  • Yep, I got myself a 1911 in .45ACP of course! Sure, it's a Chinese
Norinco, but so far I've been surprised by the quality and reliability
of this firearm and further research tells me you will be too.
This model specifically is the 1911A1 so it's done up like the
original WWII era sidearm used by the US Army from 1911 until the mid
1980's when they switched to 9mm (NATO) and the Beretta M9.
The 1911 is now over 100 years old, originally designed by John
Browning and built by Colt (along with GM, Singer, Remington etc during
WWII) the 1911 has become popular with target shooters for having a
short, crisp, single action only trigger pull. The patents held by Colt
eventually expired and today there are literally hundreds of companies
making 1911's. From Colt, Ruger, Sig, Remington, Rock Island
Armories, Norinco and many more. You can get the 1911 in many
configurations, even different calibers (45ACP being the original) to
more modern adaptions with skeletonized triggers, hammers, extended
beaver-tails, flat main-spring housings, forward slide serrations, ported barrels, ambi-safety
selectors, even frames with rails to mount flashlights and much more.
The 1911 is one of the most beloved and customizable pistols of all
    time.
Norinco is a Chinese firearm manufacture who makes firearms for both
the Chinese military and for civilian export sales. They made many
military service weapons including the Chinese SKS and several AK
variants. Their SKS's and AK's both have a reputation for being well
built, just as well built as the Russian arms they're based on.
They still make the Type 97 Bull-pup Assault Rifles for the Chinese
Military but they also make several versions of classic American
firearms inc the 1911, Sig P226 and M14/M1A rifles. Well I'm not so
sure about the Sig clones I've heard only praise for the 1911's and
M14/M1A's. I guess you could say if there's one thing the Chinese are
really good at making, it's firearms.
