I've been collecting colorful glass for about 15 years. It gives me something to look for when I go to thrift stores, antique stores, and garage sales. I have a lot of mine in a window and love when the morning light shines through into the room. What I finally started doing, after I also ended up with way more cobalt blue than anything else, was to always carry an updated picture with my collection. That made it easier to remember what I have and where I need to fill in.
I collected beautiful colored glass for some years and put them in my kitchen bay window. Yes, the light coming in through all that colored glass is so beautiful. I learned about and bought a lot of crackle glass that really reflects the light coming through the window - they look sparkly. It was actually this activity that brought me to vaseline glass. I had been looking for some vibrant yellow, and a store person asked me if I meant vaseline glass. So...now I have a collection of vaseline glass (yellow and green). I still have to find the perfect curio cabinet with lighting ability that I can change to black lights, which makes vaseline glass GLOW a neon green. TIP: if you are shopping for vaseline glass, always bring a black light with you so you can test the glass before you buy it.

You might try hanging shelves across a window. The light passing through the glass would look like a stained glass window.
Some glass pieces are flash painted on the outside, so color could be scratched off. Other colored vases the color is incorporated during manufacturing process. When I was first married I wanted colored glass on a shelf in front of my kitchen window. I had a few pieces of clear glass vases so I put food coloring in the water. It looked pretty with the sun shining on them
I think we all liked thrifting with you. I took a bunch of different clear bottles and put colored water in them. Usually have them on my window in the kitchen. The sun comes in and makes colored rainbows on the wall. But I may have to try something with colored glass. I love your hair too.

I love those canvases. Jic you didn’t know, lightly sanding, gessoing, & sanding them again makes a whole new work surface. It’s so worth it.

Just dropping a comment on what some of this is called. The “bumpy,” red vase, is hobnail. When the glass is “peeling,” it means it was flashed, painted on, then heated. Try to find actual colored glass. The lamps are ginger jars. And as others have said, that candle thing, is a snuffer. Pretty things, can’t wait to see your finished product. I love reusing things, that are already available. Sustainability is always a good idea. Now, consider bringing reusable bags, when you go thrifting. It provides a bit more protection, and less throw away plastic. I’ve even brought some old towels, rags and pillowcase, to pack my stuff in, for the ride home so I don’t chip or brake my finds.😊

Totally love cobalt blue glass and the green is also beautiful. You can never have too many baskets! I ❣️ that tin footed pot. Maybe you could put a potted plant in it. Thanks again for sharing! 💯
18 square canvases could be put together to make 3 cubes you can turn periodically to alter the pictures. Stack them in a room corner and offset them just a bit one from another so no matter where you are in the room you can see beautiful artwork.

I’m 75 so I grew up with mid-century modern and my mom was on top of things and a great decorator. Seeing you pick out colored glassware, I had a flashback where everyone collected empty pretty, clear whiskey bottles and put the same food coloring in 3 or 4 bottles grouped. We had light grey wall-to-wall carpeting (a “new” thing for the early 60’s) and a black & white mid century couch and 2 neutral colored chairs. She had several sets of throw pillows to change up with the colored water (turquoise, green, blue, orange ). Try it with some of these interesting clear bottles.

Hand blown glass has imperfections in it. That means the better stuff has little creases and bubbles. The cheap stuff was molded and doesn't have that.
Mind you that Depression Glass is molded, but that type of glass is more valuable as it is vintage, but it is molded, not hand blown. It should also have some minor defects from factory.
Use the basket and metal patina plant pot holder for staging any rustic pieces of furniture.

True, I love watching Selena of The Vintage Bombshell, Laura Caldwell and XoMacenna Vlogs has some good ones especially wih Estate Sales. Got hooked watching Selena and Laura on the Recycled Life, they went thrifting in Nebraska at the Junk Jaunt.
If you got some fairy lights that are on a timer you could light up the glass for a few hours in the evening and not have to worry about turning them off or on. The color glass display would really look beautiful ❤️

Your neck of the woods has such a bunch of great offerings available. Never saw so many good baskets in our local thrift stores. I have a variety of small glass bottles sitting on my bedroom window ledge. It's a southern exposure to catch every sun ray. Gives me joy! And we ought to have such in our homes. 😊
I have collected colored glass for years. When I find a new interesting piece I replace one of my older pieces to keep the collection evolving, and pass it along as a gift. I hope this blossoms into an enjoyable hunt for years to come.

Wash all your glass in warm soapy water. Rinse then dry with a cotton dish towel. They will gleam beautifully.

A few of the pieces you have picked up can be purchased at the Dollar Tree. They get in different shapes and sizes on a weekly basis and in all the colors you want. It is hit or miss though just like Goodwill.

Yes, 2 or 3 are from Dollar Tree. Usually, you can tell quality glass because it is heavier. And look at wach piece to see if you can find mold marks - if you don’t see any, it may be hand-blown glass.
Glassware - Fire King or Anchor. Anything Depression glassware is sturdy and beautiful
That lady is correct in your hair is absolutely beautiful. You should do a short on tour hair routine. I know it's not your normal content but inquiring minds want to know how you have such silky hair. Black shelves would look cool too for a pop of color for the glass.

Lauren, it's called a candle snuffer and the cool vintage lamp is pottery. :) I love your inexpensive way to get colored glass. That look was very popular in the mid century. If you ever find true MCM glass it's pretty pricey! Love all your finds.

Add some white milk glass that would be cool in what appears to me to be an ombré effect just in glass. I love the idea it is lovely and I may jus borrow the idea as I have a love for beautiful glass. For me the hunt of finding the different styles and colors is so exciting. Of course, you could always go and buy the new junk anytime but you won’t have near as much fun or great memories finding your treasures! Happy hunting Lauren! ❤

I had a huge cobalt blue collection at one time. It was always so fun to fine unique pieces over time while antiquing/thrifting.
This was so much fun to watch. The old metal piece with the handles is so cool. You could put an artificial plant in it.

I love thrifting. Pretty much have decorated my home with beautiful thrifted finds.
I LOVE your idea of the colored glass, it so reminds me of a store I used to love in Glen, NH. It was called the House of Color, or something like that, and had one wall of windows with all kinds of colored glass in it. The offerings were more extensive inside, of course. In the back of the store they sold thing like Bass (brand) boots, and that is where I got my first pair that lasted for years. Perhaps they should have advertised that part of the store also, they may have in been in business a lot longer than the 40+ years they were!

Regarding your mismatched lampshades, I’ve seen DIYers remove the fabric and replace with strands of beads. Then use Edison bulbs. It’s a way to bring different shapes together.

Canterbury Cottage makes some amazing things from thrifted items as does Liz Fenwick DIY channel (when she thrifts). There are a few others out there with awesome imaginations but Liz does an incredible job at staging her remade pieces. CC has some crazy talent though & I'm blown away at her creativity!!

I inherited my grandmother’s turquoise Fenton glass. I put it all on a table in front of the window this summer. It’s so beautiful.
Everything you got is so pretty. I have to thank you, it never occurred to me to thrift some flat bowl like crystal or cut glass as saucers for plants. That'd be so pretty. I have several and that's what I'll do. So much prettier than those old plastic things you get at the garden center. Thank you!
I use mismatched ceramic saucers as drip catchers for my plants. Gives some utility to those discarded saucers as well that are a bit old and chipped.

You have the best goodwill thrift stores! I use the old cut glass plates under my plants too. I found most of mine at estate sales.
Great haul! Love the colours. I would love to see you use reusable bags as you rescue, recycle and reuse furniture and decor.
So like I'm seeing the solid colored items mixed in to the clear colored items seasonally. Like the pumpkin and the Santa and stuff just stuck in their color section at the right time.
