A lot of you don't realize that Michaela and Annalise are reflections of each other and that she is very much the Annalise we met at the beginning of the show
They are similar in a lot of ways but Michaela is wayyy too selfish.

michaela is annalise in the worst way(s) possible cus Annalise still has a moral compass when she admits to her wrong doings she recognizes them honestly and doesn’t look for justification or to appear to have good reasons/intentions, she knows the consequences of her actions. Like in the beginning of the season with the episode about dating apps she tells the creator she did horrible things and she’ll see her in hell.
she has real authentic self awareness about her actions specifically the bad ones.
Despite everything Annalise has done for her, Michaela has been nothing but selfish. She got the ending she deserved when she realized she had no one by her side.
What do you mean? Her daughters (or granddaughters) were right next to her when she was sworn in as a judge.

There were two kids, but no husband. No friends. The point is, she pushes away people she loves. Plus her kids were still young and haven't seen the side of their mom that is this selfish. Being a mom doesn't make the journey less lonely, it kinda makes it lonlier when you have to do it alone imo.

Denzel Ramokaleng Connor owned up to his wrongdoings and wanted to seek redemption for it. That’s why he decided to get time in prison. Michaela would’ve rather seen Annalise go down for crimes she didn’t commit in order to save herself.

I hated that they gave Michaela basically a happy ending . The most satisfying scene from the finale was Oliver and laurel rejecting her .
I mean not really, she ended up alone and an alcoholic. She got what she always wanted but was all alone and had no one to share it with.
Why? A lot of people who do terrible things end up successful. It may not be fair but it's realistic.

Yeah Michaela is a survivor but she turned out to be the mother she always hated. Remember her mother only adopted her for money and now Michaela adopted those girls to fulfil her empty life. She could've done better by not throwing everyone under the bus to save her skin.

Honestly I was cool with Micheala until she cheated on Asher with the guy from scandal, I didn’t really understand that. Ever since then I felt like her character when downhill for me. I mean she was always so quick to blame annalise for everything. She never took accountability for anything the others did.

honestly, if I were in her position, I would do/feel the same. She grew up in a racist community after her parents abandoned her. Her adopted parents didn't take care of her well, so she worked her ass off in high school to go to Yale on a full scholarship before going to law school. she practically raised herself, and the way she got there was by being selfish and not caring about others. it was technically the only way she could've gotten to where she was, because if she listened to what others had to say about her, she wouldn't have gotten through the competitiveness of Yale and law school. so, if you think about everything she's went through, she obviously wouldn't want to give it all up.

I hated her ending, not because of why she still became a judge despite her acts. But with the fact that this is not the michaela that we've seen from the past seasons, the girl who defended annalise against the university (season3), the one who gets very dissapointed when annalise kinda broke up with them-the keating 5(season 4), micromanaged the caplan and gold incident( season 4), the one who suggested on olivia pope and annalise meet up(season 5). Its just that they made a 180 turn on her personality.

These past few episodes I've despised Michaela and last nights episode didn't change anything for me. OMG I'm just speechless after that finale, I am lost for words. I will never forget this show
Michaela wasn't raised to care about ethics ... she was raised to survive and that's what she chose. I'm actually not to mad about it especially since she attempted to do the right thing. But I'll enjoy reading these angry comments. LOL

@@fabfemme800 she went to her lawyer as soon as she heard that annalise could be getting the death penalty, and she was trying to change the terms of her deal so that her testimony didn't result in annalise getting the death penalty. michaela was a selfish person, but she grew up prioritizing herself over everyone around her because no one truly cared for her. she worked her ass off for yale and then law school. it's obvious that she wouldn't want to give it up after everything she's been through.

And we all know she’s selfish, I just think it’s funny that she trashed Laurel, who literally ran away to protect her child, and Wes who very much had a similar childhood. Thank you Shonda for six seasons of absolute greatness. It wasn’t always easy, you and the writers pissed me off several times, but you always kept me guessing, always kept me wanting more! We love you, thank you to the cast who brought life to every character.

Why do people assume she ended up alone for the rest of her? In the end, we seen her sworn in as a judge (possibly) with, I assume, her daughters.
I don't get why she has the most hate compared to the others, as everyone did messed up and selfish things, even murder (Frank, Bonnie, Asher, Nate). If we are going to play the moral compass, then everyone should have been in jail for a very long time.
Can I just say Oliver is a hypocrite. He was perfectly fine with trying to convince Connor to sell out Michaela but not okay with Michaela taking a deal for herself. lol In all honesty, I am confused how that deal affected Connor. She did not cause him any more time. He made that deal himself. When she had a chance to mess over Connor, she didn't. So, I'm confused with that one.
oliver should’ve gone to jail idc. since he wanna be with his husband so bad & blame michaela for choosing herself and not saving connor, oliver can rightfully share a cell with his boo thang for all of the other illegal mess he’s done.
Oliver was annoying this season. And is a huge hypocrite. He's not the innocent, hacker that he imagines himself to be. Him not killing Asher was pure luck.

michaela is so misunderstood. i really hate how people are bashing her for choosing herself. she did what she believed was best for her and connor did the same. 2 different outcomes, but they both were satisfied with their choices. connor was satisfied going to jail and michaela was satisfied that she took that new deal that got her no jail time. Yes, Michaela is selfish, but she’s always been that way DUE TO HER CHILDHOOD where she had to fend for herself 90% of the time. Where no one would look out for her, so she looked out for herself which she will continue to do. she was never gonna change & i’m glad she didn’t because then she wouldn’t have the mindset of becoming a successful black woman. Otherwise, I feel like if she constantly was looking out for others, people would take advantage of her.

@@niakhera558 Agree, but her choices were go to jail or lie. A lot of us are being all high and mighty, but most of us would choose to lie too if in that situation. Truth is that Annalise has done a lot of manipulating herself to keep the Keating 5 from turning on her. Michaela chose to survive over rotting in jail and having her future destroyed. Is she a bad person? Yes, but so are all the characters on the show. Michaela chose her path, Connor chose his.
To be fair, most of the students acted selfish at some point. Michaela just happened to play that card at the end. Laurel disappearing suddenly, Asher’s betrayal, Oliver convincing Connor to sell out Annalise too. Michaela is a broken soul cause of her awful childhood and Annalise was not a great addition to her life, that’s it. She surely suffered and moved on and hopefully is now happy. i don’t think she ever truly loved or cared for Annalise. She only liked the idea of being like Annalise and seeked constant validation from her (from Teegan too btw). But does this make her a bad person? Not sure. She obviously doesnt know how to love and needed help and Annalise was not the answer.
I don’t understand why people have this huge hatred for Michaela out of all the people in this show with actual murderers. I’m not saying she’s the most perfect person but it’s always been other people making messes and her defending them/cleaning them up. She’s been loyal to Annalise and the K5 and in the end they all chose themselves so she did too. Laurel abandoned her, Asher chose his whack mom/sister over her, and Annalise ran away to Mexico and then snitched on her & Connor when they tried working with her after she came back. People say she’s the “most selfish” but she went the longest being loyal to the group and it got her nowhere so she chose herself.
I couldn't agree more. Everyone of them chose what was best for them. Although I love the character of Connor, he made a decision that was more for Oliver then anyone. Laurel chose her son and abandoned them to deal with all that mess alone. They all made decisions that benefited their own lives. I don't see Michaela ending up alone and would like to believe that Connor still maintains that friendship. He is the only one who has ever understood Michaela, even with their rocky start. I don't see him walking away. I am hoping they do a spin off of Michaela and Connor at their own law firm. Maybe show her working hard to get him out of prison. I don't think they would abandon each other. Don't care how this story ended. lol

She is the most selfish. People hated all of the kids because they were all selfish but she’s literally the ONLY person on the show who refused to take accountability for her actions. Everyone else owned up to the parts they played but she still wanted to be a victim and she wanted to give a sob story about her past to try and make people side with her. She’s manipulative. And she was willing to throw everyone under the bus with no compassion. She willingly lied on the stand about annalise and was okay with her going to jail knowing annalise never killed anyone and she lied to Conor knowing she had a better deal then him. She’s beyond selfish and that’s exactly why she ended up alone

Michaela is the most misunderstood of the group, JMO. Everyone on the show has done horrible things but she is held more accountable for her actions then any of the other five. I have not liked Laurel since she convinced Michaela to risk her career at Tegan's law firm. In the end, who did they blame. Michaela, even though it was all Laurel's idea. Laurel gets a pass? She can be selfish too. All of them can be selfish. How do we know Michaela and Connor are not still close. Just because she did not go to Annalise funeral. Maybe that was more about Annalise then her not having any friends in the end. As you can see with Christopher asking who they were, Laurel did not keep in touch either.

people keep saying that michaela was selfish and horrible, but she grew up without anyone but herself. she had no one to rely on but herself, so it's obvious that she would always choose herself and prioritize herself over others. she pulled herself through yale and law school with no one by her side that she truly trusted. i don't think she'll ever trust anyone but herself because of the environment she grew up in. if she went to prison, everything she worked for probably would've gone to waste, and a lot of people would've done the same as her if they were in her position.

I always tought it was shitty from Annalise to keep Michaela and her father apart because of money, but I think it was for the best! Look at the impact he had on her just in a few months. He made her worst traits worse (ambition, selfishness, coldness...)

Don't forget the fact that her father randomly comes into her life and Annalise hid from her the fact that she knew her father. Michaela will NEVER forgive Annalise for keeping that from her. HTGAWM writers don't include every piece of the story on the screen, this is a highly intellectual show that requires some reading between the lines.
She always blamed annalise for everything anyway and repeatedly told her how much she hates her. Annalise even let them all free and they still find up ways to mess things up

Laurel’s character is a definition of complexity that mirrors a genuine human being. She had missteps and done things that were either terrible or great but in the end, she wants to be defined as a mother who will do the right thing for her child. She redeemed herself and continued a long lasting relationship with Annalise alongside her son.
The thing is, all of them are selfish. Michaela is just out here admitting it. She’s done pretending, and is putting herself first. She said it in season one, “I love me”, and she’s doing what she needs to do.
Speak on it! They all turned against Annalise at one point or another in a dramatic way. Hell Laurel ran away after Annalise saved her and Christopher in the elevator that night!

She stayed true to character but had no development really. Her arc should have resulted in her making her choice between being selfish or doing the right thing, ultimately choosing to do the right thing. It should have been her choosing to go to jail to protect Connor or something.

I don’t blame Michaela for being selfish. Sometimes you need that in order to make it in this world.

Regarding Michaela: Yes, she deported Simon, that was portrayed as a bad thing overall but benefited everyone involved, specially the rest of K5. But some people forget that Simon was an awful human being and most likely sociopath. He started a defamatory campaign against AK, tormented the K5, tried to steal Oliver from Connor, among others. He been deported was well deserved.
I truly believe Michaela deserved a happy ending. In S1 she did not want to participate in the disposal of Sam’s body, after some days she and Connor wanted to confess to what they had done but AK prevented them. In S2 she wanted to call the police once she found out that Asher had killed Sinclair. In S3 she did nothing wrong, in fact she was the one who saved AK’s law professor career by stealing Simon’s laptop. In S4 she tried to help Laurel avenge Wes’s death and was pulled in the overall mess, but still was the one who saved AK’s closing argument at the Supreme Court. In S5 she was not involved in any of the murders. In S6 she found herself been framed for a murder she did not commit (Asher’s) and did not have any protection by AK (as she fled to Mexico), tried to protect herself with an immunity deal (same as Connor and later Laurel) and was the very first witness called to testify to AK’ alleged wrongdoings (at that time she genuinely believed the K3 would do the same). We all know AK was no murderer, but also wasn’t she. She disclosed some tortures suffered in her past and from it we know she already went through hell and was not willing to suffer again. In a way is like she paid for her wrongdoings during her childhood. That’s why IMO she really deserved a happy ending.

Are you serious?? If you seriously believe what you wrote, I’d say you should do some self reflecting! How can you say that Michaela having Simon deported was justified in any way? He was a gay man who had never been to Pakistan and does not speak the language. Focus on the first part: he was a GAY MAN. Meaning he will be put to death when he returns. Homosexuality is illegal in that country and considering your profile picture (two men hugging) one would hope you would sympathize with his situation. This girl has been nothing but evil the entire series.
Let’s see, she helped dismember and burn a dead body, lied to the police every occasion, she helped frame the Hapstall children in that molurder of Sinclair and shooting of Annalise, she framed Simon for leaking Antaris documents by stealing Tegan’s key card all the while ruining Tegan’s career. She also turned on Annalise who continuously tried to help her. Cheated on Asher multiple times, turned on Connor and left him to fend for himself during the trial and was even willing to lie on the stand to help the FBI convict Annalise for murders they committed. All while knowing they wanted the death penalty for Annalise. How in anyway can you say you like, agree or sympathize with her???
Corey that’s only if they find out he’s gay, what michaela did was terrible but that was because they took advantage of her internship... trying to get laurel dad. Michaeal isn’t an angle but no one else on this show was any better.

George Liapes unfortunately, Simon made his own bed by tormenting and threatening Michaela. He could not have expected any good coming from her. One of them would ultimately destroy the other. Michaela was faster. :/

But they are not still friends. If you listened to Christopher, he did not know who Connor and Oliver were, which indicates they were not in Laurel's life. Laurel did the same thing Michaela did. She kept moving and never looked back. Michaela not being at the funeral is supposed to indicate she ended up alone and the fact the three of them were there. No, it could just mean Michaela never forgave Annalise and did not feel the need to be there. JMO.

I love this scene so much. As much as michaela is an asshole she's been through so much and worked her ass off to get to where she is, like she said "I've suffered enough" you never really see black female leads being unapologetically selfish like this and it's so intriguing
I'm late with this comment but as a black woman I loved michaelas character. I don't like how she sold out annalise, but I love seeing a black woman looking out for herself and being selfish. Non black ppl are selfish all the time, but when a black woman does something for herself ppl get offended.
@@saramatthews7159 I agree! It's very refreshing to see black female characters written this way, its so rare. While I don't agree with a lot of the choices she's made, it feels very realistic when you factor in her trauma and difficulty trusting others.

This may sound harsh, but I have zero-sympathy for a character like Michaela. This scene did not do a thing to tug at my heartstrings for her, it just had me sarcastically thinking, "Oh, poor you. Foster mommy and daddy were mean to you, so now you can do whatever you want to get ahead." Wake up, everyone has hardships in life. Some people get dealt a worse hand than others, but that doesn't excuse them from doing things that are just WRONG.

Tell that to Connor who was a rich privileged kid but has always done things wrong in his life and blamed others and everyone else around him. Not only that, said Wes deserved to die and even cheated on Oliver multiple times. They ending together was way worse and unrealistic ending compared to Michaela's, and all of that because of fan servicing. His character has done nothing the whole show, got even more help and privilege then the others Keating 4 after Wes's death which he didn't deserve and he ends up with Oliver, the guy he used, cheated and manipulated throughout the whole show. She deserved to help herself and follow her own steps, because no one was ever there for her to begin with. Not even Connor who started to ruin her life by helping to end her relationship with Aiden. Nor AK who would constantly bully and undervalue her even when she was right (after she helped AK Win the Supreme Court case by doing literally everything when Connor was just sitting his butthole on the bench).

What does all of those things she is talking about have to do with the fact that she did bad things and she is actually involved in things that she knows about but never told? Just because she had a bad childhood doesn't mean she hasn't to take responsibility for every bad thing she will do in her life. Because she is a grown up woman and she has to take responsibilities. As much I want to hate Michaela, I had to remember she had tough life too, just like AK...
Ya but AK doesn’t blame her past for her behaviour in the present! Every shitty thing that Michaela does she blames it to her childhood and how her parents or adoptive family treated her and how she never understood love! So no I don’t excuse Michaelas behaviour and personality, Bonnie had the hardest childhood of them all but she doesn’t play the victim card, Wes was a child and witnessed him mom basically dead when she killed herself and was put into foster care and also had no real family but he always remained positive and looked after the people he cared about. Michaela is a bitch end of discussion and I hated her character from episode 1 she does have some good moments but the only thing I approved was how Michaela and Conner had each other’s backs and their best friendship was a redeeming quality for them both!

What a selfish Bunch of children. Absolutely no loyalty what's so ever . I feel sad for annalise she lost two of her loyel friends frank and bonnie. But I know she was loved by Tegan , Eve and even nate tho he was not so close to her at the end . I believe he didn't cut her off completely . I'm still heartbroken and I don't know how long it will take to recover from this . Even GOT was not this hard to let go.

Personally, I think that shot of someone drinking alcohol (after the scene of an old Michaela being sworn in as a judge with her daughters/granddaughters by her side) was supposed to be her, not Annalise. I do not see how, in the middle of a montage showing all of the K5 (now K3) aging, we get a random clip of Annalise drinking again, especially if the point of the finale was to show Annalise getting the happy ending she deserved. I think it's supposed to tie in with Michaela's final fate. Like people have said, yes she had those two little girls with her, but where is the husband? Connor, Oliver and Laurel all cut her off. I think it was supposed to show that despite being successful in her career, she ended up being one of those people that only have that going for them, their career. No real connections with others, no love, nothing. And this would lead her down the path of alcoholism, just like it affected Annalise. Maybe even some depression was hinted? idk
Michaela est clairement une sociopathe! L'exact opposée de Connor. Les choix de Michaela sont clairement discutables mais elle a voulu se choisir avant tout pour vivre la vie qu'elle désirait. Connor a fait le choix de sa sacrifier pour vivre en paix et pouvoir enfin avancer (magnifique fin pour Connor!!). Content pour Michaela aussi.

I don't think she's using her childhood trauma as an excuse. I think she's using it as an explanation for why she is the way she is. She can only depend on herself to think of her. The fact that laurel and Oliver turned their backs on her proves that she can only depend on herself to survive and get what she wants. They've all done horrible things to each other and yet this is apparently the thing that's too far that they cut her off?

She didn't push Sam, that was an accident. He ran over her and she tried to get out of the way by protecting herself.

@@louisa2178 Because he would counstantly make Oliver Simp hack things for him, this being a crime itself. Michaela would get her information by studying the case and getting it done the right way. He lied about his gay conversion bs and stuff, he said Wes deserved to die, he would also bully others just like AK, he beated the crap out of a guy not to mention that he would constantly cheat on everyone, like Oliver Simp most of the time, or pretty much every single time the group had decided something to do colectively (Like at Caplan & Gold night event) but he would always be the only one to be against what the group have planned together. Not to mention that he blamed AK for everything for 6 entire seasons. Michaela blamed her too, but she was always get lefted behind by her, and at the same time, she would try to get AK's acception even though she was always on Connor's Side for these situations (Like naming him her helper at the Nate Senior's case in which he did absolutely nothing - and Michaela would do all the job -, or the fact that AK got him back to colege even thou he failed in it, when both Michaela and Laurel - who had a baby in that same semester - managed to pass on it)
And she is damn right. She chose herself and herself only instead of trying to imitate or follow out someone else's steps.

@J. C. He has cheated and used Oliver multiple times. He would only be with Oliver so he could hack into things and he would win the cases for AK, but that wasn't his merit.
@@victorrocha5755 that was only true the first time, when it was just a random hookup. Connor's entire plot line was about him learning how to love and stay committed to someone. In fact he actively tried to keep Oliver AWAY from the drama lol.

Mentioned it before their marriege, saying that if he didn't see AK, he would go have sex with another guy. He can't even control himself to not fuck other guys. And he has pretty much used and only used Oliver for his hacking the whole series. He did nothing in any case or helped anyone on his own because who did all the job was Oliver. But maybe that is great. Oliver was too dumb to realise he was being cheated and that he didn't dserve such a horrible, egocentric, manipulative guy like Connor. What a simp. But Michalea thou??? Michaela proved herself to be the best Keating by simply being smart. She saved the group multiple times, not to mention to solve the cases by doing research and acting on time to help AK out. Guess what, he didn't deserve that. If even Laurel who had a baby and managed to go through hell and Michaela who had to deal with all the trauma (that Connor didn't present) at the Caplan & Gold incident and they both managed to complete their college semester, oh well Connor didn't. Because he wasn't smart. He wasn't good. Better being alone on her own like Michaela did then being close to such a crying out loud character like Connor.
Victor Rocha I don’t even think we watched the same show with how skewed that was from the source material. Connor cheated on Oliver once, in one of the beginning episodes, resulting in them breaking up. After getting back together there was never any mention of cheating. Like I said Connor’s entire arc was learning that drifting through life with no feelings isn’t a way to live. If you look at any of their interactions regarding Annalise, it is always Connor trying to get Oliver to stay away. (Of course that is AFTER the murder, previous to that there was no reason for Oliver to not help him) Also, saying Michaela did all the work for the supreme court case is just blatantly wrong, from the start it was Connor working with Annalise, Michaela simply tried to shoehorn herself in at the end for credit. AK helped Connor out with getting back into college because he frankly deserved it. He was the only one of the K5 with an actual conscience, causing his guilt to overcome him, which led to flunking out. AK knew he was just as smart and dedicated as the others, but was morally incapacitated, thus the boost AK gave to him. I’m done with this because of just how different connor was from your depiction.

I don’t think Micheala had any idea of who she truly was. In the beginning she wants to be like AK, then like Teagan, she also mentions she wanted to find her Barack (her Michelle). I think she was chasing this idea of who she was or going to be for so long, that the any chance of that not happening, she couldn’t fathom it. So anything that might jeopardise that, she was quick to act.
