Totally false on Ethiopian opal. Welo is not treated as any treatment would infuse this hydrophane opal and take away its color just like water does. It’s on par with the best crystal Australian opal. The key to cutting it is picking the right piece to begin with. If you can’t discern what is a crack in the rough, don’t waste your money. As far as its durability, I’ve not had a cab that has crazed over the many years I’ve been cutting it. You do need to take proper care of your welo opal as it sucks in anything liquid, including soap which could deteriorate its color over time. So only wash it with water. Yes, it’s okay to get it wet.
@@jamescampbell392Thanks for Posting this Info. I just bought a ring encrusted with welo opals and pearls. It arrived a little dirty and I wanted to know how to get it ready to present or wear. Is there anything we should know about storage ? ❤️💪
