Eh, the Ultimates has some nice paintwork, but it still suffers from S7 setbacks, especially in the head, elbows and knees. Plus I just personally find the sculpt on this one too...puffy-looking. The LC looks closer to the actual suit even with the lack of paint. I'm sure people who decided to go in on the PR Ultimates line will enjoy him, but I'd rather just get the LC and use a marker to dot his nose.
Is King Sphinx's wing feathers supposed to look like Woody Woodpecker heads? I can't stop seeing a flock of Woody Woodpeckers or just birds in general in his wings. I mean gold beaks, white eyes, blue eye brows and red crests.
This wave has been stellar! The arm and torso were a little bothersome but don’t take away from the excellent sculpt and how great it feels in hand. It displays wonderfully. I think Junkyard may be my favorite ultimate this year but this figure is damn good as well.
definitely the best looking version of the three. Just got the Ultimate Goldar in today, kind of on the fence if I should get this one (running low on space and might have to decide on this or the Ultimates Lord Zedd + Throne)
Man!! I wished I had rather waited for this one as I have the lighting collection version but yeah now that I see them next to each other, this version pops the best and has better face paint. Great review!
I like the figure, but the only issue is the size of the face. The head dress size is fine, but the face should be smaller. The bandai figure has the most accurate head sculpt and proportion.
He had faint color in the Japanese footage. He had no color in the American footage. I've seen pictures at various stages and as near as I can tell, Super7's design is essentially what the suit looked like brand new. The paint soaked in and flaked off the foam wings almost immediately and by the time it was available for Saban reshoots, there was no paint left. I believe I heard Super7 folks say on a Morphicon panel that they're essentially not going for American footage accuracy at all aside from the Yellow Ranger being female and their primary references are Toei costume shop photos and costumer sketches. So if something started to change on the first day of filming in Japan like this, they're going for what it looked like in the costume shop before it was even worn. They highlighted specifically not using American reshoots for reference as something to make this distinct from Lightning Collection and Bandai. As well as trying to look like actual suits.
@@pmgerard Yeah. I did find 1 pic of the colored wings online after I posted this comment. I ended up painting my Hasbro version to match. Thanks for the Info.
That ball-joint torso makes me SO hopeful for the future of Ultimates

Super7 always do their best work on the most obscure characters.
The figure looks nice. I wanna see Gnarly Gnome, Terror Toad, and Knasty Knight in future waves
Love the mold of him in the finster super7 ultimate

Looks Alright But I Like The Lighting Collection One More

Would have like to see you pop off and pop in the wings to see the actual joint/peg.

King Sphinx never had colorful wings on the show.
