একজন human genetics এর student হিসেবে বলছি, এই episode টা genetics এর student দের বিশেষ ভাবে শোনা উচিৎ। এত সূক্ষ্ম এবং জটিল একটা বিষয় একেবারে lame man's language এ প্রেমাশীষ আপনি উপস্থাপনা করলেন, অনেক subject expert রাও এভাবে explain করতে পারবেন কিনা

Though the explanation on offer is halting and opaque. Maybe it is me, it did nothing to augment my comprehension of the subject. Long on effort, short on purpose. In every other sentence the Bengali word " Byapar" eludes me. To me, it is nothing more than a vocabulary blank space.

Unfortunately, I don't have a chance to give a million likes to this podcast. It's way better than many classroom sessions. Kudos to Premashish da for representing it so beautifully with the simplest examples. Being a Scientist in Drug discovery profession, I thoroughly enjoyed this episode. As someone whose bread and butter is to understand the molecular mechanism behind different diseases, this book gives you a historical perspective on what you are working on. Also, the way you guys discussed about such a complex topic, in such easy and comprehensible manner, it's easier to recommend to relatives who ask, কি চাকরি করা হয়? Only suggestion if you had briefly talked about the part regarding dr.mukherjee's family and the reason why it's called an intimate history, it would have been more interesting for a lot of people. Finally The Double Helix: A Personal Account of the Discovery of the Structure of DNA by James Watson should be something one should read if they want to discover the fun behind discovering the double helix.

আমি নিজে ইউনিভার্সিটি অফ ক্যালগেরি তে Biotechnology নিয়ে post-Doc করি breast Cancer field এ. এতো কঠিন একটা টপিক কে সাধারণের বোঝার মতো করে বলতে গিয়েও প্রেমাশীষ বাবু একবার ও সত্য ( facts ) থেকে বিচ্যুত হলেন না দেখে ভালো লাগলো। একটা ছোট্ট কথা যোগ করতে চাই, paternity testing এ ডিএনএ কিভাবে ব্যবহার হয়, সেটা যোগ করা যেতে পারতো. প্রসঙ্গত, DNA তে intron থাকার একটা কারণ মনে করা হয় যে they reduce the chances (and frequency) of mutation in the reading frame.
Human chromosome e এতো কম gene থাকার কারণটা মনে হয় প্রেমাশীষ বাবু জানেন, জানানোর সুযোগ পেলেন না.

প্রথমে বলি অসাধারণ আপনাদের এই আলোচনা। একটা প্রশ্ন এই DNAএর যে কোডিং system, এত interesting and complicated and perfectly synchronize. এটাকি মানুষ ছাড়া অন্য প্রাণীদের ভিতরেও এরকমই কাজ করে। আর এই genetic engineering এর সূত্র ধরেই কি এখন এই corona, AI and neuronlink এই সবের কোনো সম্পর্ক আছে। যদি এই neuronlink নিয়ে একটা আলোচনা করেন ভালো হয়।
হ্যাঁ। শুধু অন্য প্রাণী নয়। উদ্ভিদের ক্ষেত্রেও সব বৈশিষ্ট্য দোষ গুণের জন্য এই একই জিন, ডি.এন.এ, ক্রোমোজোম, আর.এন.এ, প্রোটিন ... দায়ী।
AI বা আর্টিফিশিয়াল ইন্টেলিজেন্স এর সাথে জিন এর কোন সম্পর্ক নেই। এটা ডিপ লার্নিং ইত্যাদি টেকনোলজির ওপর ডিপেন্ড করে।

@@reubenridwan256না, লামার্ক এর মতবাদ ছিল অঙ্গের অব্যবহার সূত্র, যেটাতে তিনি বলেছিলেন যে কোনো অঙ্গ ব্যবহার না করতে থাকলে বা কম ব্যবহারের ফলে সেটি লুপ্ত হয়ে যায়.. যদিও এই সূত্র ভুল প্রমাণিত হয় পরে.. কিন্তু আমি আগে যেটা উল্লেখ করেছি সেটা ডারউইন এর মতবাদে ছিল।
ওটা বাতিল হয়ে গেছে।

Great podcast. Being a student of science it was even more interesting for me to understand the crux of this podcast. With the help of genetic engineering certainly we can create more species that have already become extinct and save many endangered species. We can bring the dinosaurs back with a protective enclosure. Hence I want to know if there are any kinds of genetic experiments related to that are taking place or not on this planet? I shall be expecting a reply. Thank you for the podcast. ❤
