- LOS ANGELES CA - A single vehicle crash on the freeway almost turned into more than that due to the actions of the people involved. If you are involved in a crash on a freeway and your car is drivable, exit the freeway if you can. If the car is not drivable, and able, safely exit your vehicle and get to the shoulder. Stay on the shoulder parallel with your vehicle. If the car is in a unsafe spot and you can't get out to a safe spot, CALL 911 and STAY on the phone until HELP arrives. You might be safer to exit the vehicle and stand in front of it (not directly) using the vehicle as a blocker all while watching and making sure traffic doesn't hit you or the car.
DO NOT GET OUT OF YOUR CAR AND CONTINUALLY CROSS A MOVING FREEWAY. NEVER STAND BEHIND YOUR CAR WITH TRAFFIC COMING AT YOU!

I’m not kidding, I’d have to scream at them to pull over to the side, close their GD doors. And quit taking selfies because they’re creating drama where there is none. Yea cuz I wouldn't have even done that cuz even with hazards on people still get hit on the freeway...so not safe AT ALL... a little over a years ago my car actually broke down in a turning lane at a intersection...my 2 kids were with me, and as soon as I possibly could got my kids out and we stood in the median, juat because of how incredibly complacent alot of drivers are...
that camera guy could've done the exact same thing but he/she got out of their car and started filming, hoping to see a fiery crash and loss of life.

That person that got behind them and put their hazards on saved some lives for sure. Before they showed up cars were swerving last minute almost hitting them but after the hazards went on most people knew to brake a lot earlier and avoid an even bigger accident.

One car completely stopped, with no emergency flashers, in an unusual/unexpected place, is about as extreme of an example as you can get.
I'm in my 30's now and no-one ever had to tell me not to do this if I ever got into an auto accident on the freeway,it's common sense.Everyone should invest in a dash camera,I have and it has saved me a few times already.

As a former first responder, I have seen a great deal of stupidity on the road. This is up there. It's amazing none of these idiots were struck by passing vehicles. There were quite a few close calls.

Step 2check on everyone involved
Step 3 move vehicle to shoulder if drive able
If anyone is injured make sure they are warm and in safe area
DONT WALK OUT INTO TRAFFIC
Step 4 secure area and direct traffic
Step 5 wait for emergency crew
Step 6 take picture of top bottom front back both sides and all angles of vehicles take picture of debris and skid marks, all signs near area, land marks take pictures of highway and mile marker exit signs anything that can identify where you are :)

Questions I have while watching this unfold.
1) Were they unable to limp the car to the side of the road and if so, why didn't they? Did they even try (referring to previous question)?
2) If the car clearly has battery power as seen by the brake lights and headlights, why didn't they at least turn the hazard lights on?
3) Your on a live highway, what on earth would posses you to make several trips back to the car wreck putting your own life and others at risk?
Forethoughts: In my opinion, tickets should serve to teach drivers a lesson. I understand this is an accident but as an officer, if I find that you could have done things to minimize the risk of an additional aftermath accident, you should be held responsible if you chose to be negligent and do nothing. I'm not saying take away driving privileges, just ticket the individuals so that they have to thoroughly analyze the situation they created and hopefully create a better response in the future.

I am at a loss for words just watching this. These two women by the grace of God had their lives spared. But that being said the majority of the comments that I read I could understand why people feel the way they feel and see what they said. I know for a fact it's because they were African Americans. I am an African American but we have to realize that if this was a different race besides these two women whether they be white asian or whatever the comments will sway towards some sort of hate or dislike. I realize that not all of us have the same upbringing I was fortunate enough to be raised in a military family and everyday for me and my family members was always a training safety scenario always to be alert always to be on a lookout and keep your head on a swivel. I know the fact that our people can have quite the heavy emotions or feelings that can rise to the highest level. I understand that but when it comes to self-preservation and the safety of others it should become the highest priority and the duty of all mankind we should embrace each other and help each other in our time of need that could be the key for an individual or many who are able to assist if it is safe to do so. It is in a person's nature to dislike what they don't know or what they think they know without understanding a person's mental capability because everybody is different but it only takes just a moment to communicate to one another that you care for their safety. I understand that people might comment on what I just said and say that I'm just one-sided I don't take any judgment hard but I do feel bad when people lay in on someone just because of their actions. I realized a lot of people driving is there right but it's not it's just a privilege we do live it in a free country but we do give up some freedoms to have those rights. With that being said I only have love for everybody around me regardless of what they think about me because in the end we are all human and we all have emotion and family and something that we love regardless of the person's point of view. I just believe that are written test and are behind the wheel test or just too easy. Please correct me if I'm wrong but I think in Finland you have to take a 1-year defensive driving class before even being considered for a license I remember just seeing it on top gear but if anything somebody correct me on that I wouldn't mind doing that knowing total ins and out of a vehicle most people just get in and think it's all good but in all actuality it's not person behind the wheels wielding a weapon technically a two-ton weapon depending on the vehicle you can easily mow down a bunch of people and end up being put behind bars forever just over an accident. I do appreciate that I could comment on this video I just wanted to express my concern that is it and thank you.

I’ve had to try and revive a woman who slammed into a vehicle for a situation just like this on the 60 freeway a few years back. She passed away unfortunately. Insane.

Man! Those are some dumb people! Everyone knows if you have an accident in the middle of the freeway, you put on dark colored clothing and lay down in the middle of the freeway, behind your crashed vehicle. That way, when people see you lying in the roadway, they know there is a problem.
As a retired firefighter, it astonishing at the level uncaring of others have for another's life or well being..to prance around inthe freeway, and it is astonishing of the care others give to others.
Why in the hell didn't she turn on her emergency blinkers? That would've given other cars a chance to know there was trouble ahead.
