It is interesting how the basics are the same between Minolta, Canon, Nikon, Yashica are similar but the depth of field preview and the self timers are different enough that without a manual or your video could be frustrating

Thanks for your videos on these Minolta SRT series cameras. They have always been favorites of mine and I think I have at least one of every SRT model made. There are so many of them! I frequently need to re-familiarize myself with the subtle differences between models. In my opinion, many of the Rokkor lenses are some of the best.

Interesting to learn that the half aperture stop feature is not found in Nikon and Olympus cameras. Did they ever introduce that feature in film cameras?

No, but you can set it between stops although you’re not sure you have it at exactly the half stop. That’s why I like the half click stops. Thanks for watching and for your comments.

I have one; bought it for the 58mm f1.4 Rokkor lens. Mine has the film advance lever tip missing; I glued something on there. Also, Jules, I see you are wary to touch the film advance window; I accidently cracked that little plastic window when I picked up the camera, and a fingertip burrowed into the window. Which is your favourite film camera to use at the moment?

It’s very common for the plastic tip on the advance lever to be missing. My favorite film camera of all time is the Nikon F2AS, but I also like the Minolta SRT series, the Canon FTb and the Olympus OM-1. I almost forgot the Pentax Spotmatic . Thanks for watching.

i recently begin shooting a SRT101. so much fun! odd question: do you know if it’s ok for the camera to take shots with the depth of field preview engaged - i kept doing it accidentally. then i thought maybe it could reduce some camera shake as the aperture isn’t moving? thoughts??

Good point, it may possibly reduce shake and it won’t hurt as long as you can clearly see your subject through the darkened viewfinder.
