This is my rare Custom Coach conversion F350 7.3 Diesel Dually I bought in 2016 to keep personally. Was looking for an EMP proof bug-out truck but it ended up so nice my plans for it changed. It was in Mississippi until 2013 when it came to southern Ohio. I went down by Athens Ohio to get it. Looks great, runs & drives perfect in every way! Clean rust free straight body & original paint with some clear coat issues, I had the hood painted March 2023 because it had three places on the surface that were about to rust. When I recently had the exhaust hanger replaced the tech had it on his lift and said “Where the __ did you get this truck?” (He thought it was something I’d got to resell on the lot.). He commented on the original paint still on the underside of the bed. It has good cold AC & good a heater. The brakes and suspension are great & it handles better than most of the 2001-2010 Super Duty trucks I sell at my car lot! Interior is original & incredibly clean. No cracks, blemishes or damage to the dash and no missing interior pieces. No stains, no smells, never smoked in. Clean title. 123k actual miles as of 5/20/2023.
This is the IDI (indirect injection) 7.3L diesel with mechanical fuel pump & mechanical fuel injection. It always amazes me because as smooth as it is, it's still basically a big old international Harvester piece of farm equipment. In other words, it is simple and it is unbelievably tough. No computers anywhere I love how simple and inexpensive this is to work on compared to a powerstroke. It has an aftermarket oil pressure gauge installed for some reason but the stock gauge works as well as all the other gauges. The truck also has a heavy duty steel rear window guard (headache rack) with integrated tail lights & signals, and stainless steel running boards. It was used in the past to tow a gooseneck trailer & still has the wiring in place for that too. This truck has never been driven in the snow and salt, and as mentioned, the underneath is clean. You shine a light up there & you can still see the factory paint. The bed rails, frame, lines, even the fuel tank straps are not rusty. Super clean even on the bumpers. Both fuel tanks work but the front tank fuel gauge only shows empty when I switch to it. The interior is a custom coach design with wood trim and upper indirect lighting and individual spot lighting like a conversion van, and has an integrated CB radio in the top panel. The super comfortable plush seats are original and don’t even look old even though they’ve never been worked on. Minimal fading on the driver’s seat only. And I love this- It has Longhorn insignia mud flaps & a hood ornament that looks like a cowboy’s arm holding up his hat while bull riding in a rodeo!

The only potential weakness in these old International 7.3L & the older 6.9L diesels were the possibility of cavitation damage. I was sure to cover this with the owner before I bought it for myself. The coolant was treated years ago but he drained the cooling system & flushed it in 2015 and had fresh anti-cavitation EC-1 used. The only reason I did the clutch because I thought the pedal felt hard & the clutch rattled sometimes. I'm still loving & obsessing about this truck.

This truck is simply gorgeous! We are looking at buying an IDI truck to pull with. Our 93 F-150 isn't quite up to snuff with a lot of the stuff we pull. (I love to baby my truck, as well.)

Yes I still love it- I add new stuff to it from time to time. I'm about to have a new spray in bedliner done this spring & may have the body repainted this summer but that'll be expensive for a good paint job. But it'll look awesome with a nice glossy black paint job!

Yes, it certainly would! It is so rare to see those with good, solid paint, but the ones that do are impeccable. I ought to do a video on my truck, just because. It was damaged its whole life by the first owner. I'm the second owner, and I care for that truck rigorously. Car shows love it because it's a common vehicle on the road, but never in the shape mine's in. 😎

This is probably the coolest bricknose I've ever seen. I have a 89 f150 myself, but yours puts mine to shame. Beautiful truck man.

Bryce Reigle Thanks. I love the old beast. I think about driving it but I don't want to get salt on it so it stays parked right now.

FYI the 7.3 was introduced in model year 1988, not 89. I put a Hypermax turbo on mine. Great upgrade. You need to test that coolant with the special test strips on a regular basis.
