So if I build a F-troop style fence around my property, that should do the job. Of course complete with a tower that does not fall down. Yeah that would be awesome.

I currently have two great Pyrenees, and a German Shepherd cross.
They have eliminated loss to predators, looking hard at moving to the Ozarks, as this area would see us quickly over run.

I have a Doberman, Dutch Shepherd and a Great Pyrenees. A Belgian Malinois and A Kangal will be soon added to the pack .They all have different jobs based on their personality and traits.

The biggest threat we face is called "adverse possession." We bought a new house in a small rural subdivision on 4 acres with a wooded streambed along one boundary. The 10 year old house next door to us sold to a new couple 8 months after we moved in and they immediately started becoming fixated on this stream and wooded area in our land. The property line was on the far side of the stream and woods from us and we couldn't figure out what their issue is -- the dense growth of vegetation or perhaps they wanted that part of land for their own use. We had a surveyor mark it, but the kept coming onto tit, then had posts installed but they kept entering, and finally installed a board fence along much of it. We couldnt run the fence the whole way due to a county stormwater easement and a buried power line near the line. We found the neighbors had some buried plastic drain pipes running to our stream which we asked them to move. When they didnt we moved them back to their land with their permission. We think they are still entering this part of our property because we cant see through the trees which we want to keep. Trail cams dont work because the neighbors watch every move we make in there and come out with their german shepherd and make implicit threatening comments to us as though we are trespassing when we go in there which I do daily but if I put up trail cams they will just avoid them (plus the trail cams got a lot of false alarms from wildlife and wind). The previous owners of the adjacent home likely installed those two pipes so we are worried at the 15 year anniversary of the building of our neighbors' house, the new couple will make a claim on our land on the far side of the stream. It is heavily vegetated and sloped and a drainage area so not a place I can develop (nor do I want to). Be weary of otherwise law abiding neighbors just meandering on your land as adverse possession and prescriptive easements laws favor the squatters.

Good discussion. I do private security for a living in a big city and thinking I will eventually go off grid at some point. But I want to educate myself on all possibilities with being off grid, especially safety and security.

Please be careful of outside lights that just tells others where you are, especially in a grid down situation. You need to have black out curtains. You can see lights even from inside of a house from a long was off.

To properly understand what happens in the ultimate breakdown just study history ..... Germany,Russia Austria,Poland,France,etc......surprisingly there will be quite a number of people patriotic to current state, even in military ranks ...... study history ..... I hope it doesn't come to that but it is good to study.....yup .... so many things parallelling history now ..... personally, I have NO IDEA what is about to happen but, I expect quite a CHANGE soon ..... but that's just me (just an old man in dungarees sitting in the corner...lol)

Moved to the outskirts of the city in central Missouri after getting shot in the city. Definitely much safer.
Got two female boxers. They bark real well.
