The Morlan Family: Our Teenage Adoption Story
Вставка

- Ron and Karen Morlan are proud parents of 4 kids: Lauren (17), Abbie (14), Andrew (12), and Isaac (12). The Morlan family previously had plenty of excitement with Abbie and twin boys. One of the twin boys, Andrew, has had many health issues including a kidney transplant. Still, there was a calling to foster care. God had clearly called Karen first, but slowly through patient conversations, Karen and Ron both felt they were supposed to become foster parents. The “agreement” was to foster babies. A room with a crib was prepared. In 2010, Karen and Ron welcomed a 12-year-old girl into their home, proving that God certainly has an awesome sense of humor! Not long after, the Morlan family forever changed when Lauren was legally adopted.

Thanks for sharing. When I grow up and have finished college and am married, I'm going to adopt a teenager.
In the last two days I saw your comment under two videos and I really liked what you had to say:)
+PX Xaver Thank you! I like to share my opinions on videos just for fun. I hope one day that the people who are in the video see my comment. :)
Petranellam04 Yes that's what i like about You Tube it's also great to have (positive) discussions in the comments:)
+PX Xaver agreed :)
I'm 20 and I am going to do the same! :) God blessed me with so many great friends who were adopted (many in their late teens), and since I have two illnesses that would result in awful complications and me not being able to even hold or pick up a toddler. I love teens so much (even though I am just recently an adult) and it just seems like such an awesome way to show someone you see them, and love them, and are ready for anything they can throw at you.
I was a teenage foster child. Now being 22 years old I am finding a passion for reaching out to people like me. I am hoping to start something to work with foster children and families. Your family is like the perfect example. I would love to talk to you all and reach out.
Katrina Kelly hii...
Katrina Kelly I'm a Foster child and I want to help out children when I'm older
i know I am kind of randomly asking but do anybody know a good website to stream newly released movies online?
@Lane Musa i watch on FlixZone. Just google for it =)
@Kolton Santana Yup, I have been watching on Flixzone for years myself :D
I can’t wait to adopt a teen! I really sympathize with teens in the foster care system. They deserve homes with a loving family. I know how it feels to be deprived of that.
Most people think teenagers are too damaged to adopt and only want to adopt babies.
What a beautiful story! I have wanted to be a foster parent since I was 19 yrs old. I'm 34 now. My husband and I took classes, but were turned down saying we had too many kids already- we had 3 at the time. We now have 6 bio, but still feel our hearts being drawn to foster/adopt. I'm a CASA now waiting for the courage to try again to become a foster parent. We are anticipating any child that we would be a good fit for between ages 1 day old to 1 day away from aging out.
you'll get your child ....and you'll both know its the right one he or a
she is waiting
I thought you could have 6 total?
Find another agency. Now.
I think you have a case with your state children's services department in your state capital for appeal. Find an Attorney who specializes in adoption to represent you.
It should've be any business of the agency to say that. Agencies are wanting people to adopt, but they put really stupid roadblocks in the way.
Sometimes I see adoptive families with 10 kids. I think if you have enough space and can afford to take care of them, who cares how many kids you have. I have a heart for teen adoption and have 6 bio kids. I would be heartbroken if that stopped us from being a family for a child who needs one
She deserves to be loved!!❤❤
What a beautiful story and what a beautiful young lady! I'm so happy for all of them! God bless all of you! ❤️
I’ve been called to adopt preteens and teens (yes several) since I was about 7. I am now twenty five, and the Lord has laid it on my heart to pray for my children. I’m excited to see what He has in store for my beautiful future children. I’m young, and not yet married but I know that i want to learn as much as I can to prepare for them :) thank you for sharing your story, it’s so nice to know that others understand the calling and acknowledge the Lords band in all of it :)
These children go through such heavy heavy emotions and experiences
May our loving God continue to bless your family. Embrace everyday as if it were our last. In Jesus's Name!
Beautiful family. And what a strong girl. I wish you all the best!!!
Thank you for sharing your adoption story. I'm glad God placed you all together.
I can't believe kids are still carting around their belongings in a trash bag. That just seems so inhumane! I always think that's going to change, but it's still what I'm hearing. Wow. Anyway, beautiful story! Beautiful family.
Beautiful, thanks for sharing.
Beautiful beyond words ❤
Thank you for sharing your story.
Looking for more of the larger picture, the good and the bad the raw story. These stories are great to hear but they don't give the whole picture.
Liz P you are very correct in that a short video can't possibly tell the whole story (I'm Ron from the video). Foster/adopting a teen is hard...probably the hardest thing we've ever done! The relationships are complicated...the trauma runs deep. I'd never want to paint the picture that it was easy and the story mirrors some sort of fairy tale...'cause it doesn't. I DO want to paint the picture that it is WORTH IT and love often looks different than we expect!! (though I do like those darn Hallmark movies!!)
@@RonMorlan beautiful story and testimony. Ron, do you have any advice for how I should approach my husband and who doesn't feel the calling to adopt, but I do. Specifically older kids. I am trying to be kind and loving and patient etc...but it's so incredibly hard. I just want to shake him! Back me up here Karen! 🥰
Wow, thanks for sharing your story. What a beautiful testimony of God's faithfulness when you were willing to step out on a limb and take a risk.
This video is a real blessing.
Beautiful story! God bless!
Spiritual perception is a precious guide.
Praise God for what beautiful things He does!!!
Blessings for all.
I loved hearing your story. What a blessing. I too have a heart for adoption.
What a beautiful story. She's a very fortunate girl. She got to live with her biological family and then get adopted much later by a wonderful family. Didn't like the parts in between. Those detention centres were horrible
I would love to know what the book was that change the way you thought about adoption.
Chap 2 of "Forgotten God" by Francis Chan
Karen, what advice do you have for other women (myself) who has a husband who is adamantly against adoption but you feel God hasn't just laid this on your heart but tucked it in with a nice blanket to boot.
The hearts of kings are in His hands. He hardens and softens hearts. He can soften and turn your husband's heart. I hope it works out for you.
Can you share what book you read that made you feel more convicted? My husband and I just turned in the paperwork to start fostering to adopt an older child or sibling groups. I have a lot of worries and heard Ron talk about the book he read?

I believe they were talking about "Forgotten God" by Francis Chan
Can u adopt me please
What a beautiful girl. Glad she found a good home at such a pivotal age. Now she’s headed in a positive direction.
aww I am so happy for them
Awesome! X
check out triggs adoption cus he is my brother
@pauljamison3340 We all know only children living in specific areas deserve families. Smh 🙄. I wonder how many children you've adopted since you are so sincerely concerned for them
I'm just curious what you meant by international adoption just "wasn't for you" ?
+Cameron Perry We just felt we were to begin the foster care process. We are ALL FOR international adoption though!
Beauty Amidst The Ashes Ah okay! thanks for replying!
There are a lot of international adoption scams. Parents who are still around being told that their kids are actually going for an overseas scholarship till their 18. They are shocked to find out that their kids won't be coming back and when they do come back they don't know their language or culture etc. They even become afraid of their own people. It's super sad but until local governments can intervene for these kids it will keep happening cause there is a lot of money to be made with international adoptions. Do lots of research.
Nepal Vietnam Ethiopia India Russia and others have all eventually instituted bans on international adoptions. India will allow Indians living in the US to adopt however.
🔴What was the name of the book? (Thank you)
Forgotten God by Francis Chan, Chapter 2
Amazing. What s loving an brave family! I hope we will be in this position one day. Please could you have a look at my little channel and meet my family? X
So glad you adopted from home and didn't follow your friends to adopt from overseas!!!
I am abdouted with my sister
