So damn funny. Karen Allen & Jeff Bridges have great chemistry. the way he acts like an alien like he isn't 100% familiar with his own body. great acting here. Such an underrated movie.
If you seen the movie you would know that he starts off very jerky and acting like a marionette with broken strings and as time goes on he begins acting more and more human. The amazing thing is movies typically are filmed out of sequence. Every time they would set up a new scene Jeff had to remember exactly where they were in the timeline so he would know exactly how alien versus how human he should act. Not an easy thing to do and exactly why he received an Academy Award nomination for best actor ( which unfortunately he lost to the guy who played Mozart in the Amadeus movie that year)
Jeff...Not and Underrated actor...Under-awarded. Period. Who else could have competed with this level of acting in that same year(s) to that caliber? NO ONE! HE KILLED THAT ROLE! Who else was better?
This scene was filmed along Interstate 15 in Nevada near the junction of US 93 (Exit 64), which is where they escape in the pickup truck headed north on US 93 towards Coyote Springs and Hiko.
My first cigarette when I was 6 years old. My older brother who was 10 had gotten a pack of Winston's. We went behind our parents garage. He had smoked before. He offered me one. I watched him. Inhaled and nearly coughed to death.
@@PlumbPitiful I know who Bridges played. It's just that this movie feels like how Meredith Quill chose to remember Ego as opposed to what Ego actually is.

It was. I had it taped off HBO and watched it a ton when I was a kid. I wouldn't be surprised that when edited for network TV broadcasts they could have taken that moment out.
A true masterpiece that still holds up to this day in 2024. Sifi and a love story to boot.
This scene is very Melvyn and Howard

That’s everyone’s first reaction to any kind of smoke in their lungs. 😂
Yep, been there in the 80's as well 😆
You're not from around here, are ya?" Great understatement.
The cigarette part gets me every time. Hilarious.
“Roadblock I guess” was the best line in this scene and it’s cut out. 😢
jeff bridges played his role beautifully
He does everything beautiful
It's unbelievable how credible he is as alien👽
Both he and Karen Allen delivered award-winning performances. Actually, there's not a bad performance by any actor in the entire film.
Always laugh at this scene how he impersonates the driver and chokes on the cig, then that killer line ..wonderful movie 👍👏 😁
Jeff Bridges is underrated as an actor. He has made some great movies over the years.
Whaaa? He has 7 Academy Awards nominations and one win. He's one of the most beloved actors of our time.
He’s very successful stop saying underrated it’s become a trend in the comments
He's probably far better than most celebrated actors such as Brad Pitt
@@CinematicMaj Devaluing the meaning of the word like it was done to "epic" not that long ago.

This movie left me so many lines to say. Since I'm currently unemployed when someone ask me whats my job I answer "I make Maps"🙌
the coughing is so spot on and hilarious

Does that truck stop even exist anymore?

cool! i think i went down 93 to get to Vegas a few years ago. The desert area although stark and arid was actually quite beautiful.
Buck had either a beard or at least a mustache in every movie I've seen him in. Didn't even realize that was him until now.
I make maps.. Make any money? I make maps. haha
Best first cigarette cough ever
Can’t believe they have video of me trying my first cigarette on the set 😮🤣

Looking at this clip you can see where Tom Hanks got his "Josh eating caviar for the first time" reaction in "Big"
I make maps 🤣
Bread, geeters, arm and a leg lol

Martian spacegirl kidnaps Peter is 80s flashback rocker smile
My bro. "I'll take ya! C'mon!" While he scoots off with the goddesses in his highboy.
John Carpenter was on his game with this movie.
Great movie
I make maps...
This is like the prequel to GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2 except Ego isn't evil.
LOL! I think you're confusing Jeff Bridges with Kurt Russell! Jeff Bridges played the bad guy Obadiah in the first Iron Man movie

I know man- That's a great scene!
I'd take 80's Karen anywhere, tho I was about 13 when the movie came out.
Yup
Great movie. Can anyone correctly identify the make model and year of the cook's car? I would like to know!
It's a road block I guess
the clip is cut too short at the end.... ugh....
1:56 I'm glad I don't smoke. I've never smoked a packet of cigarettes in my life. 🚭
cut the clip too soon .. as usual!
Your not from around here, are you?
*rOADbLOCK, i gUESs*
Hey, I think that is my brother Mark. But he does not remember anything. Scary.
is that Joe Don Baker?
the homeless man in Back To The Future
His name was George 'Buck' Flower. But he did look a lot like Joe Don Baker, without the facial hair he has in nearly every movie he was in.
❤❤🎉YEAH IT S FUN
😊
😂
Lmbo!
Thank the Gods it wasn't heroin.
the smoking part wasn't in the movie so far as I remember.
It was. I had it taped off HBO and watched it a ton when I was a kid. I wouldn't be surprised that when edited for network TV broadcasts they could have taken that moment out.
Yep. It was. Same as below. HBO. Betamax. Watched over and over as a kid.
