Bagworms killed 3 trees I had in my yard. It wasn't until after I had the trees removed that I found out what had killed them. The Bagworm pods looked like they were part of the trees and didn't raise my suspicions at all.
Bagworms can destroy, particularly arborvitaes and evergreens in general, quickly. Even though it's a pain to go after them by hand plucking them off a tree I choose to do it this way because i have cardinals nesting and mantises that attach egg sacks to my evergreens and i don't want to poison these creatures with sprays. I check the base of the tree first and go as high as i can before pulling out the ladder to get the fuckers that are destroying the tree from the top down. I can't emphasize what a scourge these things are. I also emphasize that you have to be tenacious and tireless. I'm addressing an infestation as i write and I've been out every day for a week now pulling bagworms off 7 infected trees and "bagging" them for disposal. I've probably pulled off well over a thousand so far and my attitude is "they won't win".
I just threw out a dying tree thinking the cones were the dead leaves. MFers were hiding in plain sight. Once the tree was out the bag worms started hatching instantly realizing they’d been evicted.
Use BT bi-weekly in your whole yard starting in May. It's a lot of work but it's the only way I've kept evergreens alive over 16 years. My neighbors don't treat...just keep cutting down trees 😒
Our trees have had them for about 5 years now. Cannot take them off of the trees, because the trees are about 40-50' high. We had an expensive spray job done one year and the results were minimal.
N2F1 I’m pretty sure there is something you can buy and spray around the tree and the tree will suck it up through the root system and then when the bagworms feed it will kill them all. Go to your local greenery and inquire about it, they should know the best way to kill them! I hope this helps!
Have a large bush in front of my trailer, was very healthy. Also had alot of wasp nests around. Got rid of wasps, now my bush is dying from bag worms. I want my wasps back.🙄
Take off as many as possible and treat the tree with the pesticides and then feed the tree with fertilizer and plant food. If you still have green on the plant you might be able to save it, but you have to get rid of the bagworms
We put SO much time and effort into our trees for privacy down a fence line.. bagworms killed EVERY one! I bought pesticides and research and they ended up being just too much trouble with little result. Devastating!
After 12 yrs my evergreen is kilt. Saw a pine cone walking and research led me here. I'm coming for you bagworms and hell is coming with me you hear ? Hells coming with me ! 😠 😡

I just found this out.
I removed a dying tree and all the cocoons started moving.
🤣
I’m like wtf is happening?!
I am going to pick you from here for your awesome comment
These things always creeped me out because I thought they were pinecone things, until one time I stepped on one and the guts came out
Honestly. I always assumed they were little pinecones until I saw the entire tree was wiggling around.
Why am I even watching this? I have exams tomorrow and live in the Philippines. I have better things to do, but why?
😂😂😂😂 same! Except it’s Summer here in the US and it’s 1PM on a Saturday. I have absolutely nothing to do…yet, I’m also asking, “why?” 😅

@@epizzle9232 thank you very much. Did not know about that.
Skip ahead to 2:45 to when he actually gets around to telling you which insecticides to get, which is probably why you're here.
Does stopping on the bag/cocoon kill them and the eggs?
You'll want to spray in June.
i hate that customers wait till its past the time to control them, they dont want to pay till its to late

I enjoy making friends from around the world 🌎🤝I am proud to have your friendship . I wish you peace and happiness
If the tree is defoliants will it recover or is it dead?
I lost one of my arborvitae last year. They can kill a smaller bush in a week. They are relentless.
