    I was trying to find if I should have my glasses polished or not. That was really helpful, thank you so much.

      Ray-Ban 6370 Semi-Rimless frames. We can do lenses for those. It is a discontinued frame but currently can be found on Amazon

    Got a pair of half-rim Oakley progressives years ago and the Oakley Lab said they would only do high polished edges, no exceptions. Something to do with aesthetics of the brand name and that was their policy. They did not bother me in direct overhead sunlight or overhead lighting.

    Thank you for the video. I just got a new pair of reader glasses, and they polished the edges without even asking me what I wanted. All my other glasses they made with unpolished edges. All are Silhouette. I do think the polished edges catch the light and make the lenses more visible rather than invisible. I use them for close up work, so they don't give me a glare problem, but had they asked if that was what I wanted, I'd have said no. I definitely would not get polished edges for distance glasses I use for driving.

      Agreed, I am not a fan of polished lenses myself for the stated reasons but I'll do it for free for anyone that does want it. The next time you want a pair of Silhouettes for less money let me know.

    I had recently made the rimless eyeglasses and use the crizal Sapphire lens but my optician has given me the polished edges of my lenses so it is bothering me due to player and reflection at the ages of the lenses so what can I do should I go to optician is it able to fix it properly by grinding or doing some work on the ages of the lenses. Please reply

      Yes they might be able to roughen up the edges to get rid of the shiny polished edges

    I have a full frame eye glass and for some reason my eye doctor put in polished lenses, I am having horrid flares from overhead lights and then this weird rainbow effect on the top of my lens I can’t stand it I don’t know why he did a polished lens

      Most places have a remake policy within 30 to 60 days. If you're within that time peroid maybe they'll d it for yu at no charge.
      Its common for optical shops to polish without asking. They think it will look better cosmetically and perhaps they have a point. But for the wearer it can be unbearable. If they wont remake, ask them to remove the lenses from your frame and use an "lens edge marker" if they're lucky enough to have one. Or a permanent marker to "paint"the edge of the lenses to eliminate the unwanted glare.

    Hmm...I have a full frame rayban and the lenses werent polished but stick a little out of the frame. It looks like the glasses on the edges has a frost along the edges.

    I wear an extremely high prescription of - 26 diopters. I had to return new eyeglasses in this prescription because the optical lab polished the lens edges that created terrible glare. I re ordered my glasses from a different optician who used satin edging on my glasses that enabled me to see clearly🙂

    My frames -5.5 varifocal lenses have a white edge around them in my new frames. My old glasses did not have this white edge visible, they were not varifocals just for short sight, but thinned lenses. Can anything be done about the white edge?

    • @freeprescriptionlenses
      @freeprescriptionlenses  Рік тому

      Good question! Much of it has to do with the prescription and the frame that is being used. With higher prescriptions "sometimes" the bevel edge of the lens can be moved forward to eliminate the white edge you see in front. Did we do the lenses for you? If we did please feel to email us at freeprescriptionlenses@gmail.com.

    For polish glasses what’s the process of getting it removed if it’s even possible? Does it only have to be remade?

    • @freeprescriptionlenses
      @freeprescriptionlenses  8 місяців тому

      Sadly, it will have to be remade. Find out what what the remake policy is where you bought your glasses.

    Are you able to add Ray-ban RX 7186 on your site?

    • @freeprescriptionlenses
      @freeprescriptionlenses  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, absolutely. I'll try and get it on the website today. I had not seen that new model before. That's new school styling with materials on an old school Club Master shape. I'll notify you with a link as soon as its up on the website.

      am I able to make my polished edge non-polished?

  • @carmelo7
    @carmelo7 Рік тому

    Hi, can you reverse the polishing of lenses if you actually wanted them non-polished?

    • @freeprescriptionlenses
      @freeprescriptionlenses  Рік тому +2

      Sadly, not without making them too small to fit in your frame. Call places near you or where you purchased them from and ask if the have a "lens paint marker" and have them apply a color to the edge to remove the unwanted glare from the polished edges.

      My peers make me look good. They are more concerned how glasses look vs. how they perform. And the fact that they didn't ask your preference after explaining the pros and cons, to me shows a lack of professionalism. Never assume! Explain and let the buyer decide. That's the difference between a consultant and a sales person. Let us know the next time you need a pair. We will take the time to work with you. We are not high volume....Seemore

    Should I get a polished edge with thin full rim glasses?

    • @freeprescriptionlenses
      @freeprescriptionlenses  2 роки тому

      No need to in a full rim frame. In full disclosure I'm not even a fan of it in the rimless glasses. Cosmetically it looks better but polished edges does allow glare in through the tops and sides. If you've had it and it doesn't bother you, then OK. But it does drive other people crazy that someone is constantly shining a light in their eyes.

    Just got new glasses today. They came polished. Never again. The glare is almost making me cross eyed.

    • @freeprescriptionlenses
      @freeprescriptionlenses  6 місяців тому

      And the worst part is they probably didn't ask if you wanted it. Find out what their remake policy is and ask them to do it without polished edges. If they will, ask them to also notate your file to never do it again.
