We are Marisa and David, Australian expats now living part-time in Chianni Tuscany.
During the Global Pandemic, we decided to buy our Italian dream home, sight unseen and with no prior knowledge of the area.

Today is a mish-mash of village life, visits to the dentist, road trips to IKEA and TECNOMAT in Pisa and lots of other autumnal fun and food!
I've started looking for items for our new renovation project downstairs in the Tavernas, so that's very exciting and I'm impressed with the prices of the gorgeous bathroom items I find.

The trolley sticking out doesn’t matter. It’s so useful in a small space.

Ciao! I love the plants on the fireplace mantle, and I think the cart in the corner works well. (I think the cart's usefulness should outweigh the little part of it that sticks out past the furniture next to it.) I love little shopping trips to places like Ikea, too. Those little things to buy make me unreasonably happy!

I really love watching your videos of you shopping and decorating your home! Good to know there's an IKEA in the area 🙂 They have such great buys for so many useful items and for organizing. I remember your video of that dentist office/home for sale. I think I even remember walking past it several times while we were there. If the dentist is selling the property though are they moving away? I need a good dentist more than I do a doctor 😁 and dental work is sooo expensive here even with insurance. Thanks so much for watching Cheri! I’m so glad you enjoyed it! Yes we have everything we need within about 30 minutes if Chianni sono we are very happy! The dentist isn’t moving away from the area, she’s just moving house. We are so grateful to have a great dentist in our shire! There are plenty more around in other villages too! Her husband is an orthodontist and isn’t far away from Chianni either! See you next time 🤗💖🫶🏼🥰
Grazie mille Marisa for another lovely video. I have a question....I had a DNA test a few years ago.....stating that I was 10% Italian. Does that entitle me to Italian residency? I have lived out of Australia for 4 years.......and as you know I am Australian. Love, James xxx
Prego James! Thank you so much for watching! That’s a BIG question but in general, you have to prove with documentation, a direct descendant line to apply for actual Italian citizenship. Residency is totally different and most nationalities can apply for a residency visa once they have purchased a home in Italy.
If you only have Australian citizenship, then there are complexities to purchasing in Italy right now but there are loopholes. A long conversation I’m afraid! Sending hugs 🥰💖🫶🏼🤗
