The Volvo C30. By far in my opinion one of the funkiest, coolest and most interesting little nuggets on the road. It was a Focus ST before the ST was in the US
I'll have you know my 04' RX8 has 100,000km on it and zero issues, and is the single greatest purchase I have made when it comes to dollars per smile. It's not it's fault people don't know how to drive and take care of them!
@@zibixs3480 awesome to hear man, gotta keep the love for doritos alive! It's interesting how people think rotaries are unreliable, yet the 787B won LeMans because of its reliability. I think people just didn't understand that it's a highly tuned engine from the factory and has to be run hard and basic maintenance needs to be done for it to work properly.
Exactly right owners have to know about these engines in order to keep them running top notch, mine lasted 134k miles before rebuild just cause I wanted to do it compression was still in the 7s , just a piece of relief knowing it’s in the 9.5 -10 now
I worked in the Mazda service dept. when this model came out. Not only did they flood if you didn't rev the engine, and blow excess fuel out when shutting down. I cannot count how many engines we had to replace before the powertrain warranty ran out. They even extended the warranty on the engine, and most didn't make it past 60k miles. Everytime one flooded, it had to be towed in. Spark plugs removed, fuel blown out, and plugs replaced. Which happened quite frequently. The people who bought them were highly pissed, and rightfully so. Also had high oil consumption. Good concept with the 50/50 weight distribution, but I wouldn't suggest buying one, unless you get one cheap, and are willing to deal with the temperament, and potential cost of them. Just my experience.
Ha I'm literally buying one right now before people realise how good they are and that there will never be another car built like it again (unfortunetly)
I personally don't like the Chrysler Crossfire at all. The Mazda RX-8 is a nice good looking car but unfortunately the rotary engines can be a pain to work if you're a novice like me. However I've seen people engine swap their RX-8 just like how some people engine swap their RX-7. I just wish that Mazda that made rotary engines would just not be so much of a pain to work on, by the way no disrespect to the rotary engines. I personally like the high revving rotary engines.
I have a complete different experience with my RX-8 (which I am happy with it), may be I am in Japan. I think mainly the problem is the misinformation from the American dealers about the technical problems of the RX-8, which caused the chaos. As what I understand, RX-8 is aimed for those people which liked RX-7 when they are kids, and when RX-8 is launched they had a family who need a 4-seater sporty car.
RX8's are only unreliable because people didn't look after them. Asking the average consumer to premix fuel on every fill up, change the oil every 3k miles, etc etc was never going to follow through, so of course engines prematurely failed. Most cars these days don't even have dipsticks because people can't be bothered and a computer tells the level for you. It's an enthusiasts car. A car that requires more from you. And the consumers failed it.
Not only consumers but Mazda dealerships too. Also speaking of 3k mile oil changes, even Mitsubishi 4G series of engines from 2000s onwards needed this. Because Mitsu didn't use synthetic oil in them which they use now for current engines.
I've recently gotten into mazda rx-8's , they are great fun for the money and well worth saving. People sell them for around 1500 to 2000 euro with 70k KM and below. The most common flaw is either a broken apex/sideseal or starter motor. Both quite easy fixes ( and cheap if you do it yourself ) but getting it done at a shop will result in the car getting scrapped and parted out based on the costs.
i've never actually heard of an rx8 with broken apex seals. They are either filled up with carbon, housings shot, some have failed coolant seals from overheating, or just simply flooded cuz people shut them off cold. The apex seal problem was mostly solved by the time the rx7 came, just have to keep them lubricated.
I literally drive my rx8 throughout the year, everyday, snow, rain, runs great, hasn’t let me down. Plan on following a friends turbo set up for a reliable 450whp in the rex8
Well the NSX thing is the consumer's fault. They all forgot that back when the first NSX hit the market, it was by no means affordable in any kind of way. To think a new model would be even close to the price of a used first gen was hilarious in my eyes.
Where is the 4 door Ford Focus that thinks it's a Mustang at. Like I have a 2000s Mustang I love the look of Mustangs (and I really love my Mustang) but it should stay a 2 door car.
I’m just gonna say, the Rx8 series 2 and the 40th anniversary it’s gonna raise in price/demand. Mark my words. and some people are doing the “hybrid” renesis,by adding modified the 1985 13b rx7 housing. And custom exhaust manifold.
10 years from now when RX-8's are stupid rare, people will regret not buying one for pennies on the dollar. The 100% OEM models will go up in price significantly. Kid on crack might look like a fool but he's got bank flow.

Calling the NSX a failure is such a copout. Aside from the initial delay, which really wasn't the fault of Honda, the car did everything the original car did. It just took a while to get released. The car is great. It uses great tech that's Honda reliable. And it's not like the original car was really cheap at its launch either. People wanted all this stuff for $50k. Tech, bespoke chassis, dedicated tooling and manufacturing, all this stuff costs money that Honda must likely knew they'd never break even in but they still weren't going to be essentially giving these away.
Honestly, it just doesn't have the feel. It doesn't have the "It" in my opinion that made the others classics. But hey, maybe if people keep hating on them they'll drop in price to that $50k and then maybe I can be the next hypocrite driving down the road in an NSX xD

Personally I love the 7th gen celica, the 2zz 1.8 I4 that’s shared by the lotus Elise & Exige, and the scion TC that followed was still a fun, good handling, reliable car that came in a manual and has decent tune-ability - I just don’t remember there being any hype around it’s release or really anybody that was interested in it being disappointed after it came out

why isn't the Lexus LFA in here? Took forever in the development cycle like the new NSX. Got luke warm to bad reviews when it was released because it didn't compete against super cars on the same 300K price range.. *and* Lexus didn't allow you to actually buy one, you could only lease them. Even at $300K lease Lexus lost like a ton of money on each one they rented..
The LFA was more an engineering exercise then anything. People complained Toyota only did boring, so Akio let his engineers do what they wanted with no restrictions. Breaking even was never the point.
The problem with the NSX is that here in North America, it’s sold as an Acura, but the interior doesn’t match what you would typically find in an Acura. I always said that the NSX should have always been a Honda in North America since the beginning with the 1st generation (pop ups) and 2nd generation (non pop ups). They would have sold way more of them and it would justify the lower price point for the car itself compared to its competitors. The 3rd gen NSX would have done a lot better as a Honda, because let’s face it, even if I had the money, I’m not spending $150k to $200k on a Honda NSX. Especially when the interior looks like something out of a Civic. (The Corvette used to have the same problem for years, exotic looking exterior, rental car interior but they finally fixed that with the C8, thank god) Also even back then, the NSX wasn’t that popular, you saw a couple every once in a while but it wasn’t an everyday occurrence, especially true with the new one. You just don’t see them. The hype is somewhat there, if you go overseas to Japan, but the unnecessarily high prices of the car in Australia and North America killed off any hope for a sales rebound.
I just placed my order. White JNC 026 R 18x10 F 18X9 Federal 595's I will post pics on the gal when I get it together. It is sad the RX8 was a fail. It had a ton of potential.
oh man the RX8. Bought mine for 12k with 40,000 miles. Owned for 3 years but it was in the shop so much I think I truly only drove it one week every month lol... Spent like 20k just trying to keep it running (replacing a motor etc...) Sold it at 77k miles and I still have nightmares lol. Was a fun car when I could drive it though.
You know how people now adays remake old movies, music, etc.? Well what if Japanese cars brought back the legends like nsx, supra, rx7, gtr BUT....made them exactly the same as they did in the 90's?!?!? go back old school but improve on them with the technology we have now...make them perfect. i think they would make a killing
The Focus RS should’ve done better. I blame dealer markups. The dealership here on maui marked them up to $55k! So I got a brand new STI instead for almost $20k less.
Could possibly add the new Supra into this vs the proposed FT-1 model. Although the Supra did take a bit of getting used to and is now accepted into the mainstream, a lot of people were disappointed and underwelmed about thr decided styling.
5:04 "affordable" is relative, if i remember correctly the brand new ones in the 90s were around 70k+ if you adjust that to inflation in todays money that's well above 100k$, so its not exactly "affordable". Even the ones in the early 2000s were already around 85k brand new the type r NSX was already above 100k, and those numbers are still not adjusted for inflation in today's money. The only reason ones became "affordable " is because of depreciation. So yeah even the 1st gen brand new was practically unattainable for your average jdm fan boy. And no the new NSX isnt a mistake just wait 15-20 years and people will start treating it the same as the 1st gen.
Personally, the Mazda wasn't ever my favorite. I do so love hondas Acura NSX. The old NSX has nostalgia, pop-up headlights, and a driving experience that is unmatched. The new NSX has the looks of a modern supercar both inside and out with good performance and a good feel. I feel that despite the issues, the NSX was a great car. I don't know about yall, but I like the Chrysler Crossfire. I like the way it looks. It could definitely use some help neer the backside though and the front lights could be modernized. I would also probably switch out all the bad internal parts with better parts that actually work. It would definitely be a long process, but I think it has the potential to be a cool car. Despite all its flaws, I do like the Delorian DMC. I do feel that it could use a basic modern makeover with modern specs and safety features. But still, the original Delorian DMC was a sweet ride in my personal opinion.
People used to complain about lack of torque on the S2000 and GT86/BRZ as well. The "lack of torque" was done on purpose so it makes you rev the heck out of them to have fun. That's where the fun is...which unfortunately some people don't bother to understand.
I have a soft spot for that new NSX, even though there are many factors wrong with it (the 6 figure price for example). I would still buy one, if I have the money for it.
I actually want the new NSX just because it's misunderstood. However, I have to point out that the old NSX was also absurdly expensive. New car to new car, the old NSX cost a LOT more than the equally or more powerful 3000GT VR-4. I seem to recall the old NSX costing $60,000 in 1990! And the inflation in today's money is $120,083.55. 😲 and the starting price for the new NSX is $150,000. Are you sure it was the price? Because the price comparisons between the NSX then and supercars and the NSX now and supercars is basically the same.
I agree. I used to hate the new NSX and was on the whole "it should be less than 100k" bandwagon. But after really thinking about it, that would never make sense lol. But at that price range, they kind of are stuck in between a rock and a hard place. Fingers crossed the Type R is badass.
Honda CR-Z! ppl hate, and its not fast. But it sure is fun in the uhhhhh like, 40mph range. Like a round freeway on-ramp. but not after it straightens out.
Ouch! That intro hurts bad! But! Now I'm good, okay? I'm in a good place with a wonderful person. Keep that pain to yourself! Loving those Artisa wheels, by the way.
The Chrysler Crossfire is so damn underrated, they're slightly worse than a 350Z (with the DE engine) for half the price in much better condition and better reliability. I love mine.

(The Corvette used to have the same problem for years, exotic looking exterior, rental car interior but they finally fixed that with the C8, thank god)
Also even back then, the NSX wasn’t that popular, you saw a couple every once in a while but it wasn’t an everyday occurrence, especially true with the new one.
I love wheel designs that do that. Concave in or look like the come out
I like the rx8 a lot...😔
Why do you disrespect our RX-8s AGAIN??? 😭
Because they blow 🤣
Who owns that FRS from the opening scenes?
alex missed on this one, rx8 is so good man, only gets disliked cause it came after arguably the greatest looking car of all time (fd)
Love the channel! Great videos!!
Dang, I was 1 of the 3 that was thinking of slamming a delorean
The Focus RS should’ve done better. I blame dealer markups. The dealership here on maui marked them up to $55k! So I got a brand new STI instead for almost $20k less.
The Lexus LFA is another one like the the NSX. Lots of hype and priced far beyond what the target market could afford.
Rip... thats tuff whoever owns those ticking time bombs cant be me
Could possibly add the new Supra into this vs the proposed FT-1 model.
How about like every single performance Sentra other than the B13? The SE-R badge is like the holy grail of underwhelming performance at this point.
I actually watch these vids just for Alex's fantastic intros ;)
I feel like the Ford ST and RS never really got the love they were expected to get, it’s an AWD hatch w turbo but it never stuck around
thumbs up for the Overstock.com segue joke haha
I wonder if youtube understands that i will 100% stop watching a video if the ad it gives me is too long/unskip-able
Still trying to decide on a project car evos worth it?
Could y’all make a video about Tiburons?
The RX-8 is still strongly loved and is a great car
I am gonna need you guys to start letting us know the title of the sick ass beats in the background from now on. Thank you.
8:29 Thank you for not pulling a Linus on us!
Dont forget the RX-8 oil consumption and utter lack of torque.
Half way through my LS swap RX-8. Loving it. 🙃😂
You know what wasn't a mistake? The Chevy S10. Even with its glass 4l60 transmission. Day 17
I firmly believe that if it wasn't for the back to the future movies the DeLorean wouldn't be nearly as popular and iconic as it is.
I wouldn't trade my Rx8 for anything honestly
“So you want a z31 300zx?”♯124
Every day I hop on the tube and hope they put they vid out BIG 💨 SMOKE 💨
they literally have a video out already ua-cam.com/video/2cyGGIxis4o/v-deo.html
@@fyzikal5 thats a z32, not a z31
@@LOVE-VIBES-X-PROJECT-CARS ohhhhhh my bad misread
For sure the RX8. I had an RX-7 at the time and was so excited for the next rotory powered vehicle, then no turbo??!! What the hell man!?
Ouch! That intro hurts bad!
But! Now I'm good, okay? I'm in a good place with a wonderful person. Keep that pain to yourself!
Loving those Artisa wheels, by the way.
What rims are the ones behind Alex’s head ?!!
The Chrysler Crossfire is so damn underrated, they're slightly worse than a 350Z (with the DE engine) for half the price in much better condition and better reliability. I love mine.
