's behavior. They are saying the police should not have taken months to notify them of a fight in which their son was involved.
    - We are a society capable of solving problems when motivated to do so. Unruly, unreachable children doesn't have to be a hopeless, national dilemma.
    - Isn't it reasonable to stop labelling and blaming concerned, involved parents and provide parents and schools the help they need to effectively discipline and modify unruly, disruptive behavior? Appropriately trained therapists and counselors are the solution. Perhaps there is a role for police involvement in particular situations but enforcing behavior modification techniques upon our youth is not a core job function for them. Similarly, handling mental health crises is not a core function but the police are often the ones called and expected to handle the problem. These issues are at the heart of the discussions about the role of policing in the USA.

It's not the job of the police taking responsibility for the kid. They could have gone to church with the kid every Sunday. They could have actively help him pursue his gifts and talents. They are blaming the police. This step father is soft and is passing the buck. He talks about his step son as if he does not live underneath his own roof. It's not all about discipline - being a parent is about actively getting ahead of issues. They sound very lazy and have a very simple understanding of parenting.

It’s frustrating when incidents happen and the parents are kept out of the loop. If the communication was better, then the parents can timely address the issue which is more effective. I had an issue with my sons school when he was growing up and they didn’t communicate any information, then one day I got a letter that they were kicking him out. I went to that meeting and was flabbergasted they had been hiding stuff in his file and openly lying to me about it during teacher conferences , etc. in fact, I was in constant contact with the school!!
The reality of it is, schools hate communicating with parents and they don’t want to bothered. You would think they would find another profession, but they don’t. They sweep problems under the rug and don’t care. I see his point.
After my kid turned 18, then he experienced consequences when finally out of school. A lot of schools are jokes.

Making excuses for her son & his step son when he is absolutely on many videos with the goons of Gilbert, and yet claim he’s not. Making excuses the cops “sweeping it under the rug”, when it’s one of their kids threatening them to not go to the cops. That’s all I hear is the man making excuses. Yes, I know where my 16 year old is every day, when she’s not in school, she’s with us, when she’s at an event, we’re also there. Claiming the cops aren’t doing anything when it took from May to January and the parents didn’t allow the kids to go to the cops. This could’ve been taken care of if the community came together & made it mandatory that the parents know where their children are. Using the race card is classic when these goons are all races and all classes.

The police do not impose punishments on charges , the stepfather has not a clue that the Maricopa county attorneys office imposes and sets punishment for juveniles, not the police. A “runway” charge is known as an “incorrigible” juvenile and gets no punishment for the juveniles, it is one of the lowest charges known on the books. For these parents to think take my child away and lock him up to make a “point” is punishment is absurd. To believe moving your kid from south Phoenix to avoid behavior issues is also absurd. Karma has certainly reared its ugly head on this family. Really sad.

Don’t blame the cops, they can’t arrest the kid for running away and not committing an actual crime, so NOW you want the cops to bend the rules? NOW you want them to break the law? Only when it’s convenient for YOU, if they would’ve arrested the kid there would be outrage.

I think it’s rude to call people stupid for expecting parents to be responsible for their children? 6 children is too many unless you are extremely wealthy and have a lot of help.
So it’s not surprising to me that she has one with problems. Few people can take care of and afford 6 children.
Now you want the police to raise your child? You want the police or you don’t want the police? The police are afraid to touch children.

Parents can only take away phones and TV time, whoa. Meanwhile, my step dad would physically discipline us, with a cutting board, proudly hung on the wall, as a reminder. Guess what, it worked. In today world, the teacher sees a mark and the child is the victim for their actions and the parents are the responsible parties.

For all you stupid people who are blaming the parents really need to shut up. I learned a long time every child is different. These kids learn that if their parents spank them they can call the police. The government is tying the parents hand when it comes to discipline. Parents can't do what was done back in the day because they would end up in jail or lose all of their kids. When I was growing up if you misbehave at school, the teacher would spank you with a board. They didn't call the parents and ask for permission nor did they tell them they got a paddling. My niece has 6 kids who don't have any problems with 5 but there's one ALWAYS in trouble. The government ties the parents hands because the kids learn there's no consequences. The minute the child does something serious they charge them as if they are adults. I just watched the news not long ago a 13 year old child was robbing and carjacking people and he shot one of them. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison. He has to serve all of it before he is considered for parole. That person he shot didn't die but this child has to grow up in prison. He can't even be considered for parole until he's 43 years old.Nobody knows what their kids are doing when you are not in their presence. You can't put anything past any child. Peer pressure is very real. One of the hardest things my son deals with is caring so much what people think or say about him. I didn't want any kids because this world today is horrible it's almost impossible to keep some kids on the right path. You can't spank them because you are going to jail. This is why a lot of parents end up in jail or prison because they lose it and go overboard with discipline a challenging child. If you have a good child get on your knees and tell God thank you. He blessed you with a smart, polite child because there's some parents and at the edge because they have tried everything. So instead of blaming the parents, see if you can do something to help because it takes a village to raise them. You can change that child's life and do the world a favor because he is no longer breaking into homes or cars or God forbid robbing and murdering you or someone you love.
