Regional Pharmacy Leaders, Pharmacy district managers, what ever the title, are hesitant and fearful to advocate for proper staffing in their understaffed pharmacies. I've heard about and have known some that did and they were yelled at, demoted or fired for not for not being with the program. Now, understaffed pharmacies are being looked at by state authorities for long wait times, dangerous work environment for pharmacy staff and patients, increased number of prescription errors, and pharmacies closing early or not at all due to being short staffed. They are directed by corporate to have a hostile stance toward older pharmacists in their 50's forcing them out of their jobs for pretense reasons. The pressure is high for these regional/district leaders and in over 40 years i've never seen one last more than a few years if that much. Anyone who interferes with the bonus program of the top leadership will not last long. Rite Aid has had a history of unethical and illegal behavior that as led to fines, law suits, and has even had a CEO sentenced to prison for 8 years accounting fraud (cooking the books).
