  • About twenty years ago, Ron, Robert, and Earl Rayner of A Tumbling T Ranches in Goodyear, AZ began developing and refining no-till double-cropped cotton and wheat planning as part of an overall crop rotation that they follow. This video chronicles their progress and highlights the success they've had in managing risks, sustaining productivity, economizing on water use, improving soil function, reducing soil temperature, and developing a successful reduced disturbance production system in this arid region. The ingenuity and perseverance that they have brought to the development of this system have now resulted in a unique and very innovative application of the underlying fundamental principles of conservation agriculture and soil health in the Southwest US.

I’ve noticed the same weather trend in the North east. We are consistently 2 weeks behind in spring and 2 weeks behind in fall. It’s almost like the seasons fluctuate out of sync with the calendar.

In Texas we use corn and next year cotton. We strip till the corn and this is our Shepherd for the cotton. When the cotton is a foot tall we stalk chop the corn stalks. In two years, We can make 15,000 lbs corn and 1,000 lbs cotton with 3.5 gal/acre sprinkler system. That is 660 gpm for a 230 acre field of corn and cotton that is strip tilled and fertilized in the winter before planting mid May.

Thanks for your sincere presentation. I am only cotton grower in Imperial Valley. It has my opinion that your system would work. Organic matter carbon conservation better water control with lasered border check irrigation. It all makes sense.
