The statues are mostly memorials. They honour important historical events or people.
That one statue with the sword is Arminius, who led Germanic tribes to victory against the Roman legions who were trying to enter Germany / in the Teutoburg forrest 9AD.
Hello, you both are very sympathetic.
I suspect the person on the right is better off in the UK or France. The person on the left is sympathetic to Germany and can certainly feel very comfortable in Germany.
Think about it. Thank you!
4:42 this is the Bremer Dom.
7:22 That is Frederick I, called Barbarossa, from the noble family of the Hohenstaufen, was Duke of Swabia from 1147 to 1152 as Frederick III. He was Roman-German King from 1152 to 1190 and Emperor of the Roman-German Empire from 1155 to 1190.
07:16 is Friedrich der I, called Barbarossa (Rotbart) 1122 - 1190 Emperor of the Holy Roman-German Empire
The statues are memorials to important historical events, fighters or emperors.
10:35 when the tide comes back in the mudflats are covered by oceanwater ... it is in/on the water
3:29 is the building that is used as Leipzigs town hall. The one after is the memorial of the battle of nations (final battle bewteen mainly Napoleon against Prussia, Russia, Sweden and Austria). When you stand directly infront of it, it is so much bigger than it looks from a far.
That is Münchens Cityhall (Münchener Rathaus) and the column in Berlin is called The Column of Victory (Seele Colln in german)erected in 1872 in memory of the victory over France in Franco-Prusian, the monument is dedicated to dedicated to Hermann a national hero who had defited and made romans to think twice before invading german soil all that he had whilst being at same time a Roman soldier, citizen and adopted son of one the comanders he had fought against.
2000 years of history ... beeing German isn't easy sometimes. BUT nether the less it is a beautiful country.
It's just gold coated not pure gold 😉
Freiburg was spelled like a german native
At 13:02: It is highly unlikely you will find a petrol station on the island of Helgoland because the whole island is a car free zone. Bikes and scooter are prohibited too. The only exception are ambulance, police and some material transports (which use electric cars).
If you want to visit all these places,it would take years.
Greatings from Germany
12:40 Helgoland is Germany's only island in higher sea. You can reach it by ferry from Hamburg. I think only 2 times a day. The ride takes around 3 hours. My friend and I plan to go there for the first time this year. Not gonna lie, I am a little bit scared by the 3 hour ship ride.
I'm not intending to scare you any further, but if the sea is particularly rough that day, be prepared for people puking all over the place 😂 Better bring some sickness medication
But we have more Islands
Germany ❤❤
good german accent
Hello my friends, be sure Not every place looks like this.... Like disney world. There are also places where people pumping heroin in there venes
The Gold statue is the Siegessäule in Berlin at the top is the golden Godess Viktoria of victory
4:58 That is "Herrmann der Cherusker" a leader who united the germanic tribes in the year 9 A.D. to crush the romans and free the german tribes from roman rule. He is the reason why there ever could be a Germany in the first place.
Many statues are of famous nobles/military people from the area. Sometimes they are represented as mythological beings (e.g. Greek demigods or gods/German mythology demigods).
This video is IMHO nice but doesn´t explains a lot. There are some channels that do a better job at explaining history and therefore also statues/castles/ cathedrals etc.
PS: Bücher means books. Many shops in the walk-only historical city center put out those signs for people to see what they offer.
