Where can I buy the chart that you have with all the parts on it for repairing the lighter.do you have a link to where I can buy one or do you sell them.. where is the best place to buy them an do you have a link for where to buy the tools you need for repairing them such as tool for taking out fuel valve an for taking off part where flame comes out of it.thanks in advance..
I've repaired a Ronson Varaflame. Old flint had gone hard to drilled it out like in your video. Put it back together, the flint wheel runs nice and free but when I put a flint in the wheel won't turn to get a spark......any ideas
If you all mean that you have verified the flint tube is now free enough for the flint to get to the wheel, and that the wheel seems to turn reliably when there is NOT a flint inserted, but that when you put a flint in and reinsert the spring - THEN it feels "stuck?" Possibly the spring has too much force - I'm not sure why, but over time or use, a flint spring may expand or contract so as to not apply the proper pressure. Too little of pressure (a contracted spring), and the flint will barely spark. Too much pressure (an expanded spring), and the wheel won't have enough force to scrape off the flint. What I have done in these cases is either to try to adjust the spring by hand (in your cases, trying to "smush" the spring together - which is admittedly more difficult than the opposite). So if that doesn't work, and you're not afraid to do so, you can clip a couple rings off the spring on one end and reattach it. But of course you'll be altering the original product in that case. ;) Hope this helps!
@@IMDWT thanks for your advice. The old flint had been in the lighter for about 40years and it was solid in the flint tube and it had also welded itself to the flint wheel. I managed to free the flint wheel and then drilled out the old flint but unfortunately I think I drilled it out slightly larger than it should be and the flint passed through the hole quite easily when I assume it should be a nice snug fit in the tube where it makes contact with the wheel. I don’t think the problem can be rectified and its no longer usable so it’s sadly only for display
Could you direct me to how to repair the valve where the flame comes out that does not have a pin, my lighter doesn't have a pin yet it is a Ronson Varaflame and I would love to be able to use it.
thank you for this video. this was the only thing I found that had a detailed view of how these lighters are reassembled including a washer!
You're welcome
